I've spent 18,000 gunsmith materials trying to get an antiope that is a god roll, or at least just decent. So far with no luck. I've gotten 3 antiopes all together and 4 exotics from banshee. It would be nice (since the gunsmith is such a big deal in shadowkeep) that the cost to rank up was taken down to maybe 50. Anyone agree?
There are many ways to approach this issue but the cost is simply too much when there are so many weapons. Below are some ways to maybe fix it besides outright needing the cost.
1. Or, to incentivize people playing activities they don't want to, there could be a discount system. If you complete the milestone for the week per specific activity then the corresponding vendor could give a discount.
2. Or every package turned in makes the next one cheaper. Leaving the tower resets the discount.
3. Remove all year 1 (static rolled) weapons from the loot pool.
4. Allow us to choose the weapons we want just like the menagerie/ada-1/D1 banshee. Even if it was just once per week like d1. Eventually I will get my god roll. It isn't guaranteed by rng. The system in d1 did this quite nicely. This would mean that no weapons would have to be removed from the loot pool since we can choose our rewards. More could actually be added.
5. Allow us to buy gunsmith materials from a vendor
Of course there are many ways to change it, but these are just some ways.
Thanks to all that supported this.

100 parts for 1 engram is a rip off. That fact that you have to delete 33 legendaries to get 99 weapon parts to buy 1 engram to get 1 legendary is a perfect reminder about why the economy in this game sucks so bad. 20 tokens for an engram from Shaxx, Lord Saliden, or Zavala 60 materials for an engram from Devrim, Sloan, Brother Vance, and Ashir but 80 from Ana? Then Banshee is like, hold my beer and watch this!? 100 is way too much!

I think it would go something like this... We hear you Guardians, and we are making changes to streamline the economy. We are bringing back planetary tokens! Tokens 2.0 - and before you ask, these tokens are new and improved and old tokens have been deprecated. To further streamline the new economy, Gunsmith will only accept planetary tokens, and each engram will require a total of 100 tokens comprised of 25 tokens from 4 different planets. Mix and match however you want, but each engram will require 100 tokens from 4 different planets. Gunsmith Materials are being deprecated. We recognize many of you have amassed a large number of Gunsmith Materials, and to compensate you for your hard work and achievement, we will also allow the exchange Gunsmith Materials 1-for-1 for Glimmer to get you started on your path to reaching the new Glimmer cap. Additionally, anyone who has more than 20,000 Gunsmith Materials in their inventory will also receive the “FUHoarder” emblem which you can wear with pride. ...Shortly after launch... Pardon our dust. We just became aware of a pesky bug where some materials are no longer stacking to 9;999 and have reverted back to stacks of 999. Specially, Gunsmith Materials have been impacted. Further, we intended to automatically exchange Gunsmith Materials for Glimmer, but sometimes the best intentions fall short of their goals. Unfortunately, the fix is more complicated than it seems on the surface and it will take some time to correct. As a work around, you will have to discard Gunsmith Materials one by one. ...a couple months after launch... We hear you again Guardians. We agree the drop rates of planetary tokens is too low. 1 token per public event and 1 token per Lost Sector chest is too much of a grind. So, we will increase those drops by 100% effective next reset. Additionally, Nightfall completions will now reward 3 tokens per completion up to 6 tokens per character per week. I could continue; but you all know the drill/cycle...

Are you joking, I have over 4000 in my vault and another 2000 in my inventory, please no.
-
Make everything cheaper across the board, It’ll value player time.
-
You get exotics from banshee it must be nice. It's never happened for me.
-
-
-
Feel your pain. I was lucky enough to get a balling antiope. It’s on my hunter if you want to take a look. I’m in the same situation with the service revolver.
-
Banshee just needs new weapons with updated perks such as Bombardier and multi-killclip
-
I very much agree
-
Maybe if Banshee offered more than the same 4 or 5 drops each time you paid up?
-
Unfortunately Bungie set the cost for Banshee based on those who were hoarding thousands of materials. Thing is though, this isn't the norm nor should it be the basis for the cost. I fully agree the amount needs to be changed.
-
Bungie-We are listening, Crucible and vanguard rewards will now cost 100 tokens.
-
-
..... Or you can take the amount of gunsmith materials out for each level up immediately instead of slowly and painfully chunking your way up to the max needed to drop a weapon just take the amount needed out on the first push I don't go there because it takes forever I have like 7000 gunsmith materials.
-
What if Banshee didn't offer the weapons at all. just bounties and mods? What if each gun manufacturer had their own Rep in the tower for you to cash resources in at. So you could exclusively invest your mats for Example: Hakke's Halfdan/Antiope/Eystein/ weapons? Or Maybe even... A bounty that can assure your next rank up reward has a certain Masterwork? would that not bring more focus on buildcrafting by adding a small fraction of the Menagerie/Chalice success to other aspects of the game.
-
50 is still too many. They need to move them all back down to 20. Hell, it’s not like you can go farm weapons for free now in the Menagerie! Bungie has just forgotten about banshee. Or they really are the anti fun police! Cue N.W.A.!!!
-
50, would be nice.

Edited by neonsox42: 9/10/2019 5:57:14 PMI get about 30 blues per day (3 hours) and 3-8 legendaries depending on if I have milestones or not. 1 Gunsmith mat per blue, 3 per legendary. That’s approximately 30 + 24 on a good day. So 2 days for a Gunsmith rank-up and 200 for 10,000 mats. 32 weapons in the loot pool with even chances of it being any of them + the additional 1 worth of exotic weapon chance. That means you have a 1/33 chance to get the weapon you want per rank up. That means you should get the weapon you want roughly every 3300 mats. This means once every 66 days. Combine that with the tons of perks perks on weapons and it becomes less and less likely that you’ll get he weapon you want with the roll you want without serious grinding. If you want mats fast, grind the strikes playlist or blind well as they have good blue drop rates and have a decent chance to earn legendaries for the amount of time they are. An easy way Bungie can help is to remove world drop weapons from the Gunsmith pool. That would remove 12 slots and drastically increase the chances of getting a Gunsmith Weapon.
-
Yeah, it'll make grinding for a drop mag, kill clip, stability MW Halfdan a more pleasant experience
-
How about this If you get over 100,000 points in the Nightfalls you get 50% discount with vendors This includes crucible too
-
I just want the gunsmith to stop giving me crooked fangs. I already receive a bunch of them from regular packages.
-
Agreed. They need to put it back to the way it was in y1. Especially if a lot of new players start playing with new light. They will be starting from scratch and have nothing.
-
gunsmith is just a garbage recycler, utterly pointless even turning in the scraps just a training mode to make susceptible minds want lootboxes more
-
Just think another year of earning the same exact weapons. Oh joy
