I know I'm not good at PVP - I'm especially bad when I am forced to play with a specific weapon or ability class. It's not fun running around with a hand cannon trying to work on an individual reward while the rest of my team (and opponents) are running with optimal gear/weapon/ability loadouts working on team goals. It drags down my team and everyone's overall experience.
Pinnacle weapons are a great reward for people who want to run specific content; I'm fine with not getting something like The Recluse because that is and should be a reward for players who love playing, and being good at, PVP. Exotics, at a minimum, should have quest steps that offer an either/or option for equivalent PVP/PVE content.
Thanks for listening - back to IB queue with my void hand cannon....
EDIT: Appreciate all the (mostly) thoughtful comments and helpful suggestions for completing the Thorn and TLW quests. What was really driving me nuts was watching the TLW quest progress decrease while the Thorn increased or stood still. Look, I like PVP, so I figured instead of focusing on Thorn and the HC/Void loadout, I'd try to finish TLW and just play to win. When I decided to do that, my four most recent Iron Banner matches yielded the following efficiency/guardians defeated numbers:
1.33 - 12
1.10 - 11
4.60 - 23
2.57 - 18
And, I finished the quest. Now back to the void/HC loadout, but at least I don't have to see progress decrease in any questlines....

4 RepliesI will not knock the fact of having to do PvP for Thorn, I will knock the ridiculously high amount of points required for something hampered by all HC problems on Console Then again, people complained about losing pts for dying, and that is what happened. Why even go for a handcannon if you can't use them? There's the precision easy frames for you, Ikelos HC is void You even have the advantage of IB, where it is the easiest
