Console players are locked at 30fps for at least next 5 years?

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-2s-five-year-plan-likely-means-destiny-3-i/1100-6469912/ Why no one is complaining about FPS rate on console.... I really wish they can do something about it as Destiny 3 is 5 years away... Also looking at interview which was made 2 years ago, Bungie is able to make 60 FPS on consoles. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-2-could-run-at-60fps-on-console-but-heres-/1100-6452783/ Please bring this to console..
Why no one is complaining about FPS rate on console..
1. Because 30 fps is not a visual problem unless your brain is used to seeing higher frame rates....usually on PC. 2. High frame rates consume computling resources that could be used to improve other areas of game play that make RPG games more immersive: weather effects, animiated/destructible environments, larger play spaces, smarter, more aggressive AI opponents. 3. None of the games that have pretensions towards being "open world" run at more than 30 fps on console. The machines simply aren't powerful enough to do it. Borderlands 3 tried to push the PS4 pro and Xbox 1X to run the game at 60 fps @1080...and both machines struggle with frame rate drops and stuttering. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO PUSH AN UNDERPOWERED MACHINE TO HIT A BENCHMARK THAT IT WASN'T DESIGNED TO HIT. 4. Unless you are playing a COMPETITIVE shooter high frame-rates don't translate to a better play experience. They only do so in typical comp shooters because sever tick rates (how often the game refreshes itself looking for changes) is often tied to frame rate. So a shooter with a tick rate of 30 hz only looks for changes about every 33 milliseconds. So any two events that happen within 33 ms of one another...the game will "see" has happening simultaneously. Which is why you'll get a lot of "kill trades' in high level play in games with low refresh rates. But a game with a tick rate of 60 Hz will be able to "resolve" in game events down to only 16 milliseconds. Which is a difference that is noticeable to many highly skilled, high twitch speed players. However very little of this is relevant to PVE play and that experience. IOW, Bungie CAN make the game run at 60 fps but it would mean. 1. Smaller play spaces. 2. Worse graphics 3. Dumber and fewer opponents. 4. Less immersive experience in PVE. IOW, you'd have to butcher the rest of the play experience....to maintain a frame rate that contributes almost nothing to the rest of the play experience. Because not only would Bungie face the problems that Gearbox is facing trying to get Borderlands 3 to run at 60 fps, they would face WORSE problems. Because Destiny is an online game...and part of its computing resources have to be used to RUN the game's networking. A problem that Gearbox doesn't have to deal with

    • Xbox coming out next year should run D2 at 60fps. If the specs they mentioned are true, it shouldn’t be a problem. Idk about PlayStation. Until then, cross play is a thing. Switch to PC.

    • Consoles are only so powerful. You can play on PC.

Thats ok if true dedicated servers, 60fps capability and crossplay (with pc/m&k filter) is available on the next gen port.

    • 1. No it won't be 30fps for 5 years because if bungie is smart they'll drop support for current gen consoles in 2021 after the new consoles drop. 2. You didn't even read that Gamespot article. Mark Noseworthy says "we could run Destiny 2 at 60fps, but the spaces would be smaller, thered be less enemies, and less players" They can't run the game on current gen console hardware without compromising the game

Destiny 2 will most likely be a crossgen game that will run on next gen consoles at 60 4K. Sony hasn’t announced its release date for PS5 but next Xbox is slated for fall of next year. You’ll get your 60+ 4K then. If you want 60 now, play on pc. Current gen hardware would require too many compromises to hit 60.

    • That last post justifies it though? Why increase the frame rate if everything else in the game would suffer?
