No, stop trying to go back to an imperfect system just because you think it’s better than what we have now. Make suggestions to improve it and make it better than it ever was, not go back to something that much like it is now was ok at best. If we’re gonna by to ask for changes ask for something innovative instead of something retroactive. What I personally would like to see is for them to put everything on one page and let you pick what melee you want out of all the melees, what grenade out of all of them, same with supers, jumps and class ability modifying perks. That way you could mix and match elemental abilities and use exactly what you want. I also want a way to build on abilities and make them stronger after they’re unlocked, maybe even unlock second charges and that never existed in either game. We need to be more thoughtful about the suggestions we make and make suggestions to improve the game, not just try to turn it into d1. Both systems had room for improvements and going back would not be a positive in the long term because I believe the current system can more easily be improved upon. If making the current system better doesn’t seem viable I think a rework would be a better option than implementing the d1 system, that shouldn’t even be considered.

  • That's a cool concept and all, but won't work with the lore of destiny and would be an absolute nightmare for balancing and PvP... Unless they do what I have been suggesting since day one, PvP and PvE needs to be completely seperated. If it was, then your idea could hold some merit, if you throw all of the lore out of the window, which could be a cool plot twist, especially since our guardian is technically the most powerful in all of existence, giving us the ability to meld class abilities together to form a completely unique class and subclass. I understand what you're trying to get at. They made alot of changes from D1 to D2 and 90% of them were horrible and just messed everything up. Most of them didn't need to be changed at all, and tbh, alot of it was pushed by Activision. Bungie needs to really look at QoL changes, and the current, super restrictive subclass structure needs to be changed to something where we have alot more choice in what we run, give us back our choice in how we build our classes, and the D1 structure was that. It doesn't need to be completely the same, but it needs to change.

We both agree that it can and should be improved, we just disagree on how. I always push back when people suggest going back to how d1 was because I believe that’s the laziest solution and that bungie can and has to strive to do better with the subclasses, especially if they want to live up to being considered an mmo as they mentioned in their ViDoc. As far as I know my suggestions don’t break the lore and if they do bungie has already broken it. We see in cinematic sequences Zavala use the arc super and the Titan bubble. We also see Ikora use an arc melee and also a nova bomb. These characters assumably don’t have to change all their abilities attributes just to do that, if it’s an ability they’ve learned they just use it on demand as long as they have the strength/energy to do so. I understand that we currently have to because ‘video game’ and that’s how it was set up but if other characters can have that freedom so should we, as you pointed out we are the most powerful. Even if they would reject my idea I still think the current subclass structure is more friendly to being iterated and improved upon. They could take the melee ability out of the super cluster so it’s not dependent on what super ability you choose to play. They could add passive abilities or mini sub-trees to the melee, grenade, and class abilities to do things like make them stronger, make them charge faster, unlock a second charge, or just change they way we use them. This would bring us back to the level of freedom and decision making we had in d1 with significantly less UI changes than just changing it back and a better structure to continue to be built upon imo.
