FAN LORE: Guardeon, Lightmade - The Vex "Guardian" Proxy

The Vex Proxy affectionately nicknamed "Guardeon" by the fireteam responsible for discovering it, is a Vex Mind intended to model some aspects of Guardians, including their more "human" personalities and their combat tactics. Frame: The Guardeon frame is notably more slender than a standard Goblin, and around the same height. The head has one central eye and two secondary eyes in the upper left and right corners of the central eye, and these eyes will change color depending on Guardeon's "mood". Guardeon is constructed to have smoother movement and more flexibility compared to standard Vex frames, allowing it to sprint and even slide. Small boosters on the legs give it a "double jump" not unlike that of a Hunter, and it's rariolarian core is protected by a set of hinged armor plates for added protection. Interestingly, when Guardeon's head is destroyed the frame will collapse as if it has "died" even if the radiolarian core is still intact. Researchers theorize this is because Guardians usually cant survive having their heads blown off. Guardeon's hands are retooled from the standard Vex model, featuring shorter fingers and a greater range of motion, allowing Guardeon to hold basically any human-made firearm. Guardeon seems to be a Mind capable of inhabiting multiple customized frames, but it only actively uses one at any given time. Whenever a Guardeon frame is destroyed, a new one will teleport to the closest safe area within 30 seconds. This is believed to be the Vex's way of replicating a "Ghost revival". Mind: Guardeon itself has a specially programmed intelligence designed to replicate a "human" personality, or the Vex's best approximation of one. Guardeon has been observed performing the following atypical actions: -Treating every Vex frame as an individual, even when multiple frames are being controlled by the same mind -Using human language instead of Vex data-transfers to communicate, even with other Vex who usually cant or wont understand -Imitating the demeanor of Guardians it observes, right down to personality quirks and body language -Actively searching for human-made weapons and ammo pickups to refill them. It seems to dislike Vex weaponry, possibly for ergonomic reasons Guardeon has demonstrated the ability to rapidly learn through observation, gaining the ability to speak fluidly to Guardians after only a short conversation. Despite this aptitude for learning, Guardeon seems to be fundamentally flawed in some ways. Guardeon is the only Vex observed to act "fearful" in certain situations, and this reaction usually hinders it's combat effectiveness. Guardeon also doesnt always get along with other Vex minds, who struggle to comprehend its motives and personality. Perhaps the Vex did too good a job in replicating our humanity. Guardeon has developed an almost neutral view towards Guardians, often not attacking them unless fired upon first. Even when prompted by other Minds Guardeon will sometimes refuse to attack. Because Guardeon is it's own Mind, other Minds are not able to directly control it, and are thus forced to use other means of making Guardeon cooperate. These usually amount to "blackmail" or threats of destruction, though the latter seems to be more effective. It should be noted that all of our information on how Guardeon interacts with other Minds comes directly from Guardeon itself. We are still unable to understand exactly how other Vex units communicate. Mission Log 1 //NOTE: "initial discovery of Guardeon frame"- _Frame discovered on Venus during a salvage mission in the Ishtar Collective. The fireteam of 3 decided to attempt contact with Guardeon once they observed it exhibiting atypical Vex behavior. =Hunter1: "Guys, does this Goblin look any different to you? My Ghost isnt displaying a name for it." _Frame eyes the trio of Guardians quizzically, seemingly unfazed by the destroyed Vex units surrounding it. Frame appears to be unarmed. Even a Hobgoblin slam-grenade launcher does not appear to be present. The Guardians quickly realize they are dealing with a new Vex unit, and immediately begin recording. _Titan holsters his weapon and approaches the Vex Frame, who hesitates for a moment before imitating the Guardian's movements perfectly. Further experimentation reveals the Frame seems to copy the movements of the Guardian it is currently looking at, right down to subtle body language. The second Hunter begins growing visibly anxious as the Frame starts imitating her. =Hunter2: "Guys... it's mirroring us. It's learning, and fast. Be careful what you teach it." =Hunter1: "Um... Hello? Can you uh... can you speak?" _Frame turns to the first Hunter and tilts it's head curiously. A crackling noise can be heard before it starts attempting vocalizations, soon managing a few garbled words. =Frame: "G...Guardians. N-non comba- combative. Interesssssting." =Hunter2: "Wow, it sounds like if Ghosts could get drunk." =Titan: "Hey, it's trying. I'd prefer to listen to this rather than Vex chatter and blasterfire." _Frame turns to the Titan and copies his stature, it's eye color changing from white to red. Frame begins speaking much more fluidly now, even using emphasis and tone much like a human. =Frame: "Ah, i see. This is a much more efficient means of auditory communication once you get the hang of it." _Hunter 2 panics and raises her gun, offput by how quickly the Frame seems to be learning. =Hunter2: "OKAY THATS ENOUGH! We gotta kill this thing before it gets too smart!" =Hunter1: "Its a Vex, its already smarter than us. Just calm down, this is the first time one has tried to talk with us directly. Know what? I think we should name it. I'll call you... Guardeon!" _Guardeon hesitates for a moment before nodding, placing its hands on its hips like Hunter1. =Guardeon: "Hmm... yes... I like it. I am Guardeon, Lightmade. Vex Mind and Guardian Proxy. It's a pleasure meeting you."
