Destiny are at this stage ion the game and still don't know how to make proper content. Everything is a grind, from exotics, to solstice events. It's hilarious to assume I would want to play Gambit 10 times, or jump into a broken crucible again after I already grinded for a recluse. Clearly, Bungie have no respect for my time.

I don’t mind the steps but I agree 10 gambit matches is a bit much

What would you like the steps to be? List 30 unique steps that you wouldn't mind doing. Or do you just want to get both sets, blue and purple, on all 3 guardians in a few days? And the entire event is 100% optional. Getting a sparrow isn't much of a reward. So why not, just play on your main? You only need 1 purple set and 1 masterworked item for the seal. I keep seeing people bring up, "we have real life things, how do they expect us to do all of this?" The answer is, they don't. Bungie is giving people with limited time to play, an opportunity to earn at least 1 set of armor 2.0, to be used at the start of Shadowkeep. You have 3 weeks. You cannot be serious if you think even the people with limited time a day/week to play can't get this, completely optional grind done in 3 weeks, are you? Judging how long getting the green set done, and how far into the blue set I am, i am certain it will take me under a week for each full majestic set. But i have probably 6 to 8 hours a day, to play if i want. So getting all 3 sets, is overly possible for me. On top of that, if i have set goals, like the ones this grind gives us, i feel more motivated to hop on everyday. Bungie made this grind for people like me, so we have something to do for the next month. And before all the comments about, me needing to get out of my parents basement, or I need to get a job, let me say this. I work 40+ hours a week. I have Bills, a mortgage, and a car payment. I just don't have kids living at home anymore, or my ex wife to entertain. So I have tons of time to play. For all of you with jobs, kids at home, or girlfriends, or wives, this event is totally optional. You don't need to stress out so much. It's a video game, a time waster for people who have free time to waste.

Well that’s just it though - grinding is not a good use of anyone’s time - if you have a story or the ability to spend the time the way you want to, that’s a lot more enjoyable than losing 7 out of the 10 crucible games your forced to play... There should be difficulty levels - if you don’t have the time you shouldn’t be left out - but if you do have the time you should be rewarded - we’ve never heard of difficulty tiers? This is supposed to be a fun way to spend some time, doing things over and over is not fun...

Edited by SorrowW0lf: 8/2/2019 5:18:43 PMFirst please explain what you mean by difficulty levels? Not picking up what your putting down. Second, what people enjoy doing in the D2 realm, is hyper subjective. For me personally, the most tedious bit has been the strike playlist stuff. But, strikes are my least favorite D2 activity, so that makes sense. I love crucible, I know that's probably weird, since the odd place crucible is in, but it is what it is. I also don't mind Gambit/Gambit Prime. And so I'm clear, I don't have my first legendary set yet. But today is my day off, so I should get my Hunter done today. And unlike some on this forum, I really enjoy the EAZ, so I've left the long EAZ gear pieces until the end. I also don't care about masterworking the set, so once I get each set to legendary, my grinds will be over. I like the fact, that you only need 1 one account wide valor reset, for the 1 masterwork piece for Triumph. But I also got all 3 Iron Banner quests done in the first 2 Iron Banners, so I have multiple resets, per guardian already. I guess what I'm trying to say, as long as you enjoy more than patrols in D2, than the grind isn't so bad. And if you do only enjoy 1 activity in D2, or if you have very limited time to play normally. Why, do you enjoy D2 in the first place? Or if you consider yourself very casual, meaning you don't play a lot regularly, why bother with unlocking the sets at all? The event is free. So players can choose their level of engagement. And I don't see an issue. It's always been a grindy franchise, since D1 launched. There is always different forms of grinds, if you want to get all the different available loot. And I really enjoy grindy game experiences, so it explains why the Destiny universe has been my preferred game environment, since 2014.

Okay if you like grindy game experiences then you really must have too much time on your hands. I would also urge you to go outside once in awhile and make some friends. For me though, I enjoy this game, I enjoy playing it, but there are too many key pieces of content locked behind an unnecessary grind. I would like access to Thorn, because I paid for it and it's a fun gun to use. Sending me to the crucible to get it in an endless repetitive task doesn't make any sense - that's not how I want to enjoy my free time in this game. Instead of being so specific, Bungie should let their players determine what they want to play - so if you're into strikes, and want to play strikes - play a lot of strikes to get these items. If you love crucible then play crucible. If you want to do a bit of everything, then do a bit of everything. It will cut down on all the cheezing and cheating in these game modes as well, because you will play exactly the way you want to. There should be a base reward, like the thorn, and an ornament or an emblem if you want to grind further. That way, if you only have 10 hours a week to play, it's attainable. And if folks like you have no life, then go after that additional perk. I don't appreciate being locked out of content because I don't play the way the developer wants me too. It's my game, and my time and I should be able to play it however I want to. My two cents...

Mostly all fair points. But it isn't your game, it's Bungie's game, and you pay for the opportunity to play their game. And they reserve the right to set any parameters they wish for the rewards. And you have the right to accept those parameters, or play something else. As far as having no life, or needing to make friends, I'm an older gamer. My ex wife and my 2 adult sons live in different towns/states. I do have a fair amount of friends. Some that I game with, and others I go drinking with, or if the season is right, scuba with. I like grindy games because, long grinds provide a nice distraction from my stressful and challenging 40+ hour week, at work. I can get off and shoot aliens in the face. It's quite relaxing. As far as, the different pvp and pve requirements go, there are plenty of other games out there that consist of one or the other. The Destiny universe has always been a combination of different activities, and in turn has some rewards that require taking part in many of those different activities. Just part of the game. Time to come to terms with that, and either accept it and continue playing. Or not accept it, and play something else.

But just imagin that there are some people (like me) that the idea of doing stikes and the EAZ is mindnumbing and prefer to to play crucible for hours... or like the rest of my clan that for some reason are always in gambit...
-
What if Bungoe just let us play the way we want instead of being so specific...a grind is a lot more manageable if it's a grind of something you like doing...
-
So everyone can be obtained from all activities? All raid armor/weapon and pinnacles can be obtain from someone grinding public events?
-
What if a round of Gambit, a Crucible match, Gambit Prime, and a Strike - all had the same weight of an "event" and they weren't separated. So the players could kill "x" number of major enemies or guardians, acquire "y" number of orbs, "z" completions, etc...?
-
same logic applies with gambit though. some of us enjoy playing it..
-
Ya just tell my clan... now I like gambit prime but I can’t be there for hours cause it feels way to sweaty for my taste
