Please read this post in its entirety. I don’t want to confuse anyone.
If you read Bungie’s Terms of Use carefully, especially where it discusses griefing, you will realize that A LOT of players violate Bungie’s Terms of Use habitually and they get away with it because either people don’t report the bad behavior or they just don’t know it’s a violation.
Spamming special ammo weapons (fusions, shotguns, grenade launchers, snipers, Arbalist, etc), without using a primary ammo weapon is griefing/sabotage. This does NOT mean that someone who repeatedly uses any of those weapons is violating Bungie’s Terms of Use. It’s only a violation when they don’t use anything else. For example, in a Crucible match, if someone has a sniper and a fusion equipped, their ammo they spawn with is reduced by half. Scavenger perks are not potent enough to make the player have a substantial amount of ammo when picked up either. If said player is using nothing but said weapons, habitually, persistently, and repeatedly, it is a violation of Bungie’s Terms of Use. Another example is someone who has a primary ammo weapon equipped but is spamming Mountaintop non-stop and not using their primary ammo weapon at all, even when out of special ammo, is also a violation of Bungie’s Terms of Use.
If you believe someone is griefing this way, I encourage you to be sure that they are indeed griefing. Some times it may go missed if that person may or may not have been using a primary ammo weapon too. You should be able to tell if they are spamming or not. If you still don’t know, record the match and you may even want to consider sending them a private message warning them that you suspect they are griefing and let them know you are recording the match and will report them if they do not correct their bad behavior.
Again, I hope you have read the post in its entirety before you start sending hate messages. Not everything is considered griefing. Using only a particular special ammo weapon type or types in a match is griefing.
With all of these one-hit-kill weapons available now and without Bungie expediting balances and fixes to these weapons, it is critical we all hold each other accountable and make the gameplay run a lot smoother and make it more fun for everyone. Spamming Jotunn or Militia’s Birthright non-stop is not only annoying and inconsistent with Bungie’s vision for these weapons, it is a violation of Bungie’s Terms of Use. If you decide to report someone, please be sure they were indeed griefing. Reporting people just because you think they are griefing but unsure may end up getting you suspended or banned too. If you don’t know how to report people, Bungie has detailed this for us in their Terms of Use available here in the app. Report them for “griefing” and then the next option is “sabotage.”

3 RepliesBungie will not punish a player for just playing the game. Players are encouraged to enjoy Destiny in whatever way they find fun: dancing on a Vendor’s head in the Tower, spamming grenades in Crucible matches, or just climbing a cliff in the open world to sit for hours enjoying the gorgeous view. It’s the player’s choice on how to they wish to enjoy their time in Destiny. If they are merely playing the game, then they are not doing anything wrong.
