Why focus on bugs that help players progress vs...

Why focus on bugs that help players progress vs... bugs that hinder player enjoyment? Any time there is a any bug such as being able to open multiple menagerie chests or the tribute hall cheese, Bungie is laser focused on fixes. Yet, when I play crucible matches with horrible matchmaking, lag, and invisible opponents, there is no mention of upcoming fixes... I understand that issues allowing players to cheese or skip content is important, but isn’t breaking entire portions of the game(meaning they flat out don’t work) important as well. I’m getting sick of it honestly.

  • Sounds like your internet sucks, and you're just mad because bungie is patching exploits that you wanted to continue benefitting from. Dunno what to tell ya.

    • Cause the game is all about restricting player freedom and progression for the sake of keeping up population numbers. Having only weekly milestones as a way of progression is the lamest and laziest way to hold a players attention. That's why you only see an increase in population numbers on DLC drops and Tuesdays.

    • Because bungie doesn't operate on fun for their players but pain, torture, nerfing all that we love and then asking for more money in emotes, ornaments and replica of exotics. It's all written on a plaque once you enter their offices.

      • Totally agreed: let players enjoy things, and concentrate on fixing actual issues that adversely affect players' user experience/gameplay and make things _not_ fun.

      • Fun fact : We didn't have any serious bugs until Bungie decided to "fix" the Menagerie chest glitch. As for bad matchmaking in the Crucible, I can't say much about that. It has been around for ages. Don't know what we can do about it. Moral of the story : Don't try fixing something that isn't broken. It'll just lead to more complications in the long run.

              • They want Destiny 2 progression to be like Anthem. Meaning you have to be super lucky and have no life outside of this game to get anything useful. It helps make the game look better from an inflated play time. Instead of actually making good content. Any Bungie employee saying other wise is lying and just using cooperate speak to not get fired.

                • I don't crucible but if I did, I would feel the same. The enjoyment is what bungie misses over and over again. For you it's crucible, for others it's menagerie and for me it's the lack of match making (which most on here seem to hate) but it all boils down to the same thing. Make the game enjoyable and accessible to everyone........ EVERYONE!!!

                  • Bungie is all about hindering/slowing down Player Progression and gating people away from End Game Content unlike games like Diablo 3, Borderlands and Warframe where it is left to the player how fast to level up, how fast or slow they want to blow thru the Content etc. Player Freedom and Choice matters in Looter Shooters. As I like to say, If you don’t respect the players time, you lose the players time, sometimes permanently. Vanilla D2’s Leveling was perfect in my opinion cause it was very reminiscent of Diablo 3 where you have your base Level (1-60 which is now 1-70) then you had your Paragon Levels via light level etc) and the grind is in rifts, bounties etc. the ascendent challenge is very reminiscent of Diablos rifts which is why I think Bungie should make it a permanent thing.

                    • It’s just like the gate launch glitch from GTA. Or clothing glitches. They don’t give you any like money or bypass or shit like that. They were harmless. They still got patched because it’s not how Rockstar wanted their game to be played in a sense I think. Bungie’s case. A glitch that DOES bypass menagerie causing its playerbase to grow spoiled from a bug. Honestly I think it’s rewarding enough, like I genuinely enjoy it a lot. Just because it’s not easier to grind doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad

                    • Because that simply isn't how game development works. They do not focus on fixing cheeses over bugs. Bugs may occur at any time, and for example the most recent ones (invisible comp players, spectator, loading times in strikes etc) happened AFTER the patch, how would they patch a bug out that doesnt exist yet? Bugs may require different ammounts of time and resources to fix. The Guitar Error in Last Wish for example was more than just a accidental line of code. It had more fundamental problems which needed to be addressed which of course takes longer and requires more investigation as to not cause even more issues. Bugs, exploits and glitches may have varying priority. Somthing that has an easy workaround may be put off to work on more immediate bugs that dont have workarounds which are causing more of a problem. It's also unfair to say they are patching exploits or cheeses over bugs, they simply aren't. But fixing them is integral to the game, things should play how they were designed to be played. It defeats the entire point if you could just cheese the entire game.

I feel that the decision to lock the catalyst and the emote was unfair ... for Bad Juju. The people who cheesed the Menagerie Chest got to keep those perfect rolls and those god-rolls are not being locked until they caught up to finish full Menagerie runs that equate to the total of chests that were cheesed and opened over and over and over and... well you guys get the picture. The Bad Juju cheese was quite bad and took more effort and patience than the Menagerie Chest Cheese. Loading into the hall and out to space and into the hall would make any sane person slip their cheese just a tad from their cracker. Load in time was atrocious. The load in time was a heroic feat on it’s own. If it was just Glimmer, then okay that’s quite okay let’s grind for Glimmer, but adding Materials just kinda discriminated on some people that can’t farm the materials for whatever reason ... lack of time maybe. Materials are very time-specific requisition-tasks. Everyone is willing to pay the game for what it needs to reward the player loot. But the “price” that the developer is asking for should align with the reward. Some examples of a high price: A.) Couldn’t open the Bergusia Forge. Price to open was a near-unbreakable puzzle. Price was too high. B.) Iron Banner quests. Price to claim prizes for the Quest was some feat that required a full-time job to complete. This is getting fixed. Thank you Bungie. But this is an example of: The price for the reward was too high, and not a lot wanted to buy in. C.) Quests with timers attached to the “normal” version of the quest. Normal quests should not have a timer. This eliminates a lot of people getting a taste or desire to attempt. Price goes up whenever this occurs but somehow it continues to persist. I feel like these cheeses where placed in there not by happenstance, but because someone in Bungie understands. I think whoever came up with these cheeses has the right mentality. It’s like giving us a period of: “the game is on sale within this time”. Lower effort while supplies last. Three days or a certain period... get your cheese in before the patch ... tell all of your other friends hiding inside other games and not playing Destiny. We got cheese, come and get it while it’s hot.

We don't normally have issues but this post confuses me.
Any time there is a any bug such as being able to open multiple menagerie chests or the tribute hall cheese, Bungie is laser focused on fixes.
Yes because they undermine the design of the game and have secondary consequences for other players. Only Exploiters and cheaters don't understand that.
but isn’t breaking entire portions of the game
It actually has affected the game. There are already people complaining that there are less people queueing in to Menagerie. Why, because so many people "got what they needed" from it by exploiting. The thing cheaters don't understand is secondary consequences for their actions because they are selfish only caring about what they get out of it. Is there where you are?

                              • Ya, it has been kind of obviouse that when it comes to bugs, anything that players benefit from is given priority way before anything that causes issues. A perfect example is that there was a bug for spire of stars where hunters could not get their rewards from the first chest after opening it the first time ever. So for literally weeks any hunter missed out on that powerful drop, and it took them a fairly long time to fix it for what ever reason. You would think that would be a priority fix, but it certainly didn't seem that way. At the same time colour blind settings are still broken and have been since the launch of forsaken, with absolutely no news about whether it is even been worked on.

Y'all are just -blam!-ing lazy when it comes to the tribute Hall and I'm glad Bungie is actually doing something about players who took advantage of it. You all do realize that you aren't intended to do some things over the course of 5 minutes right? Jesus some of you are lazy.
