Gambit or Gambit Prime: Discussion Time?

I haven't seen a post about this yet and think it's time for some kind of discussion to begin. Please, down below, sound off about your preferred mode and why you prefer it. Luke Smith gave us a novel's worth of honest feedback so I think it would be nice of us to take his request seriously and provide our thoughts in a respectful way. === TL;DR: Gambit has too many feelsbad moments and not enough feelsgood moments. I believe making the invader job MUCH harder so that getting even 1 kill feels good/is a win for the team is key to making Gambit feel less frustrating to play. As an invader currently, I feel bad if I don't get all 4 because getting all 4 is pretty easy. This would also mitigate the need to nerf heavy weapons. Give wallhacks to the defenders instead of the invader (see rest of post for how I would change the wallhacks). === I haven't played much Gambit Prime so I can't talk about it a whole lot, but I do have some ideas on how to improve both modes that I believe come from a somewhat unique perspective (nerfing the invader, empowering the defenders). - Greatly improve mote pickup radius, perhaps if someone gets 5 rapid kills they get a short suction buff that pulls motes toward them - Invading should be HARD. Like, I fully believe that the tables are turned in the complete opposite direction right now for invaders. Instead of them getting wallhacks, I believe the defending team should get some kind of blinking wallhack that shows their location 5 seconds in the past. To further the philosophy Luke spoke about regarding how good it feels to overcome a difficult challenge... Right now, for me... Getting even 3 kills as an invader feels bad because getting 4 really isn't that difficult, which means getting none or one feels REAL bad. If invading were harder, getting even just a single kill would feel much better. This would also prevent invading from being too impactful on the game and would make frequent invasions feel less oppressing. Instead of nerfing heavy weapons in Gambit... Just make invading harder. Give the defending team more information. - Find a way to make dying with motes feel less bad. All it takes is one player to screw up with a lot of motes and the game is thrown waaay down the deep end and it ends up feeling hopeless. It feels bad for that player and the rest of the team. - When a player dies with their motes... Make the motes stick around for longer so a bit of communication with teammates could perhaps save them. - If an invader kills a defender, and another defender avenges their fallen comrade within 3 seconds or something, give them a nice sprint speed buff so they can collect their teammates motes quicker.

I prefer both, but if i had to choose one, i would say 'normal gambit'. People who bought forsaken and did not bother getting the annual pass will not be able to access Gambit Prime. It will cause issues (and uproar) i fear :/ .

  • Keep both. One is a form of quickplay and the other is a form of comp. No reason to get rid of any of them. People still wanna be able to choose their game mode in Crucible, so why get rid of this option? Keep Both. Good post btw. Thank you.
