FPS good in every other game, tried all recommended settings, screenshot at 1080p and lowest graphics settings.

Hi i have the exact same issues my frames drop to 40fps in some areas and then in other areas i get 100+ fps My setup is gtx 1060 evga amd fx-8350 ddr 3 16gb ram Gigabyte 970 gaming mobo 550W PSU If some one finds a fix to this it would be amazing

9 RepliesGame is poorly optimized at the moment sadly. Lots of people with higher end rigs are having similar issues as you. There's nothing you can do but wait until bungie addresses the issue.

3 RepliesEdited by Gridzzz: 8/16/2019 8:12:13 AMLooks like you cpu might be bottlenecking you.

have you check your frame rate settings to see what is causing the problem

Edited by Jared: 8/11/2019 6:42:04 AMAny chance you could screenshot your settings? Particularly the top half of the video settings. your gpu usage sitting at 20% indicates that something is limiting the gpu artificially. Initially, the only thing I can think of is vsync. There could also be an issue in you nvidia control panel/ Geforce experience settings that might be causing it. Additionally, if your monitor is 75 hz, the game not windowing properly would explain the 38 fps you are getting, because tabbing out of the game will cause it to run at half of your refresh rate, so in that case I would consider trying to use different windowing options.

I got this game running smoothly on a laptop from 2014, CPU is not the issue, its poor optimization IMO. Try disabling your turboboost and set your multiplier below the maximum turbo clock (I believe the 1700 is 3.7 ghz turbo?), so maybe set it to 35. This solved most of my drop issues. I used Throttlestop. If you continue to get drops, enable Vsync in the app and open up Nvidia control panel and enable triple buffering for Destiny 2. Good luck.

Can you post you ingame settings? The big things to turn off are HDR, Screen Space Ambiant Occculsion, motion blur (coz lol) and make sure your render resolution is set to 100% also try toggling to fullscreen instead of borderless window. If you have a 144hertz or higher monitor the last resort and worth a try is to change that to 60hertz at the desktop level just as a test as this strangely can effect ingame performance sometimes I've noticed a few games have issues.

Youtube the Cpu see what other's using in there timings in there overclock and then look up Nvida tweeks on the app on youtube Best Regards

I'd say you're CPU bottlenecked, lower all your settings, go do some public events, you'll still have frame drops I bet....

Edited by Soldierofpie: 8/11/2019 11:57:29 AMIts unlikely, but it's possible it's because your hard drive with the game installed has less than 20% space left. Little things like that can effect performance. Delete about 130gb of crap and see if you see improvement.

I wish I could help more but if worse comes to worse, a reinstall of Windows might clear this up. The Destiny 2 folder can be moved to a different drive to avoid having to download it again.

4 RepliesEdited by pop_kid24: 8/11/2019 4:17:27 AMi recommend going around and seeing whats killing your cpu, you might have too many background programs running or it could be an antivirus, i'd also recommend turning down depth of field to high, should save you a dozen or so frames. when i play on 4k aiming will make the fps drop to below 40 with depth of field on highest, on high it hovers at over 60. my gpu overclock is 1100 memory and 220 core. my build is a rtx 2080 (non ti), i7 8700(non k), 24gb of ram, 1 tb hdd, 1tb sdd, and a 500gb pro ssd, and i have no clue what my motherboard is, it starts with a Z thats all i can remember.

11 RepliesDestiny is a CPU heavy game. I have an i7 9700 which is one of Intels top CPUs, and it's almost always in the high 90% utilization when playing D2. If I had to guess, your CPU is a bottleneck. You can use something like NZXT CAM to get a good idea of what is going on. If your CPU is at 100% and your GPU is at 50%, there is your problem. Might want to see if CAM is Bungie approved, I think it is, they said they dont ban for monitoring software, but I don't want to be responsible for anyone's ban.

1 ReplyHave you used Nvdia Experience to optimize the game through there? Something is definitely wrong settings wise. Do you have any background software running when you play?
-
Have you made sure your windows power setting is set to performance?
