PvP is inconsistent.

Short and sweet. I literally 5 minutes ago 1 shot a hunter while he was in his super with a shotgun. the same shotgun without reloading, 5 seconds later, I hit a warlock running through a doorway point blank in the chest, no super active no death but he 1 punches me dead. I pop my super, sentinel shield, hold guard walk through a door and I'm done with 1 shot of an arbalest? drop a suppressor grenade at the feet of a spectral blader and he is immune as he keeps spamming light attack to close the gap and kill me easily, pop my super again, light attack another titan, he punches me dead and he survives? All of this happened in 1 match. just fvck off outta this nonsense excuise for PvP.

  • Yep, me with a shotgun meets Warlock with a shotgun. We’re three feet apart. My gun goes boom first, then his goes boom. I die. Happens all the time. Sunshot with catalyst has major range and damage stats. Every time I meet another hand cannon I get one or two shot killed from 100 yards and my gun does zip. This is why I hate Crucible.

  • Destiny pvp is only consistent for sone top players. Their bullets always do good damage and their enemy's bullets miss them all the time.

  • Earlier today somebody killed me in 4 shots (from max health, mind you) while using a Suros Regime. You REALLY hate to see it.

  • I've been noticing a lot of things have been saying "immune" lately. Seriously, what's that about? I throw pulse grenades and I raged when I saw "immune" pop on a player rushing towards me with a shotgun. What was obviously a direct hit ended up doing no damage. I don't understand.

  • Yep. Never had a PvP match that I didn't want to declare shenanigans on at least once in a match. I especially enjoy stuff like 1v1ing someone on the other side of the map, head-shotting away with my exotic scout rifle and being outgunned by a misfit.

  • That’s what Destiny pvp has always been, ever so often the outcome of a fight is 90% connection and 10% skill.... It’s an inconsistent P2P-shitshow.

  • Crucible complaint number: 1,235,698 Bungie response: we are listening, we'll notify the sandbox team. Results: Luke Smith waxes nostalgic in a 4,000,000 word diatribe, essentially saying yah we crucible is broken. The most consistent lore in this game is the history of Bungie's relationship with its community and its inability to affect positive, lasting change.

  • PvP shouldn't be in Destiny. It's terrible, and it was terrible even in the 1st game. It's taking time from improving and making more PvE, and it's just never good or balanced or whatever. It's literally unplayable. The shotgun situation you mentioned? Yeah, I feel you. I point blank a dude with the Ikelos and get a hit marker, he one-shots me from 5-7 meters with it with full HP. Supers are even worse. I get Blade Barraged through my arcstrider, but when I do it to people, they barely get scratched. Shoulder charge Fist of Havoc super lasts forever, I got spawn killed by it for a minute straight just the other day.

OP, nice post I have found an article made by an software engineer guru regarding p2p, bungie networkign and the downsides to it, you may find it interesting to read, this dude clearly knows his stuff, basically bungie are cheap devs who doesnt care for player experience in game, they just want numbers numbers numbers playing, no matter if they lag or not https://gist.github.com/nessus42/a0e2826683e9fad3027728dde78310e3
A dedicated server doesn't typically have to explicitly enforce low-latency matches. This typically happens implicitly by "punishing" players who have high-latency connections to the dedicated servers. Such players will then either quit playing, since their experience is so bad, or they will put up with it, and just be easy targets for the players who have good connections to the servers. In either case, the players with the good connections will end up happy. How do dedicated servers "punish" players with high-latency connections? Usually through three different mechanisms. (1) They will be killed by low-latency players before they ever have a chance to see them coming. (2) They will experience self-rubberbanding. I.e., their character's position will be adjusted by the server to match what the server has decided is "reality", and consequently, the lagging player will experience themselves being unpleasantly teleported around and/or stuck in place as if being held in place by a giant invisible rubberband. Here's a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1tipP1TuUk&feature=youtu.be) of bad self-rubberbanding, if you want to see what it is like. (3) Their weapons damage will be denied. E.g., Overwatch has a system called "Favor the Shooter" where weapons hit-detection is done client-side so that if you see yourself dealing the damage, the target will experience the damage. This feature is disabled, however, for players that have too much latency with respect to the server. This makes it much more difficult for the high-latency player to deal damage to their targets.
Basically, it is ok for Bungie if lagging cheaters and playing who strangle their conection on purpose come in and take advantage of honest players, since teh above quote will never happen in Destiny 2

              •
PvP is inconsistent.
I daresay it's very consistent. Liquid shit is a consistency. But jokes apart I agree. Sometime the headshots register when they shouldn't, sometimes it feels like the shots get fumbled by RNGesus, melee is a -blam!-ing gamble and super-popping is a warning sign to everyone switch their speedy-exotics a bail out-of-map like it's giving free gobjobs. Don't even get me started on matchmaking

              • I feel this with my shotgun...literally 3m away from guardians and they cant OHK and im using an aggressive shotgun with full choke. But fusion rifles are very consistent with their 20m+ kills. Cant stand it

              • Shotguns in a pvp setting is a power weapon. Fusions in a pvp setting is a power weapon. Snipers in a pvp setting is a power weapon. Hunters with their mobility and dodge automatically make it the best pvp class. The other two don't come close. Unbeatable roaming supers are beyond frustrating. Halo >>>>>>>>> Destiny PvP.

                • I'm finding the team to be more inconsistent. I've had more banner matches end by mercy than actually finishing to the end.

Played Iron Banner yesterday and got mercied 4 times in a row. And then I get one friend a game later and get a 15.0 KA/D. Totally balanced and fun experience.

Every activity, PvP or PvE, is ALWAYS filled with more of these problems when Iron Banner is active. Not sure why, but it’s been that way since D1. “Contacting Server” Spam, Teleporting, Unregistered Hits, OHK on non OHK actions, Enemies regenerating Health, disconnects that drain all your ammo except Primary, etc etc etc. I forgot to mention... you kill someone, they regen health, kill you, then they spontaneously die while you’re at the respawn screen 😂

                  • I was going to agree, but changed my mind. PVP is very consistent today - almost every IB match I've been is has been a slaughter. And as always, every win streak is followed by a loss streak twice as long. Very consistent with long standing D2 crucible bull crap. I have no faith that Bungie has "learned" anything like they claim, and am 100% sure that y3 crucible will suck just as bad as y1 and y2.
