If we can stand in one spot and not get punished by the boss in any way, shape, or form, then maybe amp up the boss or arena threat. You guys just admitted that the design flaws are your fault.

That's the problem. With a well we can outheal anything but a wipe mechanic. So in order for there to be any degree of difficulty bosses and ads have to be able to instant kill us, or there has to be strict and moving mechanics that outpace the well. The downside of this is you reach a point where in order to keep well from being op you tune the game so high up that it becomes near impossible without a well which limits creative ways to plan team composition.
in order to keep well from being op you tune the game so high up that it becomes near impossible without a well
Not necessary at all. I don't know what to do with current bosses, but for future ones there are ways to keep players from standing in one place. Make the boss move behind a cover so that you also have to move to keep shooting it. Or make it telegraph an AOE attack that instakills you if you don't go out of that area (similar to the Cabal Excavation PE).

Remember back in Wrath of the Machine? The Archpriest specifically. He could one shot the bubble if you let him but still dealt fair damage to the players. You dont have to amp the boss or mob damage but have a nullifying factor. Stall healing, power, super suppression, etc. These things can work independently without compromising gameplay integrity. It just needs to be applied correctly. Kinda like Skolas when he taints your light but doesnt kill, something on that level.
