Gambit vs Gambit Prime decision and upcoming poll
Dear Bungie team,
I have read about your plans to stop supporting either one of the Gambit modes.
I like Gambit a lot and having played a lot both modi, even acquired 1.8 level 3 prime armor sets I believe I know all the grind involved - particular with Reckoning - quite well.
I have so many ideas and opinions about but I'm no native speaker. Fortunately I tripped over a very good article which basically summarizes everything which I believe/think as well. And far better than ever I would be able to express myself.

In a nutshell - if at all, please please please continue with basic Gambit and not Gambit Prime.
Better - construct a mix which brings the best of both modes into one mode (special armor sets, 2-3 rounds instead of only one).
My biggest - personal - concern is that Gambit Prime is far too much dependent on the Invasion mechanism. And hence its imho heavily torn to PvP mechanics. Maybe that's your intention. Personally I don't like it. A single proficient PvP Lord can effectively destroy the best PvE team out there cause with killing constantly the enemy team you can prevent all progress/success of the other team.
In my opinion standard Gambit is far better balanced than the new Prime.
I got a few of my best weapons via Prime and Reckoning so that's a point I wouldn't like to miss.
However as it is like it is, my personal preference would always be Gambit, no Prime.
Please reconsider your decision and either keep both modes OR do some significant changes in order to satisfy both supporting parties' preferences.

1 ReplyGambit prime is the comp version of regular Gambit. If you have a team of 4 with everyone a role, you beat every team of randoms. In regular Gambit, you still have a chance as a team of randoms. If Gambit Prime is the only Gambit to stay, I'm never going to touch it again.

Gambit prime and reckoning are absolute trash panda. They can cut the drifter and gambit out of game completely

Gambit was meant to be a balance between pve and pvp gambit prime moves that balance closer in favor of pvp to make it more competitive for this reason alone if one has to go it should be Gambit prime!

But Larry has, already decided he likes Gambit Prime more. And Larry really wants to give us the game that Bungie wants us to play. I haven't even played gambit prime, haven't even spawned in.

Gambit (normal) tries WAAAAAAAY too hard to FORCE a 3rd round

Keep Classic Remove OT 3rd Round (Cheese gots to go!) Increase motes needed to bank, say, 150 per Prime Evil Reduce Captains being Super Sayans Reduce Taken abilities spam, need a stronger cool down Let invaders have a 20 second timer and each kill gives them 3-5 second increases. Likewise, killing the invader locks their portal down. Requiring more motes just to unlock and summon Taken to the other side

They will keep prime and ditch classic. I prefer classic. I've played so much Gambit that I dont care what they do though. I wish they'd rework it to stop the invasion spam in prime if they keep it.

Personally invaders really don't have that much of an affect in prime. You pretty much know exactly when people are going to invade and have a pretty good idea of exactly where they are when they do. Couldn't tell you how many matches i've won by a landslide without my team invading at all. You can absolutely nuke the boss if you are setup for DPS. So to me the PvE aspect greatly outweighs the PvP aspect if you are running a proper PvE loadout.

8 RepliesDisagree. If you have a good team, Gambit is more fun. But if you’re solo against that team it is unbearable. If you are solo, Gambit Prime is more fun. But if you’re up against a good team you cams still compete. If you can’t it’s at least over quickly. In both, cases invasion is too frequent and too influential. Basically making both games into pvp game modes with a thin veil of pve. Prime however reduces the ability of a single pvp player to control the match.

1 ReplyIf they keep prime, they need to ditch the gambit armor and reckoning. It would be nearly impossible for a new player to make ANY progress against stacked teams with fully built armor sets. My vote is to ditch prime and keep regular mode as it is more fair to players at all levels of skill.

Deej said that Gambit and Prime would be available through year 3. Bungie aren't removing one anytime soon.

if they were to keep gp then ppl would have to reaquire that armor again. dont think they wanna go through all that but maybe they do.

1 ReplyYeah I'm in the regular boat too. Anyone wanting faster matches are only in it for the gear, not the experience. I'm having a lot of fun in Gambit and I know that when I press play I'm in for a long and wild ride.

I like aspects of both. Gambit: I enjoy the rounds, and the tiebreaker round was a big improvement. The boss battles are a bit boring, though. Prime: I enjoy the roaming primevals. And while regular gambit isn’t terribly long, it can get too long on occasion. Shorter matches ain’t a bad thing. I like the armor with the mods. Would love to keep that kind of thing going forward regardless of mode. Reckoning - some large issues to be addressed here but I do like the overall event as an end game activity. If I to choose as-is, I’d rather play prime. But if they can somehow blend the two together, I’d be one happy guardian.

Regular Gambit is better. Rounds are making game more involving while Gambit Prime is just about make it faster. In regular Gambit you feel your opponents. Gambit Prime is just pve with timer.

I mean, they put prime blockers in regular already. Having armor charges things up a bit, even if it’s mainly one set being used. It’s usually 50/50 with wins, but I’ve noticed lately that most of my gambit games are 3 rounders. Prime is what gambit’s been leading to, so it would make sense in a “constantly evolving world” Flip a coin, roll a dice, spin a spinner

Prime because it’s faster which makes me actually play well so I can get it over with faster. In normal gambit I try only when I win the first round so it can end on the second.
