All 2.0 armor should allow transmogrification not just eververse

So the armor 2.0 looks amazing but the fact that old armor is being left behind sucks and I'm afraid this is the cycle of destiny and the bungo team. They make pass a few dlcs and each changes mechanics and then the comet comes and it all gets reset. This is all good except bungo seems to get lazy and we can clearly see it in the dlcs. They slap new names and paint on weapons and armor and call it "all-new gear" That's lazy and a lie and one that I seek to kill now before bungo gets their way! Yes, make armor 2.0 happen but allow all and I mean ALL armor to be transmogrified with ornaments from d2. Not just eververse armor sets but all of the gear we worked so hard for! Now, why should we do this you ask? Well, it will keep bungo from being lazy and just making reskin/new paint and named old sets of gear. They will be forced to make all new sets of world, faction, PVP, PvE gear. It will allow raid and PVP gear to be still relevant in terms of looks but be functional in 2.0. If you go into collections you will notice that there's many duplicate sets of armor and weapons. The loot pool has been flooded with reskins and new paint job gear. The whole point of a new DLC and a reset is to have ALL NEW GEAR! ALL NEW things to GET. Why would I hunt down old looking gear when I already have it? Why not put in the work to update transmogrification to work with all the new gear and also make all new sets. A good example of this is the iron banner gear right now. It's base looks are 100% the same as the first set when it should look brand new and ornaments should be the old looks. So we have a few options of how we do this 1: All gear like collections can be added to all new gear as long as you have had the armor at some point. 2: you need to tie the armor to similar categories for EX: raid, pve, would and faction gear are in the same categories and so any one of the new armor sets will allow you to transmog them within the overall pve grouping. Same thing for pvp gear like iron banner, trials, comp and pvp vender. 3: All armor can allow you to add any old gears looks but you need the armor on hand and much like infusion you select any kind of old gear you want to be added into the new armors transmog slot. You basically can have a large or small list of any old gear.

  • honestly armor 2.0 appearances was what i was looking forward to the most. i thought you could use any appearance from any armor and i was excited to change my look. finding out it only works with eververse ruined shadow keep for me. i know it not the only change but i'm still very disappointed.

    • Logged in to make a thread about this exact topic because I am sick of grinding for armor only to have it become obsolete with the next season release. Currently I am grinding for Menagerie armor and it would be nice if you could transmog any armor that you unlocked onto the armor 2.0 armor. This needs to happen to keep players happy and allow us to use armor that we just obtained in this season. I understand that MMO and other games follow similar formats with armor changing, but they also have a compete transmog or system to allow players to use their favorite armor. An idea that I have is to have two options available when getting armor from our collections one for teh entire armor piece and a second for applying the armor ornament to existing armor. So maybe hold X for armor and hold A to apply ornament to current armor. Bungie delayed Shadowkeep, so they really need to make sure that armor from this current season and past seasons can be used as an ornament with the new 2.0 armor. Ball is in your court Bungie do not let us down!!

    • The only thing that can make bungie change is if you stop pre ordering and buying crap for emblems on their online store.

      • Yeah, the making of eververse items into ornaments is proof that they could do it with all our obsoloete gear. It's obvious now they are dileberately not letting us use year 1 gear just so they can sell it to us again.

      • My speculation is that between D2’s limited engine and its spaghetti coding, it simply can’t handle armor having the ability to look like collected armor styles. So in the end, we’ll get Armor “2.0” allowing us to look like all Eververse styles. Then we’ll get Iron Banner armor that allows us to look like all past D2 Iron Banner styles. Eventually, they’ll throw in some other styles but they’ll be limited to armor from their collected activities (raid for raid gear, Gambit, and strikes).

      • Aren’t people -blam!- about wanting gear from d1 back so how can reskinning be bad. When you dummies complain about the new gear and say it should look like d1 gear?

          • Oh you mean the Eververse ornaments? That they made out to be as if at least some of the armour would be universal? But is really JUST the eververse armour.

          • Isnt the whole eververse involvement ornament based? And not transmog based? The entirety of your post is confusing. It’s just one giant scramble of thoughts without actually knowing anything about this system. I’m ASSUMING that 2.0 armor will be able to be transmoggged to look like Last Wish armor if I want... but I could be wrong. I’m ASSUMING that I will never be able to get 2.0 Last Wish armor without transmog.

              • We don't know anything yet to speculate on what Armor 2.0 SHOULD be or SHOULD offer, I think we should wait till its actually released to criticize something. Just saying, no disrespect intended.

                      • While Destiny isn’t a MMORPG, it has several features of a MMORPG. Too bad Bungie has chosen the bad ones (high level content not suited for solo players, gear reset with every new DLC, braindead grind, unnecessary leveling...) and ignored the good ones (transmogrification, character customization, crafting, social interactions and chats, quality of life options...)

                        • Make all armour transmogable. All gear you have gotten at some point will now be in ornament slot. Or a new sub menu, probably not though. Simply make it so you actually need raid armour itself in your inventory for the raid buffs/ skills on the armour/ on hand to utilize them. Problem solved. You would still be able to transmog gear/ change ornament into raid gear and so on, you would just keep the same stats as the armour had before. The same as it is works now currently.

                        • 100% agree that old armor you’ve collected should become a transmog option. I shouldn’t have to grind it all out again. People say MMOs do this regularly, but doesn’t something like WoW also have a robust transmog system so you can make your new gear look like your old gear? I’d be perfectly fine with that.

This. Exactly. Why do I want to invest all the time and effort necessary to beat a raid? Because I want the loot. I want the weapons AND the armor. The raids have always had some of the sickest looking armor in the game, certainly in D1. Not to mention, often the best stat rolls as well. For us to earn these items trough a long, hard fought battle and accomplish the pinnacle challenging content the game has to offer, only to then have it become redundant when armor 2.0 launches, would be a slap in the face of every single player who’s grinding to get these highly coveted items. Bungie should make the right move here. There’s no question limiting the aesthetic ornamentation to only the look of eververse armors in 2.0 would be a MONUMENTAL mistake. Let us apply the look of raid gear, iron banner gear, or WHATEVER the eff else we want to the best rolled armor piece we have, whatever that may be. This is the only way to do it. Maybe omit some random default armor sets or something but all the unique, interesting sets that take some measure of effort to really have to earn, they must be included.

                          • this solstice crap has redonk grinds if I can't transmog it it's simply not worth it, not gonna grind 4 currencies per piece per light level upgrade to keep it relevant D2 killed infusing after year 1, the only infusions I do now are the 5k glimmer ones where you infuse into identical gear
