Bungie claims this is a “social” game, yet doesn’t provide the proper tools for us to be sociable.
Why is the LFG feature on an external app and not in-game?
Why isn’t *optional* matchmaking introduced to more activities like the nightfall?
I’m a 40 year old guy. I don’t have pages and pages of gamer friends to call on. I appreciate that some challenges require a fire team. Currently I hit up LFG on Xbox but it’s not ideal. The method for connecting with other guardians should be in the game.

In D2 zero of those friends still play, and I have been through 4 clans that all quit over time as well. Even in the clan I have been in for a few seasons because they maintain active players we have a very high turn over of players who quit playing the game so we have to replace them with new players. Some stick around and some have to be replaced.

Can you explain how you'd do matchmaking for the nightfall?l It'd have to ignore the ticket thing you get from xur and function pretty differently from how it currently does
-
A possible solution would be to have 3 different versions of the nightfall: 1. Normal nightfall - optional matchmaking 2. Nightfall with Bungie curated modifiers - optional matchmaking 3. Nightfall with user generated modifiers (the existing Xur one) - no matchmaking.
-
That would actually work very well.
-
While it'd be nice to have that many options Idk if destiny has the player base to sustain that.

How does it work today within "guided games"? Genuine question. I haven't used that feature since vanilla. I'd bet the 5 of swords still works in guided games. Whoever is fireteam leader sets the parameters. In game matchmaking would do the same.
How does it work today within "guided games"?
It doesn't lol. Never did but I think that's more of an issue with there not being enough sherpas to solo/duo players queuing into guided games My only problem with the fireteam matchmaking though, is would you have people leaving when the nightfall loads and it's let's say arc burn and blackout but the one guy wanted to do solar burn and iron or something?
-
Yep, would be an issue for sure. Maybe they'd load into the strike, go back to orbit to adjust loadouts and then go back in? We'll have to wait and see how the upcoming changes affect things. I'm betting the add MM for all but the hardest nightfalls. I could be way off base tho, just a guy feeling I have.

Spot on 👍

Do onboard with nightfall being matchmaking, I’m in a clan but most don’t play when I’m on and I sometimes just want to knock out a few things and be done but everyone wants to raid etc.

Agreed 👍
