It should be a crime that Merciless has 5 less impact than base Main ingredient
I never realized it until now, but honestly I think the impact and ammo reserve is why this weapon fails. No need for a weapons that shoots marshmallows

3 RepliesSo I did some tests with main ingredient, loaded question, merciless, and jotunn. Here are the results: (Tested on Gregg with 2 fusion reserve perks, and main ingredient has backup mag) Main Ingredient: 738/bolt, max reserves: 23, total damage: 118818 Loaded Question: 1081/bolt w/ reservoir burst, 811/bolt w/o, max reserves: 22, total possible damage w/ lunafaction: 155134 Merciless: Is weird. Every subsequent bolt deals 9 lower damage until maximum RoF is reached (the first bolt deals 823, and max RoF is reached after the 3rd burst, lowering the damage of every subsequent bolt to 634. I added all the numbers in between for total damage.), max reserves: 19, total damage: 86401 Jotunn: 3989 on impact, 1187 on explosion, and 6 ticks of 203 burn damage, max reserves: 22, total damage: 140668 Summary: I was too lazy to do a DpS test. But these stats don't take into account a lot of things: main ingredient can roll with kill clip or rampage, merciless also has impetus(killclip) and has no charge time after the first 3 shots, jotunn has tracking, etc. Basically, just looking at raw stats removes what makes all of these guns unique. Use each of these and decide for yourself which is the best for what scenario.

I actually forgot that gun existed. I had to think if you were comparing a Destiny 1 weapon vs Destiny 2 weapon. It took me a while to remember Merciless is a Destiny 2 weapon. I guess I enjoyed the game a while ago.

I haven't used that thing since D1 vanilla. It sure as heck doesn't belong in the heavy slot.

4 RepliesThe stats are misleading but don’t less this distract you from the fact that in pve as the charge time goes up it loses damage. I just noticed this and I don’t know if it’s a bug or not.

Ah Merciless, best exotic in the vanilla game for 6 months straight. And then it became useless and has been left in the dust for years

Also bring back Plan C and remove all backup plans from other fusion guns!

3 RepliesThe figures you see in game are never base figures, just because impact might display lower than another weapon doesn't make it weaker, there may be other factors invisible to the player.

Don't forget that merciless is more of a dps weapon because of the what feels like instant charge.

23 RepliesHave you used it? It stacks damage and with a well or even just Lunafacation boots no need to reload. The catalyst is nice as well, extra stability and range.

The Merciless used to be the meta for Pleasure Gardens. I have the catalyst for it, I should give it some play time again.

The real crime is that it’s reserves didn’t get buffed when it was a moved to a special weapon.

that gun is too situational , it has a to be a giant boss and the boss can't keep having immunity phases othewise by the time to perk procs you cant use it.

The stat has been broken since launch. It's much higher.

This is why you shouldnt play the game based off spreadsheets. The merciless is a better weapon than the MI.

1 ReplyWhat's the point of merciless if it's not the highest dps non heavy. Its main perk is to have very high boss dps.

1 ReplyI think the stats are wrong as it's one of the hardest hitting fusions and is still a very viable PvE choice. Needs a reserve perk though.
