Borderlands 3 Buyer Beware [Update]

[Update] Gearbox is aware of split screen problems Bug mega thread I played about 2 hours last night in split screen and well, it’s pretty disappointing. Menus load incredibly slow and combine that with the already bad input lag, choosing skills or changing weapons is a chore. The UI is also just bad. Borderlands 2’s UI was miles better. When one player is using his/her echo device the frames drop to low-mid 20s and it’s horrible. There is no UI scaling as far as I’m aware, so it looks awful on split screen with a 32 inch tv. You’ll need a microscope to read the text. [This below may have been a weird split screen only bug or it’s just how it works. I haven’t played split screen again, so I don’t know.] NPCS DO NOT SHUT UP We we’re doing a quest for ClapTrap and he would repeat the SAME line every ten seconds. NPCs also like to interrupt others. We just got a new quest and we’re listening to the dialogue, then Ellie shouts her quest dialogue that is on repeat until you finish the quest and then we missed what we wanted to hear. [This bug hasn’t happened in solo play, not sure why it would happen often in split screen, but not once in solo play.] Sometimes when looking at gear in the world, the pop-up stays there until you go back and look at it. This happened maybe 10 times in 2 hours and happened several times to both of us at the same time. So we had to both walk back to the guns to make it go away. [I still stand by this until Gearbox fixes it. For a feature that I was really interested in, to be this frustrating is not acceptable.] Do not buy this game for split screen until some patches fix this. Very disappointed. I am talking mostly about split screen, solo play plays a lot better, but the ECHO menu is still pretty laggy. If you want it for solo play, go ahead and get it. I’m not hating on the game for the lulz. I’m genuinely disappointed with split screen performance. How to make shooting feel better/more like Borderlands 2
I have found how to make gunplay at least enjoyable even if there is still noticeable input lag. Turn up the sensitivity to near max, ADS sensitivity to 6-7 and vehicle sensitivity to near max. Turn off aim assist, but leave on the snap to enemy when aiming. Turn off the deadzones if your joysticks don’t drift, if they do, turn the deadzones down to 0 and bit by bit raise them until there is no drift. There is still noticeable input lag, but it feels a lot better. Turing off all social features and setting the game to local helps with the menu lag a little.
EDIT: redid some stuff for less clutter and added notes for some bug updates.

I want to reiterate, I’m saying wait for a patch if you want to buy the game for split screen. Solo play is a much better experience, but still not as good as it should be, at least for me and others in the reddit thread. If you want to still buy the game, that’s fine. I just don’t want other people thinking they will get a great experience in split screen right now. If you are playing and you have no bugs or issues, great, I wish I wasn’t as well.
