As someone who's played BDO... I'm not going anywhere NEAR that game again so long as they continue to have literally THE worst gear upgrade system ever devised in any video game in existence. Like, people complain about Solstice grind, but that's NOTHING compared to BDO. Where you grind out ridiculously low drop rate materials to try and upgrade your ridiculously low drop rate gear and have to go through like 5 different layers of RNG just to ATTEMPT to upgrade your gear and if you fail? Well, best case, you get set back like 2-3 equipment levels and worst case is your accessory is DESTROYED. Utter garbage system, which makes people prefer to simply AFK fish to earn money to just buy gear instead of trying to go through the horrible RNG upgrade system (Which, as it happens, becomes MUCH less tedious if you buy microtransactions!) Which is a shame, because the game has some really good stuff in it. Combat is fluid and fun. Horses feel real as they're persistent (You don't just whistle and poof a horse out of thin air, your horse will stay where you dismounted it unless you ask a stable to go fetch it for you). There's a trading activity where you can actually buy stuff cheap and go to another town and sell it for profit, including the ability to buy and upgrade a wagon to carry more stuff... But my gosh, that gear system is just horrible. I quit after I lost about 60 hours of grinding on an 80% success chance roll that failed.
