As a PvE centered player, reducing heavy ammo gain, reducing super usage, and reducing super gain is not a good way to head

You want to take all these nerfs and implement them into PvP? Go for it. God knows everyone hates heavy spawning every some odd minutes and super chaining to ruin a good time. But PvE on the other hand -blam!- -blam!- -blam!- oh boy don’t even. There’s a constant power fantasy being chased. I can guarantee you mess with that, you’re going to have A LOT of weird side effects and upset people. Nerf to heavy? Guarantee Izangi/Borealis/Jötunn/Lord of W./Trench Barrel SG./etc will take the place and be more important than heavies. . Why nerf super gain? If I see a mini boss or heavy elite enemy that deserves a good god smack from my super, I shouldn’t have to worry about having that super again for the final boss. Is a super a crutch? Heck no, it’s another option to deal damage/keep alive. Is a super needed in endgame PvE things such as raids? Well yeah because Bungie likes to make enemies with Final Fantasy range health bars and make us glass cannons (without the cannon most times). Bosses shouldn’t insta-kill players (looking at you ogres) by just looking in our general direction if we have almost no way (except supers) to defend ourselves/self heal/revive/tank the damage from said boss. Make our super (plan B if you will) unavailable throughout a hellish fight and you’re left with a team that feels under leveled and under powered. . Finally, the Light Level (who calls it Power Level? Really? I don’t see a scouter anywhere) system is absolutely disturbing. See that LL (Light Level) 10 Dreg? He’s still going to kill your 1000 LL bum as fast as he did 990 LL’s ago. No, that’s not how an mmorpg works. You can scale enemies sure or buff up an area if a player gets hella strong so they GIVE more experience instead of Pokémon Lv. 1 experience of 2 points (which this game gives anyways so heck). Meanwhile vise versa you’re LL 10 and the enemy is LL 1000 and he just clapped 1 mile away and killed you from the butterfly effect. Dark Souls you go Lv. 1 throughout it even if you are weak, you still deal damage. Kingdom Hearts can be beaten on Lv. 1 because you STILL DEAL DAMAGE. Plus those games give plenty of items and options to help. This game? Here’s a gun, 2 abilities, and super. Go get em champ.

  • Im not trying to be that guy.... But what are you actually on about. Bungie never ever said these changes were solemnly due to crucible. In fact they stated that the amount of supers in pve for example spamming tethers, spamming wells, and among other things just doesn’t make the game challenging enough. Please know the facts next time before complaining about something that you literally can’t even comprehend.

First, Destiny isn't an MMORPG. It just isn't. Sure, it has some elements, but it's a shared looter-shooter. Keyword here is "shooter". The way supers and other abilities are now one barely has to use a gun for most content. Here's my example: Everyone has done the Mindbender's farm. My fireteam and I would slap Hallowfire Hearts on, continually grenade the everliving hell out of everything, and chain supers for each other through the entire thing. It's easy mode, a total yawner. We'd actually make fun of the guy that got the most precision kills on the strike summary screen. Gunplay being a joke is not good for a shooter, simple as that.

      • Unfortunately, this is a lost battle. Luke Smith thinks the fact that content creators are pubstomping and stating how “easy/boring the content is” is a reflection of the general community, as if 60% and not significantly less, are doing the same on a regular basis. With that said, I do find it curious that Bungo doesn’t release community completion statistics on raids and haven’t associated a trophy with a raid completion since Last Wish. Note: The completion percentage for Last Wish by Forsaken owner on PS4 is a whopping 3%. To sum it up, the fact that Bungo sells watching streamers doing the raid race and NOT content purchasers doing the raid with every new release, speaks volumes. Though they’ll contend that this had everything to do with power creep and them having to break their own encounter mechanic rules.

They are taking us back to Y1, so the next thing to happen is the player base will go nuts once the gameplay sucks. Don't worry Luke (the first Lead Dev with no game design experience and was a blogger) and the F uckup Crew will do their best to screw up this game. They have no idea what they want.

          • I think people are overreacting... To preface, I didn't play D1. I thought D2Y1 was balanced, but needed more content. Crucible was enjoyable for me. Everyone was so bent over about their shottys and snipers being heavies. Bungie eventually capitulated and swung the pendulum all the way to the other end and left it there. Heavy and special ammo are too abundant IN PVP. The meta has stagnated to snipers and shottys, which imo did not get rebalanced when they got released into the wild IN PVP. Supers IN PVP are too prevalent. Matches should be tight, and supers were a tool to swing a match back in your favor. Now they are handed out like candy TO THE SIDE THAT IS ALREADY WINNING. I think moving more towards the center is a good move on Bungie's part. Everyone needs to chill out and wait for Shadowkeep to come out. I think you are going to find everything is fine. I don't think these changes will hurt PVE as much as some of these posts are saying.

          • Dozens of armor perks are introduced to make very powerful PvE builds. Not to mention the perks artifacts have. Wait for Shadowkeep and then judge.

          • For bungie’s sake I hope they know what they’re doing. 2 primaries, slow super regen, and static rolls almost killed the game. The changes they’re talking about have the potential to do it again.

            • Yeah, I gave up. These nerfs are going to cement my decision to stay away. Can't wait for their 'endgame variety' to still boil down to, at max, two play styles because their bosses never blam! change. Both involving a majority of Hunters no less. Like always. That hasn't changed in a few years, better keep that the same.

            • Some folks enjoy the being powerful (I think things should indeed, get easier and easier as you progress). I also get where the other side is coming from. My solution would be to implement a nightfall-ish mode to endgame activities (with debuffs to the player), with drop chances slightly higher, that way it's not mandatory to run the mode but, does have an incentive.

            • Bungie is determined to ruin this game and take away all the things that make it fun, I bet it’s gonna be like going from D1 to D2, to many changes and holding back details till after people buy the game!!!

This is just Bungie reinventing the Destiny wheel yet again. It’s been a downward slide since after Y1, with weapon, armor and super nerfs, obsolete gear, fixed rolls, random rolls, adding currency, removing currency, new progression systems, etc... They have been making it up as they go with each new team fixing the last team’s “problems” for five years. This is just more of the same.

The reason I liked all the heavy and supers was because everything in the game is just a big old bullet sponge. It’s boring chipping away at a big boss for ages.

                        • We literally had to fight to get more supers per strike. When D2 first released no one would use supers for the entire strike until we get to the final boss. I'm afraid that if Bungie nerfs the gain again than we'll return to the launch super gaining.

                          • FYI, the changes to heavy ammo are most likely going to be centered around pvp. Separate adjustments to the heavy crates in pvp (the things that spawn on the wall) are what Bungie was talking about in the PVP Section of part 3 of the posts. The super regen was specifically tuned, if you actually read the post, to reduce the amount of super energy recieved from orbs of light as well as super mods only stacking once and a slight reduction in super energy from killing ads. This is to both reduce the ability to simply steamroll teams in pvp as well as reduce a team’s ability to stand in one spot and simply spam supers. I can get my super 10 times per Strike in PvE and have it available for every encounter if I use my current set. Super isn’t your bread and butter for DPS. Heavy weapons deal more damage. Their main use if for killing enemies quickly, killing lots of enemies or providing more staying power. A reduction to this means you have to be more choosy about the encounters you use it in and increases the value of supers that can generate more orbs. (Shadowshot, 3 Shot Marksman golden gun, Ward of Dawn, Stormtrance, and Nova Warp.)

                          • The power we have is out of control. We melt the living hell out of most bosses. Sometimes strike bosses are laughable because how quick we melt them. Outside of Forsaken strikes boss fights last less than a minute. A game like this with no challenge becomes boring. The key is when they bring everything back in line they need to add worthwhile loot to match the challenge. As it is right now though we are overpowered to the point of making everything trivial.

Wow, people have short memories, so allow me to refresh them. Both forges and Escalation protocol had to be nerfed within like a week or two of release because the enemies were too strong. Heroic strikes back in the COO days were the bane of existence when collecting paradox amplifiers. People were quitting during strikes, and these activities rewarded awful loot. My favorite was being one shotted by Brachion, genesis mind with glass and solar singe active, or thrall when blackout was instant death. Challenge has it's place, but for the manure-grade loot destiny 2 offers in strikes, raids/end-game (other then the occasional 1KV), it's the lesser of this game's problems, especially one that calls itself a looter-shooter.

                            • Serious question How are these super nerfs going to seriously affect pve? I can't remember the last time I've been killed out of a super if ever. And as far as when I think of using a super it's generally for boss dps. Roaming supers don't really provide anything other than a coolness factor, or provide anything that can't be accomplished with whatever meta loadout is available.
