New Light is included with every purchase as it is needed for Shadowkeep, it is free so it does not impact the price at all, so there is nothing to fix.

  • That isnt my issue, it is included with the "purchase" on the Microsoft store. Therefore, I am paying for it. Nowhere on the purchasing screen does it say that the core game is free, it states that you simply do not require ownership of any previous Destint 2 EXPANSIONS to purchase or play. The core game is however listed as part of the purchase.

  • Correct, you are paying $0.00 for the core game when you purchase Shadowkeep.

  • Doesnt say that, infact it is listed in the purchases stating that the DLCs for the core game will be included.

  • You're paying for the entire package, of Shadowkeep at it's price with the core game DLC 1 & 2 being included at no additional cost. The way Destiny is designed, you're redownloading the entire game regardless if you already have the previous DLC's, so it isn't just a patch of a patch and is just one big block instead to avoid unnecessary bugs.

Because the core is always required to play an expansion - it just says no other expansions are required (i.e. you don't have to have Forsaken) New Light (the core game plus Warmind and CoO) has been announced as being Free-To-Play starting in October, for a long time now. The bundles just include New Light in order to make it easier off the starting ramp for new players. If you already own the content, it will either ignore or update the base files as required. The price itself is just for the Shadowkeep Expansion. The price would not change if they took out New Light, but it would make it a 2 step process for new players since they would have to install New Light first. Hence why they just included it.

  • That is just how you are choosing to look at it. New Light is free... full stop. They include it with Shadowkeep as it is needed for the expansion to function. The expansion will be the same price with or without New Light, while adding a new SKU without it would just cause confusion when there are 2 items at the same price, one with New Light included and one without. You do not need any previous Expansions, the only previous expansion being Forsaken, to play Shadowkeep.

  • Again, that's not my issue, it's Bungie's. I'm not repurchasing the core game as it very specifically says I am in the receipt and prepurchase. Sorry that I don't blindly throw money at a failing company lol

  • What is the final total price for your order?

  • Havent ordered it and won't be until this is corrected, so I have no clue. The core game with shadowkeep is 34.99 tho. Which includes the dlcs for the core game for free, but the actual core game is listed as an item with the purchase.

  • https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/p/destiny-2-shadowkeep-pre-order/9nj6rkp8r8nt?activetab=pivot:overviewtab Is this the item you're looking at for pre-order?

  • Indeed. As it states, Destiny 2 is included in the bundle. The bundle isnt free and the only content it says you get for "free" is the dlcs for yr 1. There isn't an issue with understanding, I totally get that everyone watches every word posted online by bungie, but I'm not that guy. I've got a full time career, family, and whatnot. So when I pull up my receipt for a company that continues to demand money, I want it to be very clear as to what I'm spending said money on. That's simply being responsible with your finances.

  • That's understandable, I suppose. I too care about my spending. However, Bungie has made a few things clear on both their website and through news outlets: All Year 1 content is 100% free for anyone, anywhere, period. This is the "Destiny 2" included in the bundle All Year 2 content can be played through a $25 purchase of Forsaken, which now includes the first Annual Pass for free, but none of this is needed for Shadowkeep Year 3 content comes in 3 selections: A free-to-play version given to anyone with the free-to-play base game (minimal Shadowkeep content) A $35 purchase for the Shadowkeep expansion, which includes Season of the Undying as a bonus A $60 purchase for the Shadowkeep expansion, which includes Season of the Undying as a bonus plus the pre-order costs of $10/season ($30 total) that covers the full year of content A brand new player, with nothing owned before, can play all of "Destiny 2 Year 1", AKA "New Light" for free. All content for the following two years would cost them only $85 An up-to-date player, such as yourself, only needs a Shadowkeep bundle, priced at $35 for the expansion. You can also choose to add on the 3 DLCs ahead of time to save $5, or buy them a-la-carte. However, since Bungie expects at least some new players, or people on new consoles, to buy a Shadowkeep bundle, they include the download information for Destiny 2 Year 1. This is completely free, provided to everyone as a precaution EVEN IF they don't need it, and is something you can ignore. It will not increase the price of the Shadowkeep bundle whatsoever. The logic here is that you cannot download an expansion to a game, which builds on the vanilla game's code, without having that vanilla code installed. Destiny 2 Year 1 + any expansion = works fine No Destiny 2 Year 1 + any expansion = not actually possible Rest assured, you will only pay for Shadowkeep. You will not have to re-buy or re-download any content you already own https://www.bungie.net/7/en/Destiny/NewLight https://www.shacknews.com/article/113972/when-is-destiny-2-free-to-play-with-new-light Hopefully this helps

  • Unfortunately, that is just your perception, Bungie is not going to build a new sku in the store at the risk of confusing others to appease your thought process. While I hope to see you in Shadowkeep, if that is the sticking point for you, then it seems like you will be skipping it.

  • It truly has nothing to do with a personal perception, it has 100% to do with how it is listed, worded, and advertised.

  • The issue is yours - getting free content in a package doesn't mean there is a price for that piece of it, but it legally does have to be listed in the contents. The price is no different with or without the New Light content; however, it is a bigger administrative hassle for the sellers and publisher both when they have to accommodate narrow minded players, like yourself, by having multiple SKUs in place, for basically the same product. If you can't understand how free items can be included in a purchase (the business model has been in place since dirt), then we won't miss you on the playing field this fall, since you won't be buying it. BTW - this is not a technical topic and therefore should be in #FEEDBACK, not HELP

  • It is your way of looking at it, hence perception. The overwhelming majority of the population understand that you are paying for shadowkeep expansion and the other bits are included free. Again, if that is your line in the sand, then unfortunately, it looks like you will skip the expansion as it is not going to be fixed to your satisfaction.
