So we’ve heard the news on the nerf. A lot of us are 50 50 about it as shown in other polls. As you can easily guess? I don’t agree with it one bit personally having played all 3 classes.
Disclaimer: I wish no misfortune upon Datto, I have watched his content until recently but I have friends who watch his content still. I speak with them and discuss things. He is a streamer and a destiny content creator and this post may as well be free real estate for him. Coding, designing a raid or anything else is a difficult task. I’ll acknowledge that. This community will find ways to break the game once again and this cycle will repeat. I don’t like Datto, but that’s just me. You’re free to your own thoughts. Datto himself speaks for his community as it’s been said repeatedly in the comment section below. Datto merely said something I disagree with, that’s a difference in opinion. Remember, streamers are people and are human.
Personally I don’t even agree with this nerf playing all 3 classes and someone who knows streamers most definitely represent their communities. Within Respect I know we’re very very much conflicted on what we want. we’re people and that’s how it ends up being. By this point I’m mostly curious. I’m genuinely unhappy with it but as I said? Coding and AI are hard to make decent. I’ve already done the song and dance with balance and game breaking things. There’s a lot of room for discussion. I know the streamers mention a lot of things, Bungie listens to them. Try to be somewhat civil because I won’t try to insult him; if I recall Datto admits he wants the game to be harder and he’s on the elite side of the community. I’ll still play the game during Shadowkeep. but I do feel like warlocks and titans are now closer to being useless.
Edit: This post was edited heavily. I expect the poll votes to change heavily. I am slow, not stupid. This post is quite literally a literal hellhole where everyone apparently can speak freely. I like being civil, I’m human after all.
Remember, I speak for myself. I don’t speak for the community so don’t misconceive me as trying to do so.

7 Replieshe doesn't represent the whole community, but he does represent a part of this community. You should have seen the line at his booth at guardian con, the man has a following.
-
3 Replies1) No singular person represents the entire community, your post is not only disingenuous but flat out non-sensical. It would a straight up lie to say he represents everyone because he simply does not. What I can say is I bet he represents a good deal more people than you. 2) Datto did not change luna/barricade. Bungie did. They looked at a suggestion from an entire OCEAN of suggestions, tried it, and found it would benefit the game for the audience they are targetting. They implemented it and we will have to play it for ourselves. Datto is not responsible. 3) Stop trying to blame other people for having opinions, suggestions, criticism etc. its disgusting, dishonest and does not shine you in a good light. 4) Luna and barricade's automatically infinite reloads were and ARE overpowered. Whether you like that or not is irrelavent. The game has to deal with powercreep in some fashion, the end game is not at its best and there are huge ammount of players who want more rewarding challenge in the game. They are not directly nerfing grenade launchers (the current top loadout) so this should be great news for most people. Reload speed has been used to balance guns in FPS games since the dawn of classic DOOM. It is a fundamental mechanic that allows guns to be distinct and have advantages and disadvantages. Want a huge massive laser beam that blows everything up? Sure but itll take a long while to reload. Meanwhile a pistol will have low damage but high reload speed. Its such a simple concept and automatic reloads simply removed that aspect of balancing which was not healthy for the game. If you want an infinitely powercreeping mess of an end-game where you 1 shot everything until the core flaws of the system show its age. go play Warframe. The Destiny devs to not want a situation like Warframe and I commend them for that. P.S. Im not a streamer, are you gonna try shutting me down to?

6 RepliesEdited by ETERNAL: 9/5/2019 12:47:19 PMDatto represents the Destiny community FAR better than the average player posting on here, including myself. The collective impression Bungie gets from the trending topics here has to be both hilarious and embarrassing. I hope that their decisions are largely unaffected by the jaded whining found here.

Not the whole community, of course. He is A SINGLE member of the community that gives voice to his own opinions. Many people agree with him, many others don't. I follow his videos on YT; there are times when I agree with him and others when I think he is totally wrong and missing things. I think that Datto is probably the only YTer to fully understand certain situations about the game and he knows how to explain them in an educated way. That's why, even when I disagree with him, I can still watch a video made by him 'til the end. He also knows how "to-put-the-hands-in-front-of-him" in order to avoid useless criticism like at the beginning of the Rant video about the PvP and the PvE Power Creep. In his videos, either he agrees or disgrees with something that is happening in D2, he is always able to say that without going against Bungie or the Community in general. He knows how to keep both feet in the same shoe. Other YTrs are always or too much vague about what they say, or too much sided. For example, those that explain something that is going on in the game, but in the end they never take a side like if it's wrong or not. Others are instead really too much sided with the game and Bungie and even when something is absolutely s*** they are all like "Yeah, but it's not that bad!" It is still great! I think that they will fix it, they will find how to fix it! Everything is okay". Or like, when they "review" a new Weapon that Weapon is always GREAT! FANTASTIC! SO POWERFULL! REALLY GOOD! even if that weapon is actually meh. On the other hand, there are those YTrs that basically every video they make is a rant, a compilation of many minutes of them complaining about everything with some sily vitriol sarcasm. I really can't stand them.

Well he is the biggest destiny YouTuber for the sole reason most people like his content and agree with what he says.
-
Datto and streamers in general represent a small portion of the community, but sometimes it feels like they were appointed to be the voice of the entire player base.

9 RepliesNo individual represents a group, unless they elect them to do so. I don't know who this guy is. Don't care honestly, but I've seen his tag come up quite often. That's the problem with internet pseudo celebrity status. It gives individuals far too much more presence than other individuals, for no good reason other than they publicize themselves. But when a developer starts giving individuals priority in order to garner more advertising, that's the sign that they should no longer be given anyone else's time. That's not community outreach. That's pandering. I never have and never will understand why people watch or subscribe to attention -blam!-. Especially ones playing games that you could be playing yourself. Sure, go to youtube to see what / how / why to be able to do achievements and what not, but following someone and giving them pseudo celeb status just because they have a channel? Moronic. There are better things to do with your time.

3 RepliesIf they continue to design the game and it's play around the players that play the game for a living soon that will be all the players they have left.

Streamer this, streamer that... Raids have fallen off... I remember when the loot we received from completions actually mattered. Now raiding is a streamer spectacle based around World's First streamers competing for a wrestling belt rather than the actual loot. Crown of Sorrows loot is crap, Scourge of the Past loot is crap, and basically everything is aside from an exotic or two. It's very irritating because I love raiding, but not when it's to get an irrelevant real life belt that R-Truth could end up pinning you for to add to his 747 24/7 7-Eleven European TV Championship.

5 RepliesI seen one picture of him , you could see his ego and that was enough for me . What a dik Wish he read this
-
I agree with most but not all of his opinions. This poll is too binary
-
You people just don't understand that YouTubers and streamers are free advertising..... Wouldn't you support them too?
-
Nope,i thought deej did ?

-
-
Just wanna punch his face.....
-
Certainly I've heard of this guy but never watched any of his material, so I cannot vote or comment. Tbh, I never watch streamers in action, and don't know why anyone does, when they have the game themselves. However, I have subscribed to quite a few youtubers who's content is informative and often humerous and normally helps me get through the tougher challenges
-
not really and seems he more concerned with losing his perks with bungo. D1 his you tube channel was handy for quests and useful info on the game. as a streamer i would rather watch paint dry. one word sums up his streaming 'boring'. but as time gone on he more worried about upsetting bungo then giving a true picture of the game. but most you tubers and streamers are the same. this is why destiny in such a bad way. bungo listen to people who are just yes men/women. thats why I will be saying no thanks to shadowkeep. bungo you should be worried losing a player like me. playing from the beta in D1 to now. yes i've had time away from the game. but always come back. defended you at the begin of D1 as i could see there was a future for the game. but now no future. its not the grind but bungo are just sugar coating the same shit.
-
I've told YT not to recommend him.
-
Hell yea, he‘s the community hero
-
Remember when we had to step in and out of the rift, and then t-bag behind the barricade to reload your weapon? They changed it to just stand mindlessly in the rift and behind the barricade. They had to change it. Challenging encounters become boring standing in one spot.
-
No, but he has major influence and a huge following. I personally agree with many things he says, because Im a sheep, but I understand how the community can be frustrated with him. Even though Bungie has done many things in response to angry fans but everyone seems to brush the things they actually have done to the side and only focus on the negatives.
-
1 ReplyIt’s not really about who represents the community, it’s more of who shouts louder. YouTube’s have a bigger voice than us because they’ve got a ‘fan base’. It’s accurate to say that Datto can represent many within his fan base for various things. That means while he’s voicing his own concerns, other people may relate to that and agree. It’s not their job to voice other people’s opinions, it’s their channel after all. He only voices his own and people either agree or don’t, though he still has more backing than most places. That means he’s a good reference for feedback, but not the only one that should be considered.
I don’t like Datto at all, or any Destiny content creators. That’s all.
1 ReplyNah but gladd does lol..... nah we all just ppl working together to take on challenges in the game. When destiny does eventually end. We all look back at the amazing fun and frustration and be happy and lucky that we got to experience a game like this cause there alot of people that has past away that would love to see how destiny envolve
-
first of .. who da -blam!- is datto after all ? i never heared of him before, only in this forum 2x so far .... anyway iam a part of the community, NOONE speaks for me.i can speak for myself, and make up my mind by myself. so if anyone claims he speaks for me, i greatly happy, to put my finger in his ass, and play the puppet theater with him !

I don't have anything against Datto as an individual,he is a nerd ( no pun intended, but that's a fact ) who plays video games .Some of his videos are very informative and others are just rants because for someone like him, who plays D2 almost 24/7 , the game is too easy.Bungie should NEVER listen to people like him to balance their game Does he represent this community? Of course not, he is a top 1% player and he makes a living out of playing video games.Good for him.Why does he get so much hate lately? I dunno, he's always been like this and honestly I think he doesn't deserve to be pointed as the guilty one for D's nerfs because he's done no harm to any of us.Destiny is just a videogame, the real problem here is that many people take this too seriously
