Speaking as a Warlock Main since the D1 First Look Alpha, I almost NEVER use Bottom Tree Voidwalker. Yes, the survivability of Devour is nice, but it is completely overshadowed by the raw PvE DPS potential of Top Tree and PvP lethality of Middle Tree. What do you fellow Warlocks think about Bottom Tree Voidwalker, and how, if at all, would you change it?

I miss the destiny 1 days when devouring voidwalkers could heal from grenade kills instead of choosing between dmg or health. Bottom tree voidwalker needs a major QOL buff before people even consider using it for anything. Thoughts why not give us both options consume for health or get devour on a grenade kill? Pvp wise devour kinda sucks because everyone is using secondaries as primaries making healing basically meaningless as you get one shot anyways by the next guy with a shotgun... fusion... titan punch (seasonal artifact) and you quickly see the issue. Also bottom tree should exclusively be the only void class to get (oppressive darkness) effect intrinsically so people actually respect the grenades we throw instead of running through it like they don't even exist and would make the tree viable in pvp and pve gameplay.

1 ReplyI’m not a warlock main but after watching the locks get screwed with crap exotics. I think an exotic that grants the split nova from d1 would be cool. Like I said, I’m not a lock main so “split nova” is what I call it lol

I think you’re right - it’s issue is that it’s basically a Catch-22: it’s meant to be a high-survivability build... that requires loads of low-health enemies to function, otherwise known as ‘not particularly difficult activities that don’t require high survivability’. Not sure about a fix, though; maybe other ways to activate devour, like repeatedly landing precision shots? (For what it’s worth, though: not a Warlock main, so weight my response as you will.)

I never use it. It doesn't fit my play style in PVP....and I find it pretty useless in PVE.
