Is solstice of heroes fun?
In my belief it’s not fun it’s terrible and it’s nothing but a chore and it hurts my brain.

Its not fun which is why I’m not doing it, why do something thats going to be boring and meaningless as soon as the next expansion drops? The ones who are grinding this without enjoying themselves should learn to put down their controller

2 RepliesIts awful. They put together a bunch of things we asked for, but the final implementation stripped away all value. We wanted to be able to go in buildings. We wanted verticality in maps. We wanted maps free of weird invisible barriers to movement. EDZ has all of that but; We dont get to explore the building interiors, instead its a maze (a timed one) where we have to race to find and kill mini bosses. Making it a pain rather than cool. It literally the worst possible implementation of what would otherwise be a cool map. All the solstice armor (at least on warlocks) had ZERO mobility (until the Legendary Set), making the verticality a pain rather than cool. There are no weird invisible barriers, yet the height differences are too much for anything short of 8 or higher mobility to easily navigate. Then there is the grind. OMG bungie shills are actually trying to con players into thinking they WANTED MORE GRIND???? No one ever wanted more grind LOL. The solstice grind is absurd, even after revisions. I went through it on ONE character. I had about 20 minutes of fun total. And then the icing on the BS cake: the glowy bits ( without which the gear is not that kool), are ONLY available through Eververse. For REAL MONEY or a crap tom of micro transaction dust. 5000!!! Let all this sink in for a minute. The season event requires you buy shit from Eververse. Is this an experience you want to repeat? I don't and wont. Looking at this and reading the State of the Game from Luke, this is the ONLY thing i see in the horizon. The problem is systemic across the whole game. The folks in charge either don't have a clue what makes ANY video game fun, or they STILL see the players merely as a gullible cash crop to be harvested (as Activision does). And don't kid yourself free to play cannon fodder (thats what they are) are going to stick around and get there butts handed to them by the pvp veterans. Free might be an easy door into Destiny, but with zero invested, they can walk away just as easily.

10 RepliesIt was Nightmarish with no reward, oh wait, I did get a mediocre set of armor and then had to spend 15,000 BD for glows. Will not masterwork it, will not try for other characters armor. So glad I did not pre-order their next mess, they will get no more money from me.

Activity is ok, bungie seem to struggle with getting me into repeatedly playing their activities, gambit was fun at first. Loot and / or rewards suck. Grind is ok Activity eaz- 06/10 Loot - 3/10 Grind objectives 6.5/10

Ehhh. The EAZ is fairly decent. But the grind is appalling. If Shadowkeep is nothing but bland and tedious grinds for average gear, count me out.

Honestly I enjoyed the open world grind. Community ruined gambit matches tho.

I refuse to do it. When solstice started I legit got home excited to play only to nearly fall asleep my first run through. Haven't touched it since.

2 RepliesSo glad I never wasted my time chasing shitty glowy armor like a heroin junkie. I just played the game like I normally do and I had my usual fun times. If future events are gonna suck this hard, count me out of those as well. [spoiler]We got the Micro Mini, so at least there's that. That's about it though. The rest was total shit.[/spoiler]

2 Repliessolstice killed my clan no kidding. before it started we had good participation. Once we started doing it more and more decided they didn't want to log on anymore. Solstice was another miss.

I didn’t enjoy it, but let’s consider what the real problem is. The core idea is fine - get rewarded for playing most of the activities in the game. Whether you play with friends or solo, you can be successful (I play solo). On paper this sounds really good. In practice it isn’t, and that’s because it relies on players grinding material we are sick of grinding. This event is a way of crossing a content drought, nothing more. In the end, the allure of having a ready set of masterwork armor at the vendor when Shadowkeep launches isn’t enough to make me want to grind out three characters. Quite the opposite - I’ve stopped playing again because grinding out one set made ALL current D2 material unpalatable for me. And let’s be clear about something else... the second Shadowkeep drops, we will start getting the new armor whether or not we grind now. The only real benefit of doing it now is for the triumph, and if you don’t care about it (I don’t), there is no reason to put yourself through this. Some people enjoyed this event I’m sure. I’m guessing a lot didn’t for the reasons listed above. It’s not that this was a bad idea, it simply didn’t work all that well.

No point in finishing. This event was made to piss of players. Whoever made this event just don’t like their player based and want to cater to Datto and Youtube streamers.

I mean it’s not exactly like I mind the grind for the armour. It was something to do. Did I think the grind was boring? Not really since it has you do all aspects of the game minus raiding. But everyone has there own opinion.

I didn't mind the list for masterworking you're gear. I think if the previous green's and blues requirements were more like the purples then it would've been funner

Playing 10+10 gambit matches also does nothing for my sense of enjoyment. I’ve done the pinnacle grinds, I don’t need any more and I just feel I need to wash myself clean after dropping these hours into these specific grinds. At least the game worlds are relatively populated by other poor souls doing what I’m doing. I think that at least makes the heroic public events bearable.

I managed to finish my titan, only as far as legendary. Can’t even attempt to try masterwork, no point. Still on the fence for shadowkeep anyway
