Giving all power 750 was a HUGE mistake

The news that everyone and their grandmother will get all of their gear upgraded to 750 automatically has had a fantastic impact. With one simple line of text Bungie effectively removed any purpose for most people to keep playing until the next content drop. Now here I am, one of the rare idiots left stuck with the worst crucible matchmaking I have experienced since launch. Half of the games I get players from the other side of the world so with a latency comparable to pigeon mail and the other half of the games I get to join in progress matches were the enemy team is fully stacked with bottom three striker supers and several rounds of heavy. It is not fun. It was a stupid move.

  • I'm not opposed bungie providing everyone an easy way to get 750 power for "free". I just think it was not a clever move to announce it publicly since they removed one of the reasons to keep playing for many casual players - thus reducing the player pool and putting even more strain on the already struggling crucible matchmaking. Give everyone a magic pile of fairy dust on day 1 of the new season or something... but publicly announcing that it is pointless to grind is not healthy if you want to maintain a decent player pool

  • I'll never understand why people play just to reach that magic power number. I've been there for a couple of months now...and I still play the game. You know why? Because playing to get the max power isn't even the smallest part of a reason to play this game.

    • Triple 750 here and well the cap has always been nothing more than a bragging right. If you hit them easily, it shouldnt be a problem with shadowkeep. I for one, am not bothered, more people playing on par is better for everyone. Put yourself in the shoes of everyone who will be joining, getting to the new cap level from scratch will pretty much deter a huge chunk of newbies. I got a couple of irl buddies joining destiny, and the power bump will mean that I can play with them on equal footing.

    • There is still plenty to play if you want. Maybe you are still missing that god roll Swarm of the Raven or a better Service Revolver. Point is there is stuff to do if you want to, otherwise go do something else.
