Is the speaker really dead?
Did we ever get confirmation that the speaker is dead? He fell, broke his mask and the screen went black, does he come back in Shadowkeep?

He’s dead, there is/was a scannable near his room in the new tower that states he’s dead.

He passed during the time when the traveller was still contained, with his ghost either captured or killed the likely hood of him coming back during that time or after seems slim to none. It’s fair to say, he’s dead.

2 RepliesI’d assume so. He had to have been starved and wounded from Ghaul’s torture only to get dropped face first into the floor with enough force to shatter his mask without having any light. His odds of surviving the initial impact were low, but the odds of escaping the Red Legion ship under the conditions listed above and getting away from the tower without any guardian assistance are next to nothing.
