Wow. Someone doesn't know the difference between gross and net. Also, two-thirds of D1 players didn't come back for D2. Combine that with a 40% drop in growth despite bundles, sales, bargain bin steals and a couple of free giveaways. They haven't released any sales data on D2 since launch, nor any data on how many registered users would still be considered active, but that's probably because it's thriving. I'm sure Activision sold the IP publishing rights for a game that in the past made billions for only $140M when their ironclad contract allowed them to laugh and say no for a few more years. They let it go for pennies on the dollar because they're kind and generous saints, not because it was floundering. Eververse was created by these masters of business because they couldn't make anything to sell for the year following both TTK and ROI, and now they're doubling down on Eververse because they don't have enough players to sell to even if they could. Yeah, they've missed the intended audience, and as they continuously leave, they get fewer and fewer people interested in taking their place. Maybe you should be in possession of the full facts before talking about how successful Bungle is, and just how good they are at making money.
Maybe you should be in possession of the full facts
Nothing you have stated in these ramblings is a fact. They are literally just your assumptions and opinions. Well done all around.

No, I didn't, but if you want to believe Bungle made billions in profit you're free to be deluded, with no comprehension that gross is income with zero deductions for cost. Them sitting on a vault containing billions is probably why they had to get $100M from Netease to buy back the IP publishing rights. Everything I brought up is LITERALLY a fact, you're just not informed enought to recognize it. It's a fact that D1 amassed 30M registered users and D2 had 9.5M at launch (multiple sources, but you can check Wikipedia) meaning they lost at least two-thirds of their registered users. It is a fact that right now D2 has 14.8M registered users whereas D1 had 25M at this point in its life cycle (again, multiple sources, but you can check Wikipedia), and it's a fact that that is a 40% drop in growth. It is a fact that a business that continuously loses two-thirds of its customers and fails to replace them with new ones is on a downward trajectory. It is a fact that Activision had exclusive publishing rights for the Destiny franchise for two more years when they sold the rights to Bungle and it's a fact that had they refused, their contract was ironclad. This comes from actually reading the contract, which you could easily do yourself. D1 and D2 did GROSS billions, and if you believe that if it were still thriving Activision (having a fiduciary responsibility to satisfy shareholders with maximum profit) would take $140M instead of raking in years of profits from a healthy, thriving game...well, again, you're free to be delusional. It is a fact that Bungle's contract stipulated a major release annually supplemented with dlc in between and it's a fact that Bungle couldn't fulfill said contract in D1Y2 and Y3. The source for that is just being conscious and observing the year-long content draughts following TTK and RoI. It is a fact that Bungle's solution to this was creating Eververse (Jason Schreier, Kotaku). These don't stop being facts as a result of your ignorance, nor do they become my opinions simply because you aren't informed enough to to be remotely qualified for this discussion. The only assumption is your fantasy that Bungle has made billions because you aren't sophisticated enough to understand that, yes, the FRANCHISE has grossed billions, but the net profit after cost of overhead, production, packaging, shipping, advertising, salaries and payroll is significantly less.
