Khvostov exotic rework idea

So with the mighty khvostov returning in shadowkeep and its exotic counter part probably dropping at a later date, I came up with some improvements to the exotic that might make it a more viable option than the D1 version. Exotic perk Selector switch: holding the reload button switches the weapons fire mode between single and full auto. Damage changes based in the fire mode. (Got the idea after playing with the Borealis. In D1, the damage stayed the same regardless of the fire mode. To fix that, have the damage cycle increase to compensate for single fire, and decrease for full auto. Burst fire would also be removed to make swapping fire modes more efficient.) Optics: While most exotics have only one optic setting, I feel like it would be better if the rifle had two optic settings with different zooms. One would be the regular holographic that comes on the gun, good at medium to close range engagements. This optic would increase handling and, but decrease range. The alternative would be something like the mark 10 glass on the scathlocke with a little more zoom and delta crosshair for medium to long range engagements. This optic would in increase range but decrease handling. Mag perk: Drop mag: increases reload speed at the expense of losing ammo. This might not be an ideal perk for some people, but the game gives you so much primary as it is that I don't think people will have an issue. Tactical mag: slightly increase stability, reload speed, and magazine size. An alternative for those that don't want to lose ammo Weapon perk: Under pressure: improved stability and accuracy as the magazine gets lower. Another controversial perk, but I've had it on a number of autos and for mid to close range engagement it gets the job done. It would also prevent the weapon from firing like a laser beam. In single fire, it would likely be redundant since you have time line up individual shots. Base stats The weapon should be have moderate stability and handling since I believe it was a 600 rpm rifle in D1, not so much that you can punch out at the speed of light and fire it like a laser, but enough.

  • Mighty Khostov? Did you ever play D1? What is this BS? This auto cam with rise of iron, so extremely late, was nothing special and was trending for two days as every new loot from bungie. The only reason this weapon was cherished is because it was the exotic version of the first gun we were given playing Destiny 1, and because many players had kept the original assuming it would be the base for another weapon. They were right, that was the fun part of it. There were much better auto exotics or legendaries And anyway, you want it, go play D1, still plenty of players and PvP matchmaking is much faster and you don’t play vs the same 12 players all day. We’re paying here, so we want new content. Thank you.

    • Are they really going to put the exotic form back in?

      • So, I'm just going to put my own spin on this: I think that the gun should have two unique perks, it's one of the most memorable guns in the game and I think that deserves special treatment. I would like for it to be the first and only elemental primary in Destiny 2. Proof of Humanity: Kills with this weapon increase all of it's stats (damage, range, handling, RoF etc.) and stacks up to 3 times. The Proof of Humanity buff lasts for five seconds and resets on a kill. The Changing Seasons: This gun takes on the elemental properties of the class of the guardian using it.

      • There's nothing exotic about this rework. Just a worse Regime.

        • Would the scope change when you switch the RoF?

          • The fact that it has a "hold reload" to change fire rate and archetype makes me not want to use it. I already have to deal with Hardlight, Borealis, and Izanagi's Burden when holding reload to do something else. I don't need another exotic doing that.
