It's not Gambit that sucks, it's the players!

Nobody reacts to the situation appropriately, they can't kill wizards, they get slaughtered every invasion, and sometimes they don't even know to get the well buff during the boss phase. It's unreal!

      • The amount of times I see people charge the boss in prime with their supers is unreal. Atleast the golden gunners stay in the well

      • its not very well explained to players, and its not obvious to new players if no one tells them. I prefered normal to prime as its more fun for me. If Gambit Prime is the equivalent of school gym class, there is not a lot you can learn with your face in some-ones arm pit for 1hr.

It's unreal![/quote] Solstice armor doesn’t help, I’ve been stuck with half my team Afking the entire match. The community is just toxic and greedy anymore. Jokes on them though, it makes them look like garbage at the ending stats when they die every invasion and get no kills whatsoever.

          • It’s not the the player that suck, it’s the quests , triumphs and bounties that we are doing forcing us not to use optimal setups. Atm I don’t care for anything but getting 50 HVT marked for reckoner title.

          • Gambit mechanics suck. If my team spawns our primeval first, we should not be bombarded by blocker and invasion spam from the other team. The catch-up mechanics are bullshit.

            • I really love the idea of Gambit. Competitive PvE, great.. then there's invasions. Also not a problem. It's just the frequency of invasions, abundancy of heavy ammo and stacking advantages invaders have.

              • I swear every match nobody kills the blockers. They just run around collecting notes and then panic when there’s 4 blockers at the bank

              • I personally still feel like Invasions are too heavily weighted in Gambit. 99% of the time the team with the better Invader wins, regardless of the ability of the other teammates

                As someone who’s apparently in the top 1000 for Gambit this season according to Destiny Tracker (although I was right on the edge on last check and away from home for a whole week right now so probably dropped below top 1000), agreed. The lack of situational awareness in most players is astonishing.

                • Heavy ammo does need to be toned down a bit. It's way too easy to just go over and kill 2+ people with a Machine Gun, Truth, and 1k Voices.

                • I just played a few rounds of regular and prime. The invasions happened way more frequently in regular. Like every 10 seconds. No seriously. 10 video game seconds is an eternity when you have to wait. I am going to count next time. I don't get it, but we were invaded every 10 seconds.

                  Hopefully the devs will sticky a thread containing an advanced guide for gambit + prime where players can give tips for each. People have already given plenty of advice here but one think I'd like to emphasize is to [u]please avoid killing the last envoy in prime if there is an invader present[/u], mainly/especially after the 1st damage phase. I'm no rocket scientist but basic common sense quickly made it very clear why this was/is a terrible idea. Not only does the well attract an invader's attention due to it being all flashy and such, it's usually in a very exposed position, and requires all of us on the team to group up to begin dpsing the primeval, even if only briefly. That leaves Mr. Truth or Jotunn spammer plenty of time to casually nuke us to oblivion with one or two shots. So the end result is usually that not only does the primeval get health back, but we also miss out on an opportunity to damage it. It's a choice that is entirely detrimental to the team and it is alarming how to see how many low-iq individuals don't seem to have picked up on how bad of decision it is.

                  • Plz if people would just simply realize that you can bank 6,11 or even 14 motes the game would be better. But no they have to drop 40 motes and then bail on the match. 100% correct it’s the players not the game.

                    • "You have enough to summon a Primeval. Get those motes to the bank!" The other day, I kid you not, we have 74 motes. I watched some douchenozzle with four motes walk up to the bank, TURN AROUND, and try to get one more mote. Of course, he died. And the three of us at the bank who were ready to fight now had to go get another mote. Wasted 30 seconds and then had to defeat another round of blockers. Unreal. PAY ATTENTION, PEOPLE.

                      • As someone who has decided to get Reckoner, I enjoy these people being on my team 80% of the time. I get more HVTs to kill, more Half-Banked medals and small blockers, and more instances to invade. But getting Locksmith medals is the bane of my existence because every crappy player seems to be rocking Jotunn, and god forbid there be a blocker at the bank without me camping it like a [b]useless POS[/b] (which other sentries seem to do), because my team will just utterly decimate them without second thought, yet they will completely ignore every other aspect of the game. [i]Invaders?[/i] Let 'em kill me. [i]Motes?[/i] What are those? It's like shooting anything besides blockers is a foreign concept to them.

                      • Yeah, I think you're right. Gambit is a great game mode for those that enjoy the combined PvE/PvP aspects and can understand the very basic mechanics but, yeah, it takes players that pay attention.

                          Gambit, to me is one of those things that "sounds good on paper" but craps the bed in execution. When they first showed it off in a curated environment it looked very competitive and fun. Then when you bring it out in the wild with all the cheesey ass weapons and ammo work arounds... Oh boy.

                          • There's 2 problems with gambit. 1) bungie pushes players who don't like gambit or don't want to play gambit into it with quests. This causes lots of people who aren't potatoes to screw around, ignore objectives, and just generally play badly because they just don't want to be there. 2) good players can't offset bad players. In most strikes if you're a good player you can get through the strike solo or with one other good blueberry. In 6 v 6 crucible even if your team is bad you can go on a streak. In some modes if you play well enough you can even clutch it. In gambit no matter how good you play if your team is terrible you're screwed.

                              Only time I play pvp is when a quest forces me to and if I can afk it I will. Both gambit classic and gambit prime take around the same time to complete the only difference is gambit prime has way more pvp due to invasions feeling like they are more frequent... I've been forced to play gambit for this solstice armour I'm still on the blue set for my main not doing alts as thats how much I like gambit cannot face more than 1 match a day.
