The Reckoning sucks. I haven’t touched it much since Season of the Drifter, but as I’m enjoying Opulence and I like Gambit I’m general (hearsay I know) I figured I’d try jumping back into the Prime-Reckoning loop. Knockout out a triumph, get myself another seal, grab some cool looking gear. Let’s go over just a few of the horrid details, shall we? -Firstly the matchmaking is godawful. Nine time out of ten you load into a match already in progress, which means you’re left behind, which means those already playing are at a significant disadvantage, which means when the timer runs out (and it will) they players you just joined are inclined to quit this BS leaving you undermanned and the whole cycle begins again. -The Synth system is terrible. Having to dig around in my pursuits tab to find where the hell my synthesizer decided to land this time is a pain. Further more why the hell isn’t your more automatically returned to your inventory? Where you distracted by who horrible the last round was when you ran out of time (again) on the bridge of Effing Folly? Whoops! Too bad! If you want that more back, you have to load back into the tower and laid back into the Reckoning *again* to use it. -Speaking of the Bridge of Effing Folly. What. Where. You. Thinking. I’d seen posts before bemoaning this particular gauntlet of the Reckoning but my God it’s worse than anyone described. Put aside the poorly designed advancement mechanic which for all practical purposes locks you into well warlocks and tether hunters and you still have to deal with the bloodydamned stomp mechanics that can send you flying off the bridge and wipe your teams progress with barely a thing you can do about it. -Oh and do I need to go into detail on why having blackout on here *ever* is textbook ludicrous? Not to mention having it on during the Swords week? In which two. Giant. Damn. Bosses. Rush. You. And can wipe you out in one hit inside of a well or bubble? -All that’s still glossing over the fact that should the Bungie gods smile upon you, your reward is utterly random unless it’s the head piece. Did you need the chest? Yeah sorry here’s your fourth set of boots. I’ll admit I’m making this post in the midst of a two day long streak of try to get a full notorious set for the associated triumphs. I’m frustrated. Really frustrated. But damn it this sucks. I hope Bungie is able to make this better in the future or at the very least for the love of everything drop it entirely from any future rewards, titles, or triumphs. I very genuinely hate this mode.
