As of right now (and the last 3 hours) AFK material farming in forges is now the 2nd most played activity (by “active” players) in D2.
Patrol - 28%
Forges - 16%
Story - 9%
RAIDS - 9%
QuickPlay - 8%
Gambit- 7%
Strikes - 6%
Competitive -6%
Menagerie - 4% (RIP Menagerie)
Nightfall - 3%
Heroic Adventure - 1%
Reckoning - 1%
You a big raider? Raiding is tied with people playing story missions. Just food for thought. Not close to the same number of people farming forges for mats.
You a big PVP player? There are more people farming forges for mats than in QuickPlay and Competitive combined.
There are a lot of reasons why these numbers come out the way they do. Many factors and influences, but that’s not my point, the point is that these are the numbers right now. This is what they are and it’s a fact.
Think about it and figure out what it means for you.
To me it’s not exciting to see that the endgame is now afk farming mats in forges. I don’t feel like that is a meaningful endgame experience.
Edit: To be clear I’m not condemning the AFK farming method personally. I think it’s perfectly acceptable if you’re being conscientious and lowering your light so you only get matched with other farmers. This method has been around since forges launched.
Update:
As of right now (Thursday July 18 at 8:50am it is showing Forges as the number one activity at 28%
11 RepliesI guess this was a bad time to come back to the game. Wasted my time trying to get through the initial dlc quest for the forge and end up running into group after grouo just -blam!-ing afk. Really regret buying this pass, and this is after I got a refund for it because I changed my mind then, lol.
