When D2 came out, both of the good nova bombs were left behind. For some reason, all we were left with is Vortex, which is slow, easily dodged, has a pathetically small blast radius, and a useless vortex ability.
And Slova bomb, Vortex's fat idiot cousin who is supposed to follow your enemies like a blood hound, but instead would rather pig out on ice cream and ram itself into walls because he's too stupid and lazy to be bothered to do his job.
Even worse for Slova, despite his vast girth and sheer intimidating presence, he in fact bruises easily, being as fragile as wet toilet paper whenever another super is shot at him-- hammers, golden gun, panic barrage, and even titan shields.
So on the one hand, we have a feeble, pitiful Vortex that can't seem to kill anyone unless it is cast right at your feet, usually resulting in a trade. And on the other hand we have Slova, happily derping his way into walls and being blown to bits by better supers.
Just... why?

2 RepliesThe only real question is, When they bring back Widows Court, will I even be able to cross map Nova drop B flag from the sky like I used to be able to in D1?
-
1 ReplyIf I had a dollar for every time I launched my slowva bomb at a boss, just for it to redirect and go after a squishy little red bar instead. Or every time I activated vortex bomb, and watched the supering Titan laugh in OEM and effortlessly shoulder charge out of range in the time between the super activating and the projectile actually being launched, let alone making contact with something. I could probably buy the shadowkeep collectors edition. I could probably buy a box at Taco Bell with the people I’ve killed because they walked straight into my vortex like an idiot. My theory is so few people use bottom tree nova in crucible that the poor fools didn’t realize what they walked into until it was too late.

It's still pretty good, slowva that is. This is during the community challenge and after the nerf to skull of Dire Ahamkara.
-
2 RepliesBull. Slowva is really good.
-
I would like to know why blade barrage has an overshield. It only takes a second to deploy, so if you die in that second it’s your own fault.
-
Cataclysm can be a bit ridiculous at times but it's the best one out of the two. These were designed for vanilla D2 and we all know what a shitshow that was. Since then Bungie has taken every opportunity to avoid giving these two Nova Bombs proper adjustments. Apparently they think adding %15 to Vortex's damage is going to somehow make up for it's lackluster performance.
-
Sounds a lot like user error. Top tree Nova Bomb is devastating. Its efficiency at vaporizing everything was highlighted with pre-nerf Skull of Dire Ahamkara. It deals significantly more damage than Thundercrash, which is supposed to be the Titan's Nova Bomb/Blade Barrage that happens to use the vulnerable player as the projectile, who 10/10 times will be knocked away from an Ultra after tickling it. Bottom tree Nova Bomb suffers because Devour says hello with making the player practically have God Mode on as long as they are able to get kills, instantly healing them to maximum health. That said, bottom tree Nova Bomb should have Lance or whatever it was called from D1, to let it fly faster and straighter for what it does. It's damage (or lack of) is completely justified.

4 RepliesIt was ok with the skull but that also got nerfed sooo yeah. Not supposed to have fun i guess

Edited by AbsolutZeroGI: 9/28/2019 8:33:06 AMSlova bomb wrecks bosses when it hits. Problem is getting it to hit. Was doing izanami's forge earlier and my buddy tossed one at the boss and it wafted right over his head. It was comically infuriating. None hit though and did about half of its damage once the offshoots curled back in and hit him again. It's quite good in mayhem too. Toss it into a room of opponents and it usually hits someone. Just don't go into the room and you avoid blade barrage. Vortex nova bomb has been garbage since day 1 and Bungie will never make it actually good. That should be the boss melter tbh.

3 RepliesWe Thundercrash users would be more than happy to trade

Nova gets taken out by golden gun and blade barrage. It’s kind of comical running the hunter in mayhem . It’s easy mode and feel cheap using B.B. I rock golden gun as that’s nearly as cheap but requires a little aim ;o)

2 RepliesTell that to him the guy who decided to solo nova bomb me like 5 times in a span of 2 games.
-
If you can't hit people with nova bomb then that's definitely a you problem.
-
4 RepliesSlova Bomb I think is fine, but bottom tree Nova absolutely terrible. Just buff the radius or turn it into Scatter (bigget blast radius by default) or Lance (being faster makes up for lack of blast radius). Devour is literally the only good thing about that sub-tree. Problem is so many people think Devour is op that they are blinded to the fact the super sucks.

Edited by TrooperHR: 9/26/2019 6:54:14 PMWhy did Destiny 2 have to suck so badly? If you get an answer to that, you get an answer to all the other questions.
-
Cause they turned panic slam into a spawn killing ceaseless trans dimensional instrument of death which is not constrained by the notions of time or space, and yields no mercy, even to those freshly birthed from the womb of their most recent death... And decided to make Nova bomb the same, but actually just worse.
-
13 RepliesLmao what?? Nova bomb gets a buff literally every update and ya’ll still crying about it. Slowva bomb snipes from miles away and then spits out multiple truth seeking mini nova’s. Have a look at thundercrash if you want to see what “bad” is.
-
4 RepliesI loved running slova bomb... Saying that, you have to play aggressively with slova and I would consistently get three to four players down with it. Slova paired with blink and transversive steps is a lot of fun in the crucible and or comp. Or, turning the slova bomb into a sheep herding dog is also funny. Many o times where I cast it for the slow chase and then I run the flank and get the kill shot.. which works out either way because EVERYONE always retreats to their own team and takes the slova with them. 😂 I have seen some funny instances of this and net some cheap kills. The other nova bomb is worthless unless you are in rare circumstances where you need a spot protected specifically.
-
It should suck. That's a good idea. Pull enemies into it with gravitons and graviolis.
-
Because Jon Weisznewski----who was Sandbox Lead in D1, and Weapons Design lead for D2----wanted a Destiny 2 that was a "gun game"...and where the Crucible could be come an e-sport. Warlocks...and their abilities...were a threat to that. So Warlocks got nerfed into the GROUND going into Destiny 2, and were busted down from a top shelf DPS class....to basically a support class. ...and Bungie has spent the last year-and-a-half trying to repair the damage.
-
Just another disappointment from Disappointment 2
-
Top tree is fine it bottom tree is the one that is bad. I don't know how many times I've suggested it have lance and fire straight as opposed to gravity pulling it down immediately. Bungie is increasing the blast radius so its lethality is going up but it is still a short range super and with the armor reduction on nova bomb as a whole be very risky and you'll need ahamkara to run which gates your build potential.
-
1 ReplyBecause Titans are the only class who deserve anything nice.
-
2 RepliesThey took shatter and gave to hunters in the form of blade barrage which is better. Insane damage resistance crazy fov and you can aim it.
-
5 RepliesI thought that slova bomb was strong, though? They just move too slow.
-
Slova bomb is strong as hell. The other one needs a buff though. Give it lance and maybe shatter. Since bubble is going to have all three options, why shouldn’t nova bomb.
