Letting players buy levels goes against the "You had to be there" statement you guys made.

Before I rant, I'm actually really excited about the new season pass system. I think it'll be a great way to keep me engaged in the game, not having to chase anything specific. NOW, the catchup mechanic is absolute BS. Allowing players to buy levels? I get from a monetization standpoint it's great. But it directly conflicts with the "you had to be there" mentality you guys want to have with seasons. Increasing XP gains is one thing, but if someone can buy levels they don't even need to play the game to get the rewards. It also COMPLETELY and utterly ruins the grind for others. Instead of being able to say "I leveled to 100", it'll automatically become a question of whether or not you plopped money down. On top of that, there's no real satisfaction to earning something people can just buy. There's people in the forums that complain about not having time to do things, or that they're too busy. I understand the want to cater to these people, but they should be some of the last people to cater to when you're trying to make Destiny more of an mmo experience. Things shouldn't be that easy to get, people play Destiny to EARN items. Not to be handed items. Whenever someone is complaining about not having time to do things you need to understand that, that person doesn't care about the rest of the community or the people that worked to get their stuff. You need to acknowledge people that work to get their stuff and not devalue their experience. One very simple compromise I can come up with is a cap on how many levels can be bought. Preferably 5-10 levels. That way people that grind to 100 won't get their entire grind devalued by someone with extra money floating around, and people that do buy levels are actually just buying them to catch up.

 • "You had to be there" refers to the activites, not the loot. Loot will be obtainable elsewhere once the season ends.
