Transfering character

Hi guys. I recently started playing Destiny 2 on PC but I used to play Destiny on PS3 back in the day. I was wondering if there is a possibility of me somehow getting my PS3 character in Destiny 2. I linked my PS account but that didn't do anything. If anyone is able to tell me if I could even do that I'd really appreciate it.
