I’m getting real tired of people scapegoating streamers for things they really didn’t have much or anything to do with.
Take the likely incoming well nerf for example. People love to say “datto -blam!-ed us, it’s all his fault”
Little do they realize that the bridge section of T2 and 3 reckoning was built to be so insane because Bungie knew that if they didn’t, Well would make reckoning as easy as making scrambled eggs. Bungie was designing encounters around the power of Well months and months before any steamer made any type of video about how centralizing it is in PvE. Luke using his video as a reference was probably because it was in line and well illustrated what Bungie had been thinking for quite a while. We all know Bungie takes months an months to make any adjustments to even shit a busted as LoW was on pc. That idea that Bungie decided to change a super integral to PvE because of a 13 minute video released like 2 weeks ago is laughable.

You cant design an encounter around an asset, then remove or nerf the asset (twice) and expect the same outcome.

Edited by ELRaSun: 8/15/2019 6:06:12 PMOr.... they could have just not made another encounter where you stand in one specific spot surrounded by enemies, Majors and Snipers, with a timer. A well only works if you can stand it and still complete the objectives. If you make encounters that actually require you to move around, then a Well cannot really save you. There’s NO WAY around it. Boss / Encounter design has been the problem since D1. Stand in one spot and Shoot. With a timer and a DPS check. Don’t Get close, or you get stomped to death. Rinse and repeat for 4 or 5 turns. So... rather than counter the well with Action... they played INTO using the Well even more 🤔 Imagine relying on Well of Radiance during the Siege Engine, it’d help at select moments, but you’d definitely end up failing. You can’t afford to stay still. You’re right, ppl shouldn’t be attacking Datto. They should be asking Bungie to not over-think and just listen to the players more. When we asked for features from Rise of Iron and Age of Triumph that didn’t make it into D2, that’s what we wanted lol. But they over-complicated it, and created content that the majority will never enjoy. Strike loot (but regulated it to Nightfalls only with extremely low drop rates) Artifacts (but they’re making them seasonal) Armor Ornaments and Holographic Armor (but made it Eververse exclusive) Record Books (non existent) The Grimoire in-game (got rid of the grimoire entirely and made lore tabs) Etc etc etc... none of this is streamers fault. This is a fact. Though, streamers have been a part of summits and influenced some of the changes that have made it into the game, and then needed to be walked back. This is also a fact.

While this individual case might be overblown, we are talking about a company that invited streamers to a community summit and listened to them and turned Escalation Protocol from a challenging three man activity to one that required you to game the instance to get a six to nine man group to accomplish it. We're talking about a company that installed incredibly boring grinds into the game because streamers said the game wasn't grindy enough. We're talking about a company that time and time again has decided that streamers are not only worth listening to but their experiences are representative of everyone in the player base. So yeah, at some point it was -blam!-ing inevitable that we'd get a straw that broke the camel's back moment, and it's happened with Datto.

Go home, grow a brain, and let the adults talk okay.

actually we have hardcores to blame . driving difficulty and quantity up to a standard that cant be sustained.
-
Go suck his peddlestick you asshole! People like you are killing this game. -blam!- yourself

Finally someone with a brain :]

I already knew well would get nerfed its just broken easy mode and i don't mind it that much honestly but it's one super in PVE that is too good to be true, so you all had in the back of your minds that nawing feeling it would be "adjusted" sooner or later. This is why I don't mind playing titan. I could care less what LFG wants, I always liked the titan the most even in D1 and D2 beta I was a titan. I play all the characters but Im saying if I focus down on one its gonna be my titan. I just like his armor and style and punching things.

Conspiracy theory: bungie knew they were making changes Bungie needed someone to “complain” and ask for changes Bungie rang datto and he said “sure” our business relationship works both ways datto makes a clip, bungie introduces the change.

The issue is and always will be, WHY ADD THINGS TO THE GAME AND DON'T TEST THEM???? Surely they knew when adding things in what problems come from it?? If not then go back and test that shit.

I agree blaming Datto for a Well nerf makes lil’ sense. It’s obvious that Bungo threw him to the wolves to keep some of the heat off themselves. That said, the perceived idea (real or otherwise) that content creators’ opinions are over-indexed regarding the direction Bungo takes isn’t just coming from the community’s end. All in all, when people from Bungo act like a streamer sport –blam–ing an instance is a reflection of the general audience’s interaction with the content, when we know MOST don’t even interact with it at all, then this is the natural conclusion.
-
But what everybody is missing, along with you, is that Bungie knew this was a problem, and still allowed both the encounters and the subclass/armor combos to be installed. Basically, they knew this was an issue, stayed the course, wasting time, money and resources on instances they knew wouldn’t stand the course of time specifically bc of the Well. Not very inspiring is it? Whether the conspiracy theory is legit or not is debatable. And frankly I don’t really care. But, we absolutely know the D2 director directly referenced the streamer. Neither did the other any favors.

Exactly, this forum loves to blame streamers for everything for genuinely no reason
-
This site has been a literal circle jerk of "-blam!- bungie" or "-blam!- x popular content creator" for several months now. You come here for laughs. Not to have actual debates with people who've got the ability to critically think.

Edited by Disciple4Christ4: 8/15/2019 9:08:21 PMBut that mean I'm wrong!! NO!! I AM ALWAYS RIGHT AND ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS A STREAMER LACKEY!! ALL OF THIS IS NINJA'S FAULT!!!

Whoa whoa but if I can't blame streamers and I can't blame Bungie then who do I blame for all the anger and pain I have in my life? Myself?!

making scrambled eggs to me is hard tbh

It's mainly just kids who haven't developed a sense of logic yet (it is the summer holidays in most of the player base countries) I suggest to either ignore the cry babies, or call them a waaaambulance and move on 👍

Tired of people ruining the end-game experience because they cant think for themselves. Well needs a nerf. No debate.

Have minded people are the majority of people. It’s why some people are natural born leaders. They are good and harnessing the masses. The internet just makes everyone’s comments seen and heard regardless of charisma.

Imagine insulting people to make a point. Just as bad as people who use the clown emoji
-
People were using Well with Lunafaction boots way before Reckoning came out. Bungie should have known it would be heavily utilized. Much like Gjallarhorn was used with Wolfpack rounds in D1. People will always use the strongest thing, because its the logical way to beat an encounter. Logic will always win in the end.

The problem is bungie can't make encounters too difficult to the point of being impossible without well, but they can't make it any easier because the boss will be one phased with toothpicks. I garantee that at least one person that thinks it's bungie's fault for the way the encounters are made doesn't know that, doing a boss legit, there are a ton of things damaging you during the dps phase. Calus moves you around with his attacks, argos is sending explosive harpies, sos boss is pumping out rockets. Riven is breathing fire, insurrection is spawning vandal snipers that SHOULD kill you in 2 shots without well and Ghalran spawns around 8 thrall every few seconds. These threats should be keeping a player on their feet and stopping them from standing still and spamming grenades. Well bypasses all of that.
