Vidoc proves this game is for streamers, not us

I watched the vidoc and read some of the feedback about it. I have come to the conclusion that Destiny 2 is a game for streamers, not for us regular players. For clarification, regular players don't get paid money to play video games. Anyway. This all stinks of streamer friendly content. Each season starts with some big thing. Bungie is forcing the FOMO for better or for worse. At the end of the season, if you weren't there, you'll never get to be there. That approach had pros and cons, but mostly cons. For starters, regular players who don't get in on ground zero miss actual storyline content and can never get it back. That's an insane amount of pressure for a video game, especially one where the meta is so meticulously crafted for the top 1% (don't say it's not. No average player is getting any of the PvP pinnacle weapons). Here's the thing, though. If you, say, leave destiny 2 for 6 months and need to get caught back up on what happened, who do you HAVE to turn to? The streamers. They get fresh content every 3 months to keep up the numbers. Then they get archived content on YT for people who need to see what happened in the previous season for the next season to make sense. I know streamer hate is a real tinfoil hat in this community, but to me, this vidoc, Shadowkeep, and Y3 seasonal content kind of prove the conspiracy theorists right. Bungie invites these people to summits to discuss the game, a ton of their ideas get molded into the game (while virtually none of ours are), Datto whines about Well and now it's gone, and now year 3 will have disappearing content you can only revisit through streamer content. I canceled my Shadowkeep pre-order months ago, not that anybody cares, but every new thing I learn makes me happy I did. I don't know when Bungie decided that the livelihood of a dozen or so streamers meant more to it than its own community, but wow it's so pathetic to see people who work for this company day things like "we're all journeying together" when Bungie and streamers do their own thing and don't care about anybody else. No real point to this other than the feedback that I think this crap sucks. Nothing you do will make me want to watch Datto, Bungie. Stop trying.

The average player can easily get a pinnacle pvp weapon. I have a clan member who has a .7 k/d and still has recluse. I have another who is a .9 and even managed to get nf (albeit on console). If you want something in the game, all you have to do is apply effort. I'm tired of these people that want everything handed to them.

      • I play a ton, I don't feel I'm a top 1%. I don't watch Datto. I don't care if they fly him out every week. I don't care if they nerf or get rid of crap. I have no pinnacle weapons from pvp, other than redrix that I grinded for over the whole year. I get on here to have fun and kill the bad guys. And the main thing is every time they nerf something, I adapt and find the the next meta. With in the first 2 days of shadowkeep, I will adapt and find the new way to defeat the darkness. Every time something gets nerfed something else rises to the top.

          • Disagree on all points. Pinnacle weapons have never been easier to get. I have seen 0.7 kd teams at 2500+ glory. You just have to play the game. This is the same for pve content. Shadowkeep will introduce solo glory playlist (at which point I think even legend will be possible solo) as well as a 6 player match made activity.

          • The average gamer does have pvp pinnacle's. They all have created kill lobbies and buy them. Of course not all of them... but "strangely" all of that kicked off big time when people found out Mountain Top is meta in crown of sorrows. and they are P I N N A C L E. Not everyone will get it. GIVEN i think literally everyone in the community wants pvp pinnacles to be like revoker which i haven't an issue with, just stop acting like everyone is supposed to get everything, because that isn't quite what happens. Not everyone will get Pvp Pinnacle Weapons. Sorry but that is just how it is gonna be. And what story line content are they missing out on? It is going to stay forever. They do not remove EVERYTHING associated from Season 8 when its over, JUST the seasonal activity which is the Vex Offensive. Story Missions and all of that will remain. I don't see how any of this proves it right. You just use the worst kind of gamer as your average gamer example. Someone who works and can hardly have any time for Destiny. That isn't Destiny's fault as they hardly have any time to begin with, so you cannot really invest in it. This game is not being made for streamer imho, they are simply not making it so casual friendly anymore. They are trying to be more loyal to their hardcore ish fans i think. And btw 3 months if a long time. Stop acting as though you will not get a chance at all to participate in the vex offensive when you can literally play destiny 2 A N Y W H E R E this fall

          • Disagree. But we’re all entitled to our own opinions. Also, a lot of average players have gotten pinnacle pvp weapons, and they will continue to do so. It’s really not that hard.

          • I look at the streamer thing the same way I look at Eververse. You don't have to participate in it if you don't want to. They are adding ways for pretty much every player to feel included. Maybe not as much as the people who play a lot but just saying that the entire focus of the game is on streamers while ignoring the other stuff doesn't make a lot of sense. Also, if you want help getting to 2100 next season after the ranks reset I will help you. There are people with .8 K/Ds that soloed to Fabled so you're overreacting a bit when you say average people can't get there.

                • OP, PLEASE READ THIS. Looked at all these replies and the replies you made to them. Just -blam!-ING STOP. You're doing nothing but making yourself look like a prick. You never needed to watch streamers. You never had to care about streamers. You never even made a real point about most streamers. Just Datto and his well video, which was mostly the entire community's thoughts at the time, and the changes discussed afterwards being coincidence. Nobody cares. Every reply you make is just digging yourself a deeper hole. This is not the discussion you think it is. It's just you shutting down arguments and a couple hundred people making fun of you. Please just make this whole thread like a Taken blight and destroy it.

I dont have mountain top or the broadsword pulse rifle because I hardly use those weapons to begin with; they are certainly not out of my reach.

                  • Your logic, or lack there of, makes no sense. You think they’re producing content for Destiny every season so that Youtubers have something to talk about? Not so that we have something to play and therefore pay for? And why wouldn’t they try to help the big Youtubers? They’re giving them millions of hours of free advertising and keeping them in the public eye. Of course they’re going to want that.

                    • With the amount that you talk about Streamers and Datto, it seems to me like someone is either; 1. Jealous of the success that Streamers have 2. Upset that the game doesn't revolve around what THEY want. 3. Upset that some people have an elevated voice because social media exists. You have no real reason to complain. I'd say "Don't like it, don't play it." But if I did, you'd just try and throw it back in my face. Seriously though, it is beyond astounding that you are so upset about such a non-issue. The real reason that those people are invited for summits is because of HOW MUCH THEY PLAY THE GAME. They play Destiny just about every day, and they see people talking in comments and in stream chats all the time. Bungie goes to them for ideas because streamers and creators are much more able to interact with Destiny and related communities on a daily basis. Providing content the way they do is a great model. They could also adopt the same model as something like WoW, and create content that is slowly let out over 2 years, and then work on the next expansion the moment they drop the initial expansion. Guess what, We wend up paying the same amount of money for that model, as we do with the seasonal model. This seasonal model is quite frankly better designed than the model for WoW. I stopped playing WoW because content gets too stale too quickly, and content droughts can last for MONTHS. I remember seeing some metrics from a few years back, and they had a content drought of nearly 6 months (If I'm remembering correctly, been a while) Also, this is what, Week 4 of you complaining that they're nerfing our ability to one-phase bosses? Raiding is a pinnacle activity, and frankly, in a lot of instances, it was too easy because Well existed. Same reason why they removed Auto-reload from Lunafaction boots and Rally Barricade. Reckoning was what we got because super's and exotics provided too much of an advantage over content. I know the idea of this game is Power Fantasy and stuff, but there still has to be a state of balance in this game. Having certain elements be overly powerful just isn't healthy for a game like Destiny. When Lord of Wolves was super powerful, I was actively avoiding crucible because it wasn't fun to get sniped by a shotgun at near 20-25 meters. It was pushed to get patched by quite a number of people, not just influencers. Same kind of thing when Nova Warp and Spectral Blades got patched. They were simply too powerful. Striker titan is an Outlier right now for sure, and I'm hoping that Bungie notices sooner rather than later. Admittedly though, It is nowhere near as bad as Nova Warp or Spectral was. Lastly, you need to rethink your arguments. So what if someone didn't get to experience a small amount of content that only made sense in existing for a single season. One reason why I've been playing less recently is because content was so repetitive, and the fact that I was doing content that was rather old. I'm getting the feeling of a content drought. I'm all for keeping things fresh by rotating weapon drops and making certain activities seasonal exclusives. Tell me, would the whole "Vex Offensive" Max sense in regards to story later on down the line if it just happened randomly? You seem all hung up on story and experiencing content when quite frankly, experiencing that probably 2 years down the line just wouldn't be great. I will leave with this, and I will make it as pronounced as can be so that i can't be ignored. YOU DO NOT KNOW BEST. THIS GAME IS NOT ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU AND ONLY YOU WANT. STREAMERS REPRESENT A COMMUNITY AND KNOW THINGS THAT DEVELOPERS DON'T. GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE AND STOP THINKING THIS GAME IS ALL ABOUT YOU AND YOUR EXPERIENCE. THIS GAME IS ABOUT A COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE AND HAVING FUN. DON'T LIKE IT? DON'T PARTICIPATE. STOP FLOODING THE FORUMS WITH UNNEEDED NEGATIVITY.

                      • I work a job that keeps me away from home for months on end and so I will for sure not be able to experience every piece of seasonal content and I’m ok with that. Sometimes we miss out on things but this makes it more special for those who didn’t and also more valuable to us when we are around. I enjoy the game and if I miss parts then it doesn’t detract from my enjoyment of the content that I do experience. Plus, it’s more of a World of Warcraft / traditional MMO set up, things that existed before streaming did so I don’t buy into this purely being a streamers game. I respect your opinion, I think lots of people in Destiny got so use to achieving everything and now more exclusivity has been introduced (crucible pinnacles etc) they complain when they don’t get everything. Honestly, and this isn’t a personal attack, I think we have to just get use to the fact that in a game like this, some things we will just miss out on. With my job I experienced this since D1 and I actually enjoy prioritising the weapons/quests/activities that appeal to me and going for the other ones when I have the time.

Then I found out that it’s not from regular gameplay but from a Fortnite like season reward deal.... such a bummer Bungie is going this route... So much potential there to simply make playing this game fun and rewarding without employing fish hooks like that.

My main concern has always been when new content is released, old stuff is dirt cheap or free.. Hence “I’ll wait” That messes it up, as not everyone on board at the same time and then it’s all blazing through content to catch up before new content drops for those who waited for a bargain. How on earth does that contribute to a strong and positive community?? Sick of exotic weapon quests too.. Just give us new stories and new strikes every season ffs.. Like it used to be in the good ol days. Streamers are not the issue.. It’s Bungie and their lazy attitude towards us the players.
