So we’ve heard the news on the nerf. A lot of us are 50 50 about it as shown in other polls. As you can easily guess? I don’t agree with it one bit personally having played all 3 classes.
Disclaimer: I wish no misfortune upon Datto, I have watched his content until recently but I have friends who watch his content still. I speak with them and discuss things. He is a streamer and a destiny content creator and this post may as well be free real estate for him. Coding, designing a raid or anything else is a difficult task. I’ll acknowledge that. This community will find ways to break the game once again and this cycle will repeat. I don’t like Datto, but that’s just me. You’re free to your own thoughts. Datto himself speaks for his community as it’s been said repeatedly in the comment section below. Datto merely said something I disagree with, that’s a difference in opinion. Remember, streamers are people and are human.
Personally I don’t even agree with this nerf playing all 3 classes and someone who knows streamers most definitely represent their communities. Within Respect I know we’re very very much conflicted on what we want. we’re people and that’s how it ends up being. By this point I’m mostly curious. I’m genuinely unhappy with it but as I said? Coding and AI are hard to make decent. I’ve already done the song and dance with balance and game breaking things. There’s a lot of room for discussion. I know the streamers mention a lot of things, Bungie listens to them. Try to be somewhat civil because I won’t try to insult him; if I recall Datto admits he wants the game to be harder and he’s on the elite side of the community. I’ll still play the game during Shadowkeep. but I do feel like warlocks and titans are now closer to being useless.
Edit: This post was edited heavily. I expect the poll votes to change heavily. I am slow, not stupid. This post is quite literally a literal hellhole where everyone apparently can speak freely. I like being civil, I’m human after all.
Remember, I speak for myself. I don’t speak for the community so don’t misconceive me as trying to do so.

1 ReplyScape goat, that's all he is to you people
-
Datto represents himself, but happens to share the common opinion. The nerf is 100% necessary.
-
1 ReplyI like him as a youtuber, but he and the others gotta realise that not all of as can do destiny 24/7, yeah shocker but that's that.

2 RepliesEdited by W33DEDPLAGUE: 9/5/2019 4:08:53 AMMan...you think Datto is the only one who feels that way? No, he doesn't speak for everyone but that doesn't mean others don't share the same opinion. I totally think the nerf is necessary. They didn't have to tell me that content had to be designed around those supers, abilities, and exotics. I can see it with my own 2 eyes. This is better for the long-term health of the gameplay and if you think they did it because Datto said so, I don't know how to reason with you. If they value his opinion so much, why wouldn't they just hire him? People want to believe that Bungie designs for a very small percentage of their base, but fail to stop and consider the logic of that. Why would they want to make their game for as few people as possible? That would be a GENIUS business move. I wish people would stop acting as if Bungie is designing solely for streamers...because they simply arent. I kind of feel bad for those guys actually. They are getting a lot of crap they really don't deserve. There are tons of things streamers have asked for and it hasn't happened. And since when do all streamers 100% agree with each other anyway? It's such a cop-out, but people need a scapegoat when things aren't made exactly to their personal preference and streamers surely are an easy target. I domt always agree with streamers, i dont share all of their opinions but I'm also logical enough to know that their word isn't final when it comes to the design of the game. Edit: Reading through the replies, it's kind of unbelievable and sad how many people actually believe that Datto, or whoever else does youtube, is dictating the game design. It makes no sense in so many ways but people love scapegoats and cherry-picking small out of context bits of info to back up their flimsy arguments. Just because Bungie believes the same changes should be made, doesn't mean they did it BECAUSE the streamer had the same opinion. These forums are really hard to stomach sometimes, wow. I shouldn't be surprised though, the Internet has allowed all of mankind to allow confirmation-bias and herd mentality to solidify their own personal perspective...whether it's logical or not.

Muted.

2 RepliesAs someone who used lunas it's about time they were changed. Mindlessly sitting in a well melting a boss in one phase is ridiculously boring. Now it's time to use other exotics in pve.

Edited by Av! (Adept): 9/5/2019 8:21:02 AMNo, but when he has over 1 millions followers and is watched by millions Bungie are more likely to listen to him then they are us! I have nothing against streamers but I also don't take the time to watch them play it when I'd rather be playing it myself!
-
9 RepliesDefinitely not. It’s Datto’s full time job. His experience in D2 is so different to mine that we might as well be playing different games. I genuinely can’t understand why Bungie seek his opinions.

No streamer should ever represent the community as a game. Streamers bring hype to games thou, but represent? Nah, not so much,. And thats subjective per person anyway. One person can share opinion with a streaemr. I share alot with saynotorage for instance but he does not represent me, the community or anyone but himself.

8 RepliesHas anyone ever claimed that he does?

No one represents me or speaks for me.

He has ~1M followers. He is popular He can do charity events for publicity He is invited to events He is referenced by the game developers He is influential He helps sell the game to gullible sheep crowd He has a media face and is liked by some people He is hard core player Tick any box that is applicable for you. If not, then I'm afraid Bungie prefers him to millions of faceless players due to the market economics. Datto is the only streamer I dislike and I have no grudges against other top streamers like gladd or sweatcicle. Bungie is in a bad position and they need Datto's support to promote their game. If this keeps on going, then people who disagree with Datto will eventually leave the game and his sheep crowd will play this game. This will make it easy for Bungie to manage the expectations of players and keep hitting their low target. D1 was a great game, it had raids and Trials. There were god tier trials streamers who stole the show back then and it was good because no matter what gun or ability spam you threw at them they prevailed. Now, most of them have gone to other competitive fps/3ps games. Right or wrong, Datto is a celebrity in his tiny world so he is doing what he has to do to survive. Bungie is making the mistake of sacrificing the lambs who made D1 the best selling game of its era but hey it's their choice. This, to me, looks like a player base purge to fulfill a selfish agenda. One of the life experiences that I've constantly been reminded of again and again is that selfishness will always cause more harm than good therefore I won't be surprised if 85% from this poll results won't be here in next dlc of this franchise....

1 ReplyEdited by Snafu Gundam: 9/5/2019 6:09:24 AMThe stupidest poll I have ever seen on this site. No the Manchild that constantly whines for nuffs, wants things to be super hard to collect for everyone but himself, is dependent on his clan for everything in destiny related activities/bounties/quests, and begs for money from idiots on twitch, does not represent everyone.

In a way he speaks for the raiding community. Destiny raids have never been difficult and more so D2 when you can one phase a boss with basic buff management. (One of the first things you learn in raiding is party buff stacking). Yes, Destiny raid design for bosses need to change, but that is a long term change that would either A) Start being changed in following raids that are in mid development B) Destiny 3 You don't just snap your fingers and add stuff you never had in the game before, but the silence from Datto about the complaints on raid boss design and even all other streamers.... is honestly straight up BS. Like seriously, alot of casual players won't know this but... these aren't raid bosses. They are just a slightly tweaked puzzle encounter from the previous encounters you have been doing in the raid with a DPS check. That's all they are. The bosses don't attack the group often and the fight clearly don't revolve around them. Instead its breaking an invuln shield before the enrage timer goes off that wipes the group. Now here is the thing about that: These phases actually do exist in raiding, but they aren't the entire encounter. They are usually at max a minute long before resuming the "raid boss dance" of dodging boss attacks/mechanics and keeping constant DPS as you slowly wittle down the boss. The problem is these phases aren't the most enjoyable in raiding... and Bungie decided to make raid bosses the entire most hated phases in all of raiding. It makes me question Datto's real experience with raiding outside of Destiny honestly... yeah he raided in WoW... and most WoW players would say Destiny raiding is sh*t.

9 RepliesLuna's & rally were never an issue until it was made an issue.......Just saying

1 ReplyI, Alien the Human, speak for the entire community when I say that Datto may not speak for us...or he may....but he is not qualified to rock pink hair.

Edited by DeathPony07: 9/5/2019 7:46:04 AMNo. He represents elitists. The people that talk down to inexperienced players but don't offer to help them. They all have expert raid teams and hundreds of raid clears. Meanwhile, I can't find a clan that raids regularly. I had 247 raid clears in D1. I have 47 in D2. Including, 5 LW clears, 6 SotP clears, and 2 CoS clears. I hardly have any of the gear from any of these raids either, because the RNG in this game is garbage, and keeps giving me stuff I've received multiple times. I'm beyond frustrated.

2 RepliesHe certainly doesn’t represent this little cesspool of a community commonly referred to as the Bungie.Net forums.
-
Edited by Hunter_Umbra: 9/5/2019 7:40:20 AMNo single person can represent a community. But anyone who is foolish enough to think that Datto's video is what got Luna and Rally Barricade changed is just...I...I lose brain cells trying to even come up with a word to describe that level of stupidity.

The bigger issue is Luke Smith...

1 ReplyWhat community?

Mos def bro

Edited by Ken_Malibu: 9/5/2019 7:01:13 AMFirstly this forum doesn't even represent the community. It represents a small section of the player base, mainly casual players. Secondly forget streamers and Datto etc. Well is a crutch, auto reload is a crutch. 1 phasing everything in 30 seconds is a crutch. We didn't have any of this in D1 and we got on perfectly without them. (When you see teams demanding minimum 2-3 warlocks because they can't do the raid any other way then yeah something's gone a bit wrong)

Edited by Smough: 9/5/2019 6:58:34 AMIt’s hard if not impossible to properly represent a community so whiny, childish, toxic, and entitled as the destiny community. So in that sense, no I don’t think Datto represents the community. While he certainly has his problems as we all do, I think he is still a better person for bungie to listen to than at least 80% of the people on the forums.

6 RepliesWho the hell voted Yes? 😂

The attention shouldn't be brought to the streamer as much as it should be toward the waterheads that tune in and support them.
