It really is. It’s the only thing that has no counter other than using it (edit: this was poorly phrased, better is, “one of the best counters is using an Erentil yourself.”)) And the range it can one shot is game breaking. With Magazine perks such as Under Pressure and other stability enhancements, it can outgun other weapons at 30+ meters. This outmatches the range of every special but snipers, but for obvious reasons, they leave you vulnerable. Other fusion rifles seem to be in check, but for some reason Erentil FR4 is exceedingly effective as a weapon. With scavenger perks, players are able to use this weapon as a main weapon without needing to use anything else. Yes. I’m whining. But it’s also ridiculous.
Edit: So many people are upset that I’ve targeted ONE weapon. Guys. If it’s so easy to counter, why are you trying so hard to keep it as is?

1 ReplyErentil sexually identifies itself as a Sniper

You have the solution in your post that snipers can counter it there is your answer sit back and snipe if fusion and shotguns bother you. I play the map and game mode I’m playing on big map I snipe small map I’ll use close quarter weapons that’s why I don’t shotgun on equinox. When cops, military bust down doors they aren’t running in with bolt action snipers in a close quarters area they bring the close quarters weapons.

Have I responded to this? Eh, -blam!- it.
It really is. It’s the only thing that has no counter other than using it (edit: this was poorly phrased, better is, “one of the best counters is using an Erentil yourself.”))
Or getting beyond 25-30 meters and sniping them (which is arguably better since there is no toss up because charge times and tickrates and what have you), or rolling the dice with buckshot, or Lord of Wolves (the gun literally built to be a FR counter), or Slugs, or a Precision Frame Fusion within 15-20 meters, or I think Last Word kills Erentil before it can fully charge, too. Master of Arms also kills Erentil before it can fully charge.
And the range it can one shot is game breaking. With Magazine perks such as Under Pressure and other stability enhancements, it can outgun other weapons at 30+ meters.
Keywords being "with enhancements." The base version of the gun caps off at, oh, 25? Meters. Under Pressure adds 10 meters at absolute 100% best, but because random spread, it's not set in stone. And before you say "BuT bUtThUrT! Firmly Planted boosts your range to 70 meters!" Firmly Planted assumes you're standing still, crouched, in what is more or less an arena shooter. AKA you're a sitting duck.
This outmatches the range of every special but snipers,
Breaking news! A medium range special can shoot further that the worst shotguns in FPS history! They're medium range, and there's 3 main special categories, so no shit they're shooting further than a shotgun.
I say 3 main because grenade launchers are... Strange to categorize

but for obvious reasons, they leave you vulnerable. Other fusion rifles seem to be in check,
Because they're shit outside of maybe the occasional Epicurean or Main Ingredient, and Telesto.
but for some reason Erentil FR4 is exceedingly effective as a weapon.
Because it's the only FR that works within medium range...
With scavenger perks, players are able to use this weapon as a main weapon without needing to use anything else.
And Scavenger perks are getting heavily nerfed, with double scavengers I believe being outright removed come Shadow Keep, correct me if I'm wrong.
Edit: So many people are upset that I’ve targeted ONE weapon. Guys. If it’s so easy to counter, why are you trying so hard to keep it as is?
Because I don't want to see the effective options become ineffective, I'd rather promote build diversity while keeping stuff powerful, not returning to the snooze-fest that was year 1.

12 Replieslol all the people saying high impact fusions are fine are the same people who have no primary gun skill and crutch them to get kills. the range at which it OHK’s is unacceptable, if I’m about to three tap you with a 140/150 or 4 tap with a mida you shouldn’t be able to charge your shot and kill me consistently at 30+ meters, pair that off with the fact the ammo economy for them is busted and you never need to put them away only makes the problem worse, shotguns got reined in already, now it’s time for the worst crutch to ever hit destiny to get the chopping block.
-
The only people defending Erentil/Wizened are people who get farmed without it. Biggest crutch weapon in the game. We’ll only see more of it once supers get nerfed.
-
Feel like while a range cap should be introduced I feel a more balanced way to “nerf” erentil would be to actually make the charge sound very loud to other players. Would give awareness and really make you at fault for knowing there’s an erentil then spring out into the open and dieing because of it
-
I agree. Too much range and too fast charge time... same with a few other fusions... they break this game
-
So....nerf fusions?
-
It's fine as is. No changes needed.
-
It’s only bad on a sweat level.
-
So literally nerf fusion rifles?
-
1 ReplyEdited by Fort: 8/25/2019 6:15:48 AMI realized while playing comp the other day that there really aren’t many counters to erentil, it definitely needs some reworks.
-
7 RepliesGreat, let’s nerf fusions so that there’s no counter to shotguns again!
-
Fusions have been like this since TTK, you nerfherders lose your minds over everything. Erentil is high impact which is the only archetype that kills in 4 bolts, and plays in the exact range it needs to and has since TTK. They nerf it and shotguns will be next and then sniper, which will lead to the same shithole D2 vanilla created. Shotguns are still heavily used and snipers are also on the table, but fusions and snipers are finally getting more use so it looks like everything's working as intended.
-
8 RepliesI’ve said it a thousand times a fusion rifle meta is the worst possible outcome to happen for crucible. Whenever I get killed by someone using erentil I immediately switch to mountaintop to shut their ass down before they even get the chance to charge up their fusion completely. Parry this you f****** casual

2 RepliesSounds like you suffer from Erintile Dysfunction!

38 RepliesAll the downvotes from the "it takes skill" people. It's laughable.
-
1 ReplyThat range is ridiculous, I literally got killed halfway across the map a couple times
-
5 RepliesI will agree to the Erentil nerf when they give shotguns another considerable nerf. Comp over 3500 is filled with shotgun apes with stompees, or OEM. Fusion are the only weapon that makes them think twice about rushing like a mindless idiot.
-
4 RepliesAnd yet nobody complains about Wisened Rebuke even though it’s better then the Erentil...
-
4 RepliesErentil is not the problem...at all. It's you. 100% you. Players like you are too used to being able to run straight at their opponent buck naked with a shotgun and coming out ahead. Sorry, players are learning how to counter that strat. You're going to have to evolve as well. Stop running out into the middle of lane without peaking. Use cover to your advantage. Use range to your advantage. I like using Erentil, sure. But that's not the only thing I use, and when I'm not using it I know how to counter Erentil users. It's literally not a problem for me. If I die to it then I know it was my fault. Stop getting caught out in the open.

2 RepliesForsaken: "Omg Nerf Telesto because it leaves traps on walls" After Forsaken: "Omg Nerf Jotunn because I don't know how to move sideways" Now: "Omg Nerf Erentil because it has too much Range" Later: "Omg Nerf Proelium because it charges too fast" Amazing how some people always find a way to bit ch about Fusion Rifles regardless of the archetype. Maybe when Fusions are statistically used more than Shotguns and other overused Meta Weapons you'd have an argument against them.
-
2 RepliesFusions are infinitely worse than shotties and cater to bad players way harder. They have almost zero risk.
-
I think they need a slight range nerf. Keyword being slight. I think the main problem is double scavenger perks for special weapons. You shouldn't be able to use a shotgun, fusion rifle, grenade launcher, or sniper like your primary weapon for entire matches. You should have to plan when and what to use it for, not spam it every opportunity you get.
-
3 RepliesSo what your saying is... Nerf fusion rifles?
I use the men, but I really wouldnt have a problem with a fusion rifle need. Lowest skill gap special ammo gun
