Melee hits not registering?

Running my Titan, my shield bash just pushed two people back without doing any damage. WtF? I understand not killing with the power level's being enabled, but this did not damage, just pushed them back.

  • Mine do. I get credit for one melee after five melee kills. Ten grenades counts as two.

  • That's what you get Titan scrub. But seriously if you're regular melee'ing people it seems to register, more often than not, after you're dead and they've started walking away. [spoiler]Because fun isn't allowed.[/spoiler]

From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold[/spoiler]

        I had a Titan bounce of me 3 times with Sentinel. I was so confused by it I just stood there and they eventually killed me.

        • I've had this happen to me several times. Even in PvE. This one time I was in Equinox I came across an enemy player by where the heavy spawns. I activated my Sentinel super and LITERALLY chased him down in a circle, smacking the phuk out of him. NOT ONE TIME did ANY of my hits register. My super ended, and shortly after, he promptly deleted me from existence. BOI WAS I LIVID AS PHUK AFTERWORDS!

          • Ever since Season of Opulence launched, melees in general just feel off. I could literally spam the melee button in front of someone and I’ll never lunge or connect.

          • This same problem showed up in D1. I think they imported it when they copied and pasted since Bungie don't know how to make new content.

          • Oh. That's been a thing since Destiny 1. The PvP Community refers to that as Short-Stopping. It's just always been a thing... unfortunately, it'll probably never be fixed.

              Our Hunter melee makes it easier for the enemy to kill us. Most of the time hunters don't even lunge when they melee, and if they do, they’ll sometimes hit slightly off target and whiff. Sometimes my hunter will do the melee animation and you’ll hear the knife and thump but no damage is done. Could it be possible that there are just some people who manipulate their connection to gain an advantage? Or is the game’s coding really that bad?

              • It's not just Titan. I was missing melees in Rumble today as well. It's a lag issue I think, but it's impossible to tell what's player lag and what's just bad matchmaking putting me against other time zones.

              • I ran my Titan at 745 and I couldn’t one-hit kill any player that was 750. They’d have a sliver of life left. I have found the hit registration on the shoulder charge to be fairly inconsistent from time-to-time in regular crucible as well.

              • It’s shoulder change in general that’s buggy. Seen someone titan super shoulder change a guy 3 times counted as a hit but he was just pushed away. Had where I shoulder charged around a corner to avoid a dawn blade got hit mid animation and took no damage. Had an issue with solar shoulder charges hitting players knocking them back worse then boss stomps and doing no damage but inflicting the burn.

                I collect multiple examples every day of this happening. Actually is awful. The fact that melee registration has been awful for like 5 years now is just mind blowing. Make every melee function the same as D1 thunderstrike where it never missed as long as you were in range. Whatever the algorithm was on that, make it the same with every other melee

                Haha, I don't think my Titan has hit [b]anyone[/b] with shield bash in D2 😆 Hit detection is appalling!

                • this has been an issue probably since launch. it will be blamed on latency and nothing will ever be done to address it, bungie will just tell you to get a better connection

                  • Its called shortstopping bud. Its when the melee animation is played as if the attack hit the opponent, but no damage is done. Sentinel super and warlock melees are suffering the most from this issue right now. 4 years and still no fix....

                        Same for warlock melee seems to only work 50% of the time. Even worse with ophidian aspects.
