Does the drifter identify with any class?
I was wondering if the drifter is a warlock, I never really thought about it much but I’m really curious now. If he doesn’t identify with any class can he still use any subclass? Solar, void, or arc?

The Drifter has no Class. All Risen can use Solar, Arc or Void and used their abilities in many ways before the idea of Classes existed. Classes and Subclasses are constructs of the Guardians of the City that help Guardians divide themselves into organized and likeminded groups and whatnot.

I love these types of topics. Even if there is a clear cut answer, I love reading everyone's comments. Gives me so much more insight into the Destiny world and peoples understandings of it.

I was under the impression that he WAS a Warlock, but I can't remember why I believe that. Don't know if it was lore, rumor, etc.

1 ReplyI like to think he is his own Class: Drifter. Actually, how cool would it be to have a Class called Drifter? It’d be like a “Jack of all trades” among the Classes.

Drifter is from a time where light beaters didn’t specify by what class they are. As far as he (and pretty much anyone) he is just a light bearer. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t subscribe to certain stereotypes. Shin malphur had stated in the Drifters Gambit lore book “that he had been playing Warlock, which he isn’t”. He has the properties of a hunter, often living away from others and in the wild. But had the mindset of a Titan when it comes to forcing something out of someone, say forcing enemies to play his gambit. He’s just weird.

He has no class, he is a light bearer. He keeps his ghost hidden. In lore a man with no name, home part 4, the village where he is living is destroyed by fighting war lords. The drifter is known as Germaine, he survives as his ghost revives him. He tries to save a youth called Judson by laying his hand on his wound using solar power. He can also run very fast and is very strong. Read the lore a man with no name; it tells you a lot about the Drifter.

Like most Risen, Warlords, and Iron Lords. Drifter doesn't have a class. Given his age and experience, I wouldn't be surprised if he could do more than most Guardians. Personally I like to imagine he could summon a scythe-like weapon with a Taken effect on it...and it saps the life and energy of other things. He's always going on about eating and how things taste.

3 RepliesHe is supposed to be one of the first of the risen so he would be without a true class. Kinda like Most of the Warlord era characters.

He’s a Lightbearer. Not a Guardian. Guardians subscribe to certain classes and subclasses. Lightbearer’s use the Light in any way, shape or form for their advantage.

He’s non-class specific or rather class neutral.

<I think subclasses are just ways to focus your Light that take common forms. After all, Golden Guns weren't a thing until Shin killed Yor.>
