I use the melee recharge finisher all the time on my warlock. I can have powered melee basically whenever I want, and paired with sunbracers, I have virtually unlimited opportunities to spam grenades. Which is alot like the Destiny 1 warlock solar warlock super; available whenever I want. 100% worth the super energy required, and definitely broken without it

Edited by Kemaleon: 8/23/2019 6:03:09 AMI can see those clutch moments in raids and nightfalls: you've been hit hard, your health is low but if you can make it behind that big rock you'll be ok and you'll escape the barrage of fire behind you. The rock will save you, your new best friend. But theres a Dreg in your way, a single solitary nearly-dead Dreg. You haven't had time to reload your weapons from all the fighting, but a single punch will do it. Its chaos, explosions are happening all around you and bullet traces fill the air. Its hard to think, you go for the melee to safety and.... You go into a long, convoluted finishing animation and can only watch in third-person view as your flamboyant Guardian absorbs enough ammunition to take down the Traveller. You never knew the warm friendship of that rock, like aim-assist in Crucible you've been denied by mechanics again. Sadface.
Well, I can see that happening to me quite often at least.
I ain’t wasting super energy either , you super really counts in certain situations so why would you waste it bungie hasn’t quite thought this one out properly.
-
They will have certain finisher mods such as your super requires half a bar of your super energy but grants heavy ammo to you and your fireteam. Could be very handy in a raid encounter where you don’t need your super but can refill your whole groups heavy ammo for 50% of your super. There will obviously be other mods but the finishers are there to add variety in the way we can set up our loadouts. You could even max out your intellect to have really quick super recharge rate and try to abuse the finishers to get your current mod perk to proc over and over. I think others than were shown were a mod that gives overshields and a mod that increases all damage.

i have 0 interest in Finishers. complete waste of time.

1 ReplyDestiny trying to steal the fan base of all those fighting games since they can’t take any FPS players with their trash pvp.

Edited by WulfPak666: 8/21/2019 4:50:21 PMI mean, if the enemy has to be near death to use a finisher, why not just shoot them 1 more time? Now if your finisher was like a one and done where you could 100% a problematic enemy, then I'd more all for it. (I think they call it a super or something) Would you risk your life and waste a huge chunk of your super to 1hk a major with a flashy finisher or bullet hose them down to 10% health and be then punch em?
-
9 RepliesBecause they can provide various incentives to do so. Supers are situational and not always necessary.
-
Literally in one of the videos bungie put out you can see how much super energy it takes and it’s a sliver. Like you would get that much energy from killing three enemies
-
2 RepliesWhich is better, use you supper against one orange bar add as a clutch save, or burn have your supper energy for the same clutch save? I'll take loose have my supper energy over all of it for 200 Alex.
-
we don't know how much super is consumed. What if it's only a quarter of the bar? I could see in comp that could be handy if that's the case. Hey nuke this guy, stay alive and I didn't have to panic slam, save my super for more than one or the winning blow. Kinda like a short burst from Chaos Reach but not have it take as much as that. It's situational of course but could add some fun to the game. How often do you hold your super for the boss? In those extra minutes leading up to, you could use a Finisher move on a Major making that easier/ funner and gain the little energy used to still have your super for the main event. I'm a Hunter main and I enjoy using everything to get the job done. Throw a grenade here, knife there, dodge that, use up all loaded sniper rounds - swtich to energy weapon - reload later. Adding a "Finisher" to the arsenal to me just gives more depth to how I can wipe out the masses. My last thought; How many orbs will it create? One, Two, More, None. That could weigh heavy in the discussion. What if having masterworked armor played into that. Having no equiped MW armor = no orbs. For every two pieces = gain one orb. Have all five = gives the potential for three.

Edited by Zelrons: 8/23/2019 5:23:28 AMBecause it's a choice. I appreciate alternative ways to play. There's a different option that instead gives you super energy for using a finisher.
-
Yeah as soon as I saw that I knew I was never gonna touch finishers. They didnt even look that interesting to begin with and that killed them entirely. This is just me personally, anyone reading this if you're gonna use them then have fun.
-
10 RepliesIt’s from an artifact armour mod, so “you” need to socket it first and it’s a seasonal mod so it’s gone at the end of the season anyway.
-
2 RepliesTo look neat and/or impress friends, family, randos, neighbors, family pets, etc.

If i wanted finishers, id play mortal kombat. High chance i wont bother getting them unless theyre just flat out given to me. If i gotta unlock them or purchase them from eververse ill probably forget they exist and wont waste my time
-
From what I saw on Twitter yesterday there was some mod/perks where using a finisher move grants heavy ammo brick for the entire fireteam. Not a bad trade off for some super energy
-
lol 😂😂 like if an enemy is Low enough to get finished why not just shoot the Dude naaa the finisher animation is too cool💪
-
9 RepliesHow much we talkin?
-
I think it’s a great mechanic. Looks as though finishers will have additional perks to them and so a trade off makes sense. Plus, if you’re holding your super for say a damage phase etc then using a slight bit of energy will be fine anyway.
-
2 RepliesFinishers will only be used for the first few weeks then once that initial fun wears off no one will use them. Finishers have always been novelties. Every game I've ever played that had them they were kind of pointless. This game isn't even a melee oriented game so having to run in melee range to use them is so pointless. They just look like they will be a hassle and annoying to use. Absolutely zero reason for them to be added into this game, just like bows. Only a ridiculously tine amount of players will use them after the first few weeks. And knowing Bungie these finishers will probably have horrible hit registration and be super glitchy for a while.
-
2 RepliesGambit will suffer from the most abuse, get your super, do two finishers and 6 heavy ammo bricks, instantly. I predict that it will be disabled in the second season.
-
Then don't use your finisher?
-
Edited by olly5656: 8/20/2019 12:38:21 AMImmediately what I thought. And depending on the remaining health the enemy has the amount of your super consumed is increased... The feeling I’m getting from what we’ve been shown in Shadowkeep is that Bungie is just giving us more ways to feel the same amount of power. Arguably less
-
to get heavy.
-
I thought that at first but if you are playing a support class than maybe its worth it. Plus there are mods that allow you to get super energy back from doing a finisher so depending how much you get back maybe it will be worth it. Either way you do not have to use that part of the artifact, its one out of many perks that you can pick from.
