Dress code next time. Please.

After watching the Armor 2.0 stream and seeing a Bungie figure dressed like they just woke up was unappealing to say the least. One of the only good things about Activi$ion was that they always had a professional and refined appearance. While it’s okay to be casual in a work place such as a game development company it is most definitely not appropriate to appear that way to the consumer. I’m not friends with the dev team and I’m not watching a Sunday night game with them either. I’m a consumer. Part of being a consumer is having a safe knowledge that the creator of my consumption cares about the product. So tell me how could the team care about the product if they don’t care to wear shoes? Please have a common decency dress code next time. Edit- no this is not about gender. No I don’t want to see formal wear. My intended point was I would’ve liked to see something above minimal effort. While I respect the work that the dev team does that appreciation does not transfer over to being happy with seeing pure disregard for respecting each other’s time. I understand that tech culture is dominated by people who don’t care about the newest fashion trend but professional presentation is still important. Had everybody on the stream been dressed casually I would’ve seen no problem. In the past the dev members have been dressed casual and that’s fine. Something above nothing is all those of us with a problem are requesting. On a side note the sexism and the idea of “being a snowflake” both have no place here. This isn’t meant to be a hate mob. This is just feedback so Bungie knows that the consumers expect to see a level of professionalism above none. Edit 2- yes. There are more pressing matters with the actual game. However the problems with the game do not override the problems with presentation. There is room for both discussions to occurs. Hopefully somebody has relayed that below causal wear is not the appropriate wear for a live appearance.

  • Bungie didn't care so why should you or anyone else for that matter? Move on to something more productive to complain about please.

  • Companies nowadays, are run significantly different than the era depicted by Mad Men. Most tech companies, which a game company is basically, are super casual environments. With the basic ideology being that ultra casual environments bolster creativity. A lot of traditional companies don't allow/encourage naps during the work day, or have game rooms, or spa setups, or many of the different things that many companies started and run by young people, do these days. Now she probably should have not worn pjs on the day of a live stream. But who knows, maybe she forgot, or perhaps was asked to fill in for someone who couldn't make it. The video/stream producer clearly didn't care. So why should any of us?

I think it’s a generation thing, class is not taught nowadays lol. I do understand where you’re coming from, and yea first impression,to me, it’s unprofessional. In the grand scheme of things is it that big of a deal? Not really. Was I surprised? Yes honestly. I come from a different background tho. So her dressed like a slob and feet up on the table to me, is unprofessional. But, the majority of kids on this forum are not going to care about that or this post. Lol I mean it is a gaming company, so it’s more casual.

    • Bungie doesn't do formal. I support any company who gives their employees the comfort to work in pajamas. If you're mad that you cant go to work in pjs, you chose the wrong career.

    • I don't like it either, but I'm old fashioned and that's the typical gamer. I feel like DiCaprio shouting at the dirty hippies in Once upon a time. I mean no way in hell I'm going to a board meeting dressed like that, or even like the other guys in that video. But I think that's pretty much on the mark for a target audience of video game grinders. Sit for long periods of time, be comfortable, maybe shower?

      • The SJW -blam!- always gets a free pass, because she will cry "harassment" in any other case. If I were dressed like that at work I would get fired. Talking of "white male entitlement". smh

        • It honestly makes sense why we don't have factions, trials, pinnacle grinds, salvage anymore... a person who literally just rolled out of bed for a global PRESENTATION is a SENIOR SANDBOX DESIGNER. What must her underlings think? I love how the men in the room actually wore pants, collared shirts, visibly groomed. Did they just tap her on the shoulder and ask her to attend for equality's sake?

        • I don’t give a shit what she was wearing, it was the fact she seemed intent on ramming down our throats to ensure it was noticed. Feet up on the table, smirking at the camera and referencing wearing pyjamas to work. Seriously... no one gives a -blam!- darling. Dial it back

I'm still confused about how what clothes someone is wearing seemingly determines exactly how smart/hardworking an individual is. Like it's some kind of magical power that uncomfortable and impractical clothes have that they make people smarter and work harder. Honestly, I find it's the opposite that is true. Comfortable clothes means it's easier to concentrate on your work and not how much your formal shoes/heels are making your feet ache or having to constantly tuck your shirt in all the time because if you reach over to pick anything up it rides up, or having to deal with summer weather while weaing thick, dark pants, a long sleeved shirt and a tie... There are times when presentation is important. Such as when you're trying to impress someone with how much effort you put into looking nice and professional (Such as an interviewer for a job). But honestly, for just working it makes little difference (In my opinion anyway). Also, I think this particular stream might have been trying to take after Warframe, whom regularly does content/update streams while wearing casual clothes (To a lot of success, they tend to get along well with players. Back when I played Warframe I didn't hear much negative feedback about them or the way they dressed, or how they put their feet on the table during streams...) - As well as possibly trying to shake the Activi$ion stigma with "Hey, look, we're no longer bound to a soulless and corrupt company. So we can be actual people and not mindless drones that need to crap out MTX filled tripe to milk your cash"

If the devs all wore a pair of shoes 👠 👞 inside a pair of big boots 👢🥾 would they be super-ultra-professional resulting in the game being flawless ! The fact that a sandbox design lead was bad at the game, didn’t know what things were called, used double fusions and had arc soul as their primary combat mechanism would be what I’d take issue with.
