If you have intel integrated boost feature i would make sure that you 100% have it turned on in your PC bios, especially after a factory reset of windows. From the picture you posted though, i would say that 80% is really not a bad number at all. I have an i5 9600k and it hovers between 70-90% mostly with no problems. What staggers me a little bit though is why your GPU usage is so low? Mine stays at 95-100% constantly, as long as it is correctly cooled it doesnt matter. You want your GPU to be taking as much of the load from the CPU as possible. Maybe your CPU is putting in some work where your GPU is failing to do so? The only thing i can think of from the top of my head that could be causing you problems is if your CPU is stepping up for your GPU. Either that or your whole system is getting hot or has been hot for very long periods before? If you have some kind of dashboard like Corsair iCUE to check temps that would be ideal Edit: I must've skipped over the part where you said your CPU is running at 100% even when you're in orbit... something is definitely very wrong. I'd look into ways of forcing your GPU into 100% useage to see if that takes some strain away. Off the top of my head, make sure your PC is not in any sort of low power mode (control panel, power options, high performance) and make sure you have your GPU set into either adaptive or prefer maximum performance on your nvidia dashboard, if you use nvidia i dont think you said. Make sure your GPU is adequately cooled if you're going to run it 100% all the time

  • Hi, thanks for the response! What staggers you, staggers me to. Thats the EXACT same thing that I thought... Which led to a few questions and solutions that changed nothing... really. The temperatures are not an issue. Ive done constant temperature checks and they each fall respectively within the limits set. - Using programmes like speccy - (Got a few people to check for me as Im not too knowledgeable about that). So im pretty sure the temperature isnt an issue. That and I've got about.. 9 active case fans, regularly cleaned :') Funnily enough, I actually came up (with a parital idea from a friend) that maybe the CPU was picking up the GPU's workload, meaning... using the intergrated graphics chip OVER the actual GPU?... No clue how to check this or confirm this but a friend assured me, after asking some information that it wasnt the case. (Nivida control panel, configure surround, PhysX - http://prntscr.com/ofnzap ) I agree, something is definitely wrong. However, to further the information, the 100% CPU usage in orbit has lowered to about half after changing some in game graphic settings, mainly the depth of field as mentioned before. How would I go about forcing the GPU into taking more of the strain? I already went through with a friend to change the power options, he went through and turned off unnecessary settings for me and advising certain settings which I may / may not have enabled before the windows restart. I appreciate your response, been a real mind-**** for me and all those helping. Bit of a running joke that my pc is "cursed".. wew. (side note - compared performance with another friend on another game, who has more or less the exact same specs as me, i think a little newer, and the performance / output / demand on the cpu and gpu was almost the same, to out-rule that my hardware wasnt performing as it should)

  • I don't know if your PhysX setting being on auto will always use your GPU. I doubt it makes a difference but just incase its not something small like that I would change it to your GPU. Like you said, this is really strange. Here are some other less likely things that may cause low GPU usage; Some dual monitor programmes hold back a certain % of your GPU for a second monitor, if you use 2 monitors try disabling one and see if it makes a difference. A quick online search I see some guy have success with 'unparking his CPU'. I will be honest, i don't know what this is so i cannot personally recommend it. But, his GPU usage went from around 50 to 100% and all his problems were solved. Link here if interested https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/858249-destiny-2-only-using-a-maximum-of-50-gpu-usage-making-my-fps-terrible/ The integrated chip sounds like a good shout to me also, i used to have a pc that would randomly swap to using the built in intel chip and it was very frustrating. Funnily enough, it always happened after a full reboot of windows. You can clearly see if this is the case though with any hardware monitoring software of even simply Task manager - performance - gpu should tell you which chip its using. I'm really quite stumped if none of these are the problem, i hope you find a solution soon
