Will this be touched upon in Shadowkeep?
And for -blam!-s sake Bungie. Can we get back to the root story. What's going on with the Vanguard?

Yeah, she is. Can't remember what lore card but basically they told her after The Guardian killed Uldren, because she was out of contact with the Vanguard while the events of Forsaken happened. She responded weeks later, with only one word "how?"

I think that shes Morn'd enough ?! [rimshot] [crickets] Morn - Morn'd no, nothing [crickets] I'll see myself out [exits stage left]

the story is beyond the vanguard now imo

-
Their incompetent female writers have not thought of that.

Guardian,Archon Of LightRIP Destiny 9-14-2014 to 2-18-2026 - 2/19/2026 9:23:55 AM
Whats going on with the Vanguard you ask? Zevala was broken after feeling mortality again, and turned into a fearful hermit. He now believes we should stay on earth with our head down and hope nothing else happens. Ikora was further strengthened by the loss of her light, ready to fight a final battle if she had to, but is saddened and disillusioned by what Zevala has turned into, shaking her belief in him and probably starting to question if the Vanguard is still capable of fulfilling its purpose without a strong leader. Has for Eris, this is Bungie were talking about, and they have shown how little they care about continuity and connecting the dots of a story. I bet Cayde wont be mentioned at all , this DLC or the next 3 after. -
Did not know iron lords could die. until they did.

2 RepliesIf she doesn't say a word about Cayde, it will further show the detachment the devs have with this game. The story line has been fragmented.from day 1.

5 RepliesThe "root story' (such as it is) is our defending the City, and slowly taking back the solar system from The Darkness. The story of Destiny is more like Ivy than a tree. All the side branches are important. We spent the last year of the game creating alliances that will probably be important in the final battle with the Darkness itself. Events in Forsaken's campaign cemented our alliance with the Awoken. Prince Uldren essentially destroyed the remaining Fallen leadership, and then we destroyed him. Our interactions with Spider, Variks, and the Captain who led the Outbreak Perfected mission shows that we can work together wtih the Fallen. Events on the Leviathan have cemented some sort of relationship with Calus...and possibly the Cabal under his command. Events with The Drifter have cemented an **arrangement** with him....and access to some aspects of the power of The Darkness itself that we might need later. The only wildcards out there are the Hive...and the Vex. Savathun and Quria are probably working together...but the question is to what end? Its not clear what Savathun's agenda really is. From early on in the Books of Sorrow, Savathun realized that the Hive had made a Devil's Bargain with the Worm Gods. That they had basically been tricked into making the Worm Gods more powerful and helping them to evolve.....but the Hive would do all the suffering and dying. However, they'd eventually run out of things to kill, or would be consumed by their worms. Oryx killing Akka and becomign The Taken King, reshuffled the deck and bought the Hive some breathing room. But still didn't fully solve their problem. So what is not clear is whether Savathun is trying to acquire power through her "murder battery" in the Dreaming City simply to replace Oryx and eventually replace the Worm Gods..... ....or if she's doing it trying to find a way to essentially free the Hive from the **curse** they're living under. So when the final fight against the Darkness comes, its not clear which side she's going to be on. Or what her agenda really is. Which suits her reputation for strategy and scheming. So far she's fought Queen Mara to a standstill, from the shadows. Mara wound up with Oryx's realm....but Savathun wound up with Oryx's power...and Mara's power (Riven) and is holding her people hostage. The only thing keeping it from being an outright defeat is it has allowed Mara to cheat death, and to become a "player" in the game of similar stature to the Hive gods.

They seem to be hinting that shadow keep is very important to the main story

Aware? She orchestrated it...

Edited by JustDrive78: 9/17/2019 8:19:06 PMThey won't progress the Destiny story until D3. I always thought season of the drifter when you picked sides that it would change the gameplay somehow, nope, just dialogue. But we all know D3 launch will be a disaster like D1 and D2 was and it'll take a year or two to get right again.

What if cayde is somehow a new boss??? Trapped in whatever nightmare she’s talking about?
-
1 ReplyI’d rather they continued Uldren’s story. Don’t need a Taken King 2.0
-
3 RepliesIt's been a year, and she still has communication with the city, sooooo she should know.
-
See new vidoc.
-
3 RepliesI agree, we need to progress the true story more.. And we need a Cayde tributeeeeee!
-
she is in contact with him.

"Root story"? There is no "root story" in Destiny, there's multiple storylines happening at once, many of which are intertwined. Most of the storylines introduced since Forsaken are still happening in the background.
-
Not if she didn't play Forsaken ... About the story, looks like the roots don't matter much at this point.
