Emulation Policy

According to your banning policy, the use of an emulator or virtual machine is grounds for a ban. Does this extend to running Windows as a virtual machine under something such as QEMU?

Bungie's official policy can be found over at https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Account-Restrictions-and-Banning-Policies/en/Help/Article/11929 While the list there is not entirely everything that can lead to a ban, it does give a general idea of many things that can. Bungie will not give specifics as to what their systems look for specifically when detecting cheats, nor will Bungie elaborate or give a definitive list on every possible way to get banned. - With that being said, please consider the following: You said you've read the policy and noted that it specifically says emulators and virtual machines can lead to a ban. It has been pointed out and noted that the program you're discussing specifically states that it's a machine emulator and virtualizer. I think it's a reasonable assumption to consider something described as a "machine emulator and virtualizer" fits the bill of "emulators and virtual machines". So, considering the program almost literally defines itself the same way that the line in question says is a possible reason to get banned, I would not recommend using the program to play Destiny 2. It is up to you to decide whether or not you wish to take that chance; Bungie will not share the specifics on what their systems go through to detect such, so the choice is yours, and asking for specifics won't really give you any more information than you currently have available, as Bungie won't give in and answer your request for specifics.

  • I don't think bungie could tell the difference between windows running on metal or under a virtual machine. I'd like a response from bungie, not assumptions made by fans.

Yes anything that emulates anything or injects anything or runs in the backround and could be a cheat is a bannable offence.
