I have heard that this is a quote from Marathon, but I hope that it is a hint to Bungie's next game series.
Its all wishfull thinking but here is my theory:
"Bungie aerospace" + "see you starside" + inclusion of space combat in Reach = New game based entirely or partially on space combat.
its just speculation, but I hope it turns out to be true.

We know that Bungie won't be making more Halo games! I am just trying to figure out what their NEXT awesome game series will be. I am looking for subtle hints Bungie may have given us.

What Can I Say?.. Anything Is Possible With Bungie.

The line "See ya starside" comes from Marathon. If BoBs are alive long enough to teleport out of a level, they will often say "See ya starside." It is just a nod to the people who get where is comes from, along the same lines as hiding the Marathon logo on Key's pipe in Halo 1.
Posted by: Fearing
Posted by: SHOMENUCHI Marathon Re-Boot is next guaranteed!
Except that Bungie has already said it will be a new IP. It MAY however have some connections to Marathon. Halo as it was originally concieved seemed as though it was probably going to be a bit more closely tied to Marathon (maybe similar to how Marathon was tied to Pathways into Darkness a bit, or maybe even more overtly). Quickly with Microsoft commisioning Nylund to very hurriedly write a prequel book and having more of it's own story fleshed out than perhaps Bungie originally thought would happen, it kind of grew into it's own thing. However, with the possiblity of Marathon happening much farther into the future, there is room to maybe still connect the two. Anyway, my point is, their next game probably won't be a Marathon game because of what they have already said about it being an original IP, but like Halo, it could be connected to Marathon. Since they don't own Halo anymore, it obviously can't be a Halo game, but Bungie, having created Halo and still having some affection for it, might perhaps make a game that somewhat subtley bridges the two series without making any direct references to Halo (since they probably can't legally). I could see it being a thing where it fits in with both the Halo and Marathon universes, but Bungie can't really acknowlege that it has any continuity or relation to Halo and has to say that it is completely separate, since that belongs to MS. Perhaps something that takes place far enough after Halo that the universe isn't terribly recognizeable from what it was in Halo and has progressed much closer to what things look like in Marathon or something very different looking from either. This is all complete speculation of course and could be totally and completely wrong. Bungie could be making a game set in a Tolkienesque fantasy realm for all I know.
Good point, they said it would be a new IP so it can't be Marathon. But I don't think it will be something that can bridge Marathon and Halo. I hope it will be something else entirely. It seems clear that it will still be Sci-Fi though.
Posted by: Agustus A space combat game would disappoint me. Greatly. I do believe it is a reference to Marathon, seeing as it was commonly used in the games. But does it mean anything practically for what their next game will be? Only time will tell.
When I thought "space combat game" I was thinking more Firefly and less Wing Commander. Y'know, buying stuff for your space-hulk of a ship. Flying under the radar, dodging UNS... er, Terran Citizen's Federation patrols. Good times. Flying the not!Sabres would only be part of the experience. Why, it could even be optional.

Maybe its simply a hint that we will see a remake of Marathon in the near future. God I hope so, Im frothing at the mouth thinking of updated Marathon with HD gfx.... dr00l......
