5 RepliesBest mario game of all time change my mind

I like it. Not as good as Sunshine, or Odyssey but better than 64. Mario feels a little clunky in it, which holds it back a bunch.

That’s a hefty dose of childhood right there..right in my heart.

2 RepliesEdited by Ghostmime: 8/26/2019 11:03:10 AMIt's good, not great. It has a lot of strengths, but also flaws that are too significant to ignore, like all Mario games. In the case of Mario Galaxy those flaws come in the form of: 1. God awful controls. 2. Extremely small levels. The main issue with the controls is that the game launched on Wii. The Wii controllers are painfully bad. There was a console-wide issue where players were forced to use motion controls in every single game, and that's an approach I will never be okay with. But on top of that, Mario Galaxy also utilised the nunchuk, perhaps the most wooden feeling controller in gaming history, which is literally painful to use. So while most Mario games at the very least feel great to play... Galaxy fell flat on its face straight out the gate. But I also don't think Galaxy is as good as people say even aside from that issue. Mario enemy design and level design is always top level, but Galaxy is not the strongest game in the franchise for either aspect, and its levels always feel as though they've ended before they went anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I like Galaxy as a game. But I also hate its controls, which is the biggest part of getting a game good. If I was to replay every game in the Super Mario franchise, I would look forward to Galaxy the least. On a side note, I think Galaxy is the only game in the Mario platformers that actually has a story, and it's an alright one, so points for that! Edit: I suddenly realise Sunshine also had a story, but the less said about that the better lol.
