How to Cayde-7
Archival Mind has said a few times that Rasputin hasn't done much of significance in the Lore and I see where he's coming from.
My guess is that Rasputin exists in Destiny's narrative as a means to hand-wave Cayde-6 into Cayde-7 and to drop helpful satellites.
Here's how Bungie could make Cayde-7 happen someday (40% likelihood before end of D3):
- Rasputin is used to turn Cayde-6 into Cayde-7, because CLOVIS BRAY SUPER AI ROBOTS.
- Cayde-7 retains Cayde-6 memories because he's just a regular Exo.
- Cayde-7 dies for #reasons #harpsplay
- Random ghost used to re-guardian Cayde-7. (5% likelihood, it's somehow Pulled Pork because #poeticjustice).
- Cayde-7 retains pre-death memories because he's special like that Last Word guy.
Every step of the above is a stretch, but much larger sharks have been jumped before, I don't think 40% chance before end of D3 is all that crazy.

1 ReplyCayde-7 should DEFINITELY not happen. It would completely defy all that we currently understand on how Guardian and Exo deaths work. Plus, he always hated the number 7, it'd be sad to see him as Cayde 7 :(

He should be the most serious, most contemptuous, most ornery guardian you’ve ever met, constantly complaining about the overpopulation of the tower and the city, and how, with so many mouths to feed, we could’ve stood to lose about half the population to the Red War in his opinion. His eyes should glow purple. And his gun should be called “The Snap Judgement.” That is all! 😂 Edit: Oh yeah, and they should bring back Dinklebot, who every time you encounter Cayde-8/Infinity remarks, “That guy seems oddly familiar...” And THAT is all! 😂😂

5 RepliesCayde is dead. The number is a count of how many times exo minds have been reset. Has nothing to do with multiple lives. You can’t reset a mind that’s been blown to bits.

You don't. Cayde never went past 6. 7 was a bad luck number, so he stopped counting at 6. There was a lore card that was to the extent of "of there is ever a 7 or above, that is not me"

We've never done much, if anything in game with the exos; there's mention of a few things here and there... it would be nice to have an exo equivalent of the awoken - ada-1 is a non-light exo for example, so there is potential to expand. Maybe, just maybe this could lead to Cayde-1?? The source data, so to speak (reference to 3rd/4th box in Cayde's stash mission)??

Edited by Spooky_Ari: 8/10/2019 12:33:42 AMIf Cayde-7 is actually a realistic possibility, you're going to have to look toward the Deep Stone Crypt for that and/or Vex simulations retaining the mind of the former Cayde-6. Not Rasputin. Also, the Cayde-7 mentioned in the Chronicon says nothing about him having a Ghost again, so Cayde-7 would likely just be an Exo and not a Guardian. Like putting his simulated consciousness back in an Exo body, then having that first reboot for him to awaken, making him Cayde-7.

If it was even possible you would have to 1: re-clone cayde consciousness from his original body 2: you have to find a way to re-engineer the physical exo body 3: intergrade the copy of his consciousness into a new body and that if the mind doesn’t reject the new body So the idea of a cayde-7 is highly speculative

There's also the totally normal concept of LEAVING THE DEAD TO REST. Rasputin can't bring Cayde back and even if he could I think everyone can agree that he deserves to be remembered as a hero in death instead of a hollow puppet in (second) life
