"You had to be there when..."
No.
"I had so much fun with....let's go do that together so you can see why I like playing"
Yes.
The fact that you dont understand this is why I've given up.
It's like you simply dont understand fun.
Maybe I can make the point this way, what do you stand to gain from having your development team work so hard on content, and that content cannot be played throughout the life of the game. Meaning if you really really enjoy that content, you may only get to enjoy it for a short amount of time before you no longer have something to enjoy, versus putting that content out there letting it stay out there, and letting people enjoy it for years to come and just like Halo be a game that people actually skip work to play.

5 RepliesNo more crying. You play what they give you or you play a different game. Very simple. The season of crying and getting your way is over!!! Suck it up buttercup!!!

I only have 1 good Destiny story. And ive been playing since D1 beta. Im excluding finishing raids for the first time. It came from a run on Calus. We're on one of the pedestals shooting him. Hes almost dead. All of a sudden someone throws up a full titan barricade. Amazingly no one died from rocket blasts or anything and still managed to kill him. It was hilarious afterwards. Other than that, maybe laughing during Kings Fall? With the penis jumping puzzle walls? But there hasnt been what I like to call a Halo or Battlefield moment for me. Sonething ridiculous out of pure chaos. Maybe its just me. Maybe the game doesnt lend to that because of the lack of vehicles? Cant place my finger on it. Maybe its because all raid encounters are sit here do this, or you fail? It doesnt really lend to much creativity with engagement.

You had to be there when... Which when? The first, second, or third time we had to earn thorn?
-
Ah...the infamous loot cave.

They can't pile on content for ever. There are file size limitations.

34 RepliesYou had to be there when.... We had fun content Strong abilities Good weapons Good exotics Raids worth doing Less eververse A community that came together on a regular basis

1 ReplyDrunken VoG. Need I say more?

4 RepliesExactly. This is the worst direction they could have ever taken. I can't believe people actually are defending it.
"You had to be there when..." No. "I had so much fun with....let's go do that together so you can see why I like playing" Yes.
You can't build a time machine & play the game during the time periods we talk about to newer players.

Dead Hunters.... The End!

4 RepliesThis is just their new marketing technique. Creating a sense of urgency to get people playing the game. "Get it now, or you'll miss it, then come next season we'll do it again. Be there for it!" It works on a lot of people. It tends to push me in the other direction though. I'm such a rebel! 😂

1 ReplyIt’s simply a belief that Bungie know best and will create the Destiny universe how they see fit. Here’s a statement you’ll never read in any official Bungie release but summarizes the 5yrs of the franchise. “We appreciate the feedback but our vision of the game is constantly changing and always influx so asking us to fix something now is pretty much pointless when you look at the big picture”

People they are being open and honest with how they are about to throttle your exp gains again in the same game, and charge you more over time, and allow you so many ways to pay them, and yes then that content that activity is gone, it will go away like spending money to go to the theater and watch it first you don’t get to keep the movie just the experience to tell people yes I seen that, ohh and that content that goes away that “we can’t keep working on to much old content” tell me one piece of content they created that was not a set it and forget it activity that once is made its needs drastic changes at all, none they all have been here it is go play said new activity, and year they make some quality of life improvements to some things ever since destiny 1 like revisioned strikes, but to play those you had to pay for dlc, like money spent on actual development that changes, forsaken brought gambit and that got changed but only if you paid for that dlc money paid for content, now they are going to get money from you for shadowkeep eververse premium battle pass catch up mechanic pay for ranks(they got caught throttling your exp in this game) and even admitted it that is why activision dumped them, eververse tied to throttling was their intellectual property and activision as a business decision decided to part ways for their greed trying to cut activision out of money one of their games was making on the side, like the store clerk selling you something and pocketing the cash the owner losses their revenue, look up what I said they got caught throttling before and are telling you we will monitor the seasons and decide when we will let you pay us more money, I know things, that’s why they have been saying lately that activision was not some prohibitive over lord

No, Bungie prefer to use a form of psychological abuse to keep us suckers playing their game 😅
-
Good point. In reading all the news coming out I didn’t think of it this way. So as gamers growing up with this industry you always owned what you purchased and it was always there when you wanted it... now they are taking your ownership in content away to the point that you are now purchasing a finite experience.

1 ReplyIm almost positive Prison of Elders would’ve been one to go they had taken this direction since D1. I would’ve been very pissed if I missed out on POE. I had so much fun when I finally hit level 34 and faced Skolas with my two best friends. I understand the problems with the size of the game, but I feel like a Destiny 3 would be a better option than removing content. I quit for a solid 6 months last year and missed out on Black Armory and most of Season of the Drifter. I don’t touch Forges or Reckoning anymore at the moment, so I could kind of see what they’re saying, but I would’ve also missed out on weapons like the Hammerhead, Kindled Orchid, Spare Rations, Jotunn, Le Monarque, etc. Hopefully exotics won’t be tied to certain seasons and removed for a time. That would definitely put me off from this model.

10 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 8/30/2019 9:58:43 PMBungie has an idea of how they want players to act and think, and they design Destiny based on that. For example: Bungie wants us to look at other player’s weapons and say “oh wow, that’s so cool, how did you get that?”, or see another player’s emblem and ask “can you tell me the awesome tale of how you got that emblem?” If you’re the type of player who does that and asks those questions, then you are Bungie’s type. Me? Not so much. I couldn’t care less about the “epic clutch whatever” story a player has about their Gjallarhorn, and I only care about emblems for how good they look for me. I really only care about using those cool guns and running those cool activities and if i did have “cool stories” (which I do), I keep that shit to myself because who really talks about crap that happens in a video game. Really. So yeah... I get why Bungie is going the “you had to be there” route. I just think it’s dumb.

Absolutely agree. But, this is simply from my perspective. Most, if not all, of my fun and great moments throughout this games cycle have been with good friends. So, kinda like you're saying, it's been more of a "hey guys, this raid is pretty fun and drops some of the coolest gear in the game! We should check it out!". As opposed to me trying to convince even one of them to come back and play by saying "oooh! such and such item/activity is pretty nifty, but if you want it, you better hurry, hurry, hurry!" I've tried to endure this game as a solo player for over a year now. My friends are all off playing different games and they're not coming back. Period. Now I've uninstalled this game and also have no interest in coming back. I'll keep checking in on these forums to see if there's any reason to change my mind, but it sure doesn't look too promising for me.

Absolutely. It’s nothing more than an excuse for this limited time content.
-
The drones are gonna downvote you to hell because apparently paying 10 bucks for content shouldn't make you entitled to access it 3 months later.
-
Y1: wow this content is dire Y2: ok this is drip fed content Y3: lmao what content it’s gone
-
You had to be there when Bungie screwed up for the umpteenth time
-
Yeah i'm really not a fan of this FOMO stuff, think they should instead do a "first in, first out" thing, and include some of last years annual pass stuff in it (like at the end of Season of Undying the Forges go instead)

28 RepliesSo I can’t be bothered to write it all out again, but this is what I think from another similar post that was a bit more polite and thought out. I see why they want to do it and I like the idea. I humbly disagree. It’s just like the different meta’s. Think of games like WoW or diablo. Part of the charm is continuing forward and limited time events etc. Think about the vex mythoclast meta of destiny. There are so many people even now saying, “I WAS THERE”. And same with the laser tag weekend. There are things that you can say you were there for and impress people. Plus, people who leave often and don’t stick with the game are going to lose out on things. You yourself admitted that you came during forsaken. This most likely means, like most of the player base, you didn’t do all the leviathan raids, Osiris prophecy weapons, the warmind elemental things for the sparrow etc. There’s so much content that just goes to waste because it’s old. And I think that’s what they are trying to avoid. Think things like EP or blind well. They are fun activities and have great rewards. But they eventually expire and become irrelevant. Just bringing up the light is a shortcut and only negatively changes the games landscape. I have so many friends who refuse to play because, “There’s too much to do and I’ll be so behind!”. There’s so much stuff that it alienates a good majority of the community. Think about a new player coming right now. They have gambit, reckoning, dreaming city, forsaken, forges, dungeons, raids, pinnacle weapons, armor sets. Menagerie, the tribute hall, gambit prime, the secret quests, the vanilla game, Osiris, prophecy weapons, EP, blind well, and all the questlines that come with it. They get overwhelmed and give up. Somehow, someway, Destiny 2 went from having next to no content, to having TOO MUCH CONTENT. Not to mention Bungie needs more money to stay afloat and better player numbers. So by doing this, they introduce FOMO and motivate players to do these activities and earn rewards through them. This not only helps people discover the game, but also helps keep players engaged and motivated to play and do things. People like yourself will be more motivated to play the game instead of taking massive breaks in between. And finally, the problem that is most important. Space. At the end of the year, Destiny 2 will be nearing 164 gigabites. Things like Xbox and PS4 have limitations to how much space a game can take up and destiny 2 is nearing that limit. They can’t continue making this evolving world because they are right. It’s not sustainable. But through doing this, they can significantly lengthen the life span of destiny 2 before they will be forced to move onto Destiny 3.
