Firstly, hear me out. Hundreds of strikes, idk how many nightfalls over 150k, and I still dont have all the catalysts. Mind you, I have everything else. Or close to it, rather. What I dont have I know how to get for sure (not forgotten) With that in mind, catalysts aren't a unique item that you equip. They enhance a weapon / equipment. Ergo, they should not ever be more rare than the weapon itself. The original thought behind the catalysts drop rates and completion requirements was to "unlock them as you go", verbatim. If me, someone who has ridiculous amounts of time spent in raids and strikes, doesnt have all the raid and strike catalysts, how on earth do you expect the rest of the playerbase to have them ... idk. Ever? There's people I've played with that have never seen a single pvp catalyst (not mida), and they've played thousands (read, thousands) of crucible matches. Why? Why is it like this? Will you read / reply / address it? Probably not. But it feels good to rant.
Edit - yes I run boons, with clan mates, ect.
Edit 2 - I'm not saying make it to where you could get them all in a week, but I've been after them all since catalysts launched. Think on that for a bit. Playing through each season, except one, and doing everything dozens of times. Some, hundreds of times. Per. Season.
Edit 3 - There's a difference between keeping replayability alive and making something so abysmally low in terms of drop rate that you may never get it. If it was a weapon, a ship, some cosmetic bauble (See raid ships from d1) I could see and accept it. But it's literally catalysts that somewhat enhance exotics, and imo, make them feel actually exotic in most cases.
Edit 4 - If nothing else, I suggest what piles of other guardians have - bad luck protection that can be tracked. Bungie already has it in place for at least 1 item - contenders shell. The perks on it make sure you eventually get a bright engram by running leviathan or EOW. Why not a similar system for catalysts?
-
Yeah they really need to increase the drop rate for catalysts
-
4 RepliesI've done a fair few strikes in recent seasons due to the pinnacle weapons and think I've had 1 catalyst. Wouldn't mind a stacking buff you can earn per strike so 0.5%. So once you earned a catalyst it resets or maybe have certain few catalysts buyable with tokens that you get from strikes/NF
-
130 strikes later...no catalyst...

Edited by 4GiRLH45N0N4M3: 9/17/2019 3:40:32 AMOnly PVP catalyst I’ve managed to find was Jade Rabbit. Literally nothing else so far. I’ve found a few others but not very often by any means. I’d say Catalysts have a higher drop rate than Jotunn does. Still haven’t managed to get that so I gave up on it just like the Gally. It’s like they only want a certain percentage of people to find things in the game. Not EVERYTHING can be found by EVERY player.

I've gotten one crucible catalyst ever, and literally all the ones I've gotten from strikes have been solo, without medallions. The clan perk that is supposed to raise the drop chances with clan members is 100% confirmed broken.
-
I haven gotten all catalyst just doing the 3 weekly strikes on all characters, drop rate is fine to me or I am just really lucky
-
1 ReplyI havent even thought about it that much but yeah, Ive played about 900 crucible games in season 7 alone and the only pvp catalyst ive unlocked was the jade rabbit around 600 games. So the drop rate is about 1 in 600 i guess?
-
1 Replyi grinded them all out in 500ish nightfalls back when they were hard to get. now theyre too easy imo.got the latest 3 cataysts in 5 nightfalls.i saw someone get 3 cat in 3 nightfalls. sure rng is a -blam!- but they don't need a drop rate increase
-
I only looked when I was told there was triumph score for catalysts. I've 0 of the 11 strike catalysts, and I've run over 1400 strikes. Clearly bugged, so I've given up
-
8 RepliesI have all the catalysts across crucible and vanguard..i find turning in tokens increases your chance for catalysts. My first strike when forsaken launched my rank was like 100...and i got the wardcliff catalyst
-
19 RepliesNo I hope they don't increase the drip rate to anything. It needs to keep it's RPG elements. Replayability has to be a thing, other wise people would spend 1 week squiring everything they ever would want in the game and then just quit playing because there is nothing to play for.
-
5 Replies"But it keeps people playing" Can vouche for the opposite. Every time I've taken a break from Destiny, it's been because of an overly lengthy grind with no reward. Heaven help Bungie when the person has slightly more will power than me, and just quits the game altogether because they realize it's just a long tedious grind for the most mundane things.

1 ReplyBungie dev: Ok we hear you! ::adds 50 new types of 150 speed sparrows, 20 new ornaments::
-
They should improve Catalyst drop rate and make them drop from different activities
-
It fluctuates.
-
You know that's pretty nuts. I just got jade rabbit, colony(finally), and vigilance wing in a matter of 2 days in crucible. But none for over a month before that. Its nuts. I feel you
-
Found around 15 catalysts in the space of a month. The trick is to complete ones you’ve already unlocked. While your completing the found catalysts do activities that have a chance of dropping catalysts you don’t have.
-
7 RepliesI want those catalysts OUT OF THE RAIDS and put them somewhere, like EPs or Strikes.
-

Was playing QP with my mates, no boons just messing around, my buddy got 3 catalysts in a row. Ha! We were laughing our asses off. It was hilarious he just kept saying “I GOT ANOTHER ONE!” I think they are relatively good where they are, some tweaking to doing it with clan mates and using boons so they drop more...but on their own it seem good.
@-@
-
1 ReplyI just want one new random catalyst from xur each week.
-
Putting catalysts behind activities that only a super minute number of players have a legitimate chance of clearing multiple times was just a terrible idea when it comes to player-base satisfaction for the more casual players that are keeping D2 alive on life support. Run on, you little run on sentence. lol
-
3 RepliesWouldn't it just make sense to earn a catalyst by...idk...using the gun. Random drops for catalysts is dumb.
-
2 RepliesEdited by IronMaiden: 9/15/2019 9:01:00 AMnear on or over 300 pvp games done this season (i stopped playing pvp after the last ib) many wins under my belt and not once have i received the suros cat funny thing is do my clan team members got on there first try witch pissed me right off
-
That sucks, but they have dropped more since they increased the drop rates. Especially the first week they introduced a lot of the new ones, the first time you finished a nightfall with a different character, 1 would drop. Tips to help get them: - run strikes/nightfalls with clan mates, especially if you have that clan perk unlocked, it does help - swtich up between nightfalls and strikes...i'd recommend more nightfalls than strikes Other than that, it is all rng. Sometimes you wont have them drop for awhile, and sometimes you can get them in back to back strikes/nightfalls. Trying to get crucible cats is more frustrating.

4 RepliesI need Mida (never gonna happen stupid behind comp) Sleeper (no one does it now) !!!!
