So, is anthem good yet?

Last I heard it was still booty for various reasons. But it's been a while. Any updates that turned the tide? I've pretty much detoxed myself of d2 fomo addiction the past few months so I have a slot in my playtime that I wouldn't mind filling with anthem for a while if it's worth the time and effort. Thoughts?

As of the writing of my comment yes. The game right now is in a much better place than it was before. They solved ALOT of the player bases issues with the Cataclysm. Earnable loot, much better drop rates, incredibly stable servers(haven't hit a single unbearable lag spike yet and I haven't been kicked to the main screen not once). They added the seasonal store that has some amazing new cosmetics only earnable through gameplay(very easy to earn too). They also added multiple secret objectives to get some awesome new emotes and customization options(aka grabbit ears to wear on your javalin or a mixing emote for when you mix Varas -blam!- ass in 3 minuets or less). You can also purchase the new melee, support, gear, and weapons from the seasonal store when it updates with those items. New things like a colossus fire melee to a gun that fire high single target damage blades, to a gun that fires an unstable pack of shards that does high close range aoe damage. They of course also updated the cash shop as all the updates are free and mans gotta eat. Don't worry though, the seasonal store has plenty of cosmetics for your fasion javalin needs. The drop rates are so much better. Getting a legendary happens much more often in GM2 and 3 to the point where you are gaining a new legendary almost every run. On GM3 it is awesome watching the yellow and orange pop out of the enemy. Of course you won't always get a legendary, but something that happened only after sacraficing grabbits to the grabbit king is now a common occurance. You can still get bad rolls but that is the point of a looter shooter. At a certain point you are min maxing and most loot will be worthless. Nothing you can do there. Servers are much more stable now(at least on PS4 in my case). PC has issues but apparently the fix is to set textures to medium and they are all good. I rarely lag and when I do it is a micro second then fine for the rest of the play time. It isnt perfect but it is leagues above what it once was. In the end Bioware has shown an absolute detication to making Anthem what it could be and what it should be. The cataclysm proves that they infact do have a desire to make this game better and contrary to popular belief I believe that it will work out in the end. Also this event is lightyears better than Solstice 2019. You can earn cosmetics and you aren't pressured into buying a single thing with cash(looking at you eververse and the 8 dollar glows that should be earnable through a small grind). If you bought the game I really reccomend giving the Cataclysm a shot. It is free content so there isn't any downside to giving it a shot and seeing what it is all about. In any case do what is most fun to you.

  • My biggest complaint was the disconnects and broken missions (enemy wouldn't spawn). I couldn't even get far enough in the game to complain about loot drops. Now I've heard they fixed most of that, but I got so frustrated, I deleted the game.

  • Don’t know and don’t care. It will only ever be a polished 💩 at best anyway. Give it a few years another developer might try a bit harder to make it right.

Define "good". The game is in a better spot than Destiny 2 was in at this point last year. 1. It has very good core game play. 2. Its stability problems have largely been fixed. Had my first server disconnect in weeks this weekend. But like Y1 Destiny 2 the game suffers. 1. Minor game design problems. Freeplay (their version of Patrol)...just doesn't work. The game puts far too few people in too large of a space. So you wander around kind of aimlessly and hope to (randomly) bump into events. Problem is those events were designed for multiple players to play cooperatively....but most of the time you're fighting on your own, because no one else is nearby. The experience doesn't work, and its not fun. 2. Major loot problems. Like Destiny 2 in Year 1....the lootpool is shallow. Like Destiny 2...even to this moment----the devs feel that the key to keeping players playing is to be withholding. 3. A player base that wants to play as LITTLE of the game as possible to get its loot....while at the same time they complain that the game doesn't have enough to do. Verdict? Good time to START playing....because you won't hit most of the game's problems until your about 100 hours into the game. Not a good time to return to playing if you already have an end-game level player...and hit your head against the game's loot problems. The game right now is in the process of ramping up for the release of The Cataclysm. Which----by what I've heard----is supposed to be fun to play content that somewhere between Menagerie and Prison of Elders. New loot is being added to the game. New abilities and New weapons. I'll probalby come back and play some to experience it...and get some of the new gear. But the game is probably about another 5 or 6 months away from fixing all of its issues. They've laid a good foundation (now that the stability issues have been fixed)....but they've run into the end-game problems I feared that they would. The game's problems are just being blown out of proportion because of the game's rocky release.....the hate and hostility towards EA....and YouTube bottom feeders who never miss an opportunity to trade shitting on the game for clicks and views.

  • Not from what I can find. There have been some improvements but from everything I’ve read it’s still a train wreck. https://www.reddit.com/r/AnthemTheGame
